Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)
Jason Goes to the Elm Street: The Final Nightmare
Some said this is lazy and have a bad plot but at least its better than parts 7th and 8th. They completely ruined the series and here is a decent try to fix it (even when it fails). Jason Goes to Hell is A Nightmare On Elm Street like F13. There's same atmosphere, same special effects and style and even same kind of music (although its from same composer Harry Manfredini who composed music to nearly to all Fridays). Its like bad ANOES sequel (as they all are). Its from same production company too, Paramount sell rights to do F13 sequels to New Line Cinema after making horrible Jason Takes Manhattan and when it didn't make so good gross. And even though some people think, this movie didn't flop, it got a decent box office gross, not that good it could and what F13 movies have had in their best but decent for all. And come on, plot is weakest part in every F13 movie and slasher films too. If you want completely same stuff in every movie, watch old ones for several times. Part VIII pointed out Paramount couldn't make a good sequel after part V. They get even worse part to part from VI to to awful part VIII. So here's a new try from new people.
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes The Sewers
Don't get me wrong, I love this franchise and especially the first part. And actually I had quite high hopes for this part, especially from promising title, even earlier two were so awful I thought it was that worse it could get. But I was wrong. Firstly the name is completely misleading, first hour we spend the time with Jason on a crappy boat and rest of the time in Manhattan's sewers. I expected this movie would be about Jason on Manhattan killing and chasing people but no, its about Jason on a holiday cruise, highly censored (and I'm not talking about MPAA cuts but showing style of killings in movie) so we don't even see most of killings. Plot is quite stupid and movie is boring. So I think its quite failed in its purpose, it wasn't entertaining or scary. I don't think this is Friday the 13th about all, its just a stupid and lame sequel. And I don't understand where they put 5 million in this movie (its highest budget on this series) there's nothing special in it, not in decoration, actors or anything.
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988)
Friday the 13th Part VII: The Mother of all ripoffs
This movie is so bad I have problems to find words for it. Even it has horrible script and editing it have a so cliché and cheesy plot; evil stepfather who only use his stepdaughter to his own test and mother who don't believe her about his male friend being bad. This plot is from some eighties family movie. Also it ripoffs seventies and eighties well known horror classics; main character is Carrie, some of scenes in the woods are directly from Evil Dead and even as this wouldn't be enough the ending is from A Nightmare on Elm Street. I thought earlier part was bad but I was wrong; this is worse. I assumed that this movie would just be about zombie killer Jason chasing teenagers but its just a little portion of the plot. There's a hole lot more idiotic entity served for you!
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985)
Accidentally a Straight Flush
As underrated as every part of horror movie series without an regular antagonist (thought some of them earns, it this doesn't) this movie have way too low respect. Actually its the best of sequels. The next part before 7th with 3rd are stupidest of series. 3rd earns some respect for introducing the iconic hockey mask but its still quite poor movie. 6th is just a stupid splatter with idiotic plot and bad humor. Good part of the series ends to this movie and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre like but even worse splatter series with zombie Jason starts from next. This movie have least irritating and stupid humor and characters of series. There is them too but still its the least stupid from others. Also good idea of making fake Jason instead of not so good idea of making Tom new Jason (which was not done fortunately and in which movies name refers) was according to making story some kind of "accidental" but is still quite well made. Its sad that people need to have every part same like and if somebody have good idea without for example same antagonist its automatically bad. 6th part is dull and idiotic but fans like it better than this and even 7th...
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)
Cheesy kids adventure movie
This movie starts the 80's child version of Ghostbusters or a some comic book hero team like kid Avengers in the A Nightmare On Elm Street series which is repeated also next sequels. I guess I've should known that from title(Dream Warriors...) which is like a kids adventure movie name and the content is also that too. There's some good elements like mental institution as an environment. Characters in the movie are so cliché that its incredibly generic 80's childish adventure movie; one black bad ass, one handicap, one shy girl, one loud girl etc. And the most stupid thing, they become superheroes in their dreams. Together they try to save their lives and/or dreams from Freddy Kruger. Many bad ideas are first time in this movie and repeated in other sequels. Recasting Heather Langenkamp to this movie was not a good idea, her character is unnecessary to the story. There's also quite stupid ways to die like to be smashed into TV and bad Freddy jokes. From here it goes even worse in next the sequels, more and more bad jokes and unnecessarily brutal, long and dull ways to kill. Unfortunately Wes Craven's presence in writing the story and screenplay doesn't make this film near as good as the original ANOES. If you ask me I recommend you to skip all these sequels to 6th and watch the first part and 6th.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)
(The story of) how Freddy got too much screen time
It gets as worse as it remains in next parts from these part, too much time for Freddy on the screen (with bad jokes), stupid killings and mindless plot. As always, Rennys style to shoot is quite childish and way too brutal. This is best of his directions I've seen but not quite convincing. There's much more 80's music and dancing scenes (like in Footloose and such 80's musical movies) than any other parts of A Nightmare on Elm Street series. The best part is when nearly every main character from previous movie was killed (because they were quite irritating). Also even the first part was kind of brutal (wich I liked) this one goes too far; its kind of childish. Also plot is quite stupid, Freddy has been buried 3 times before this and even still he terrorizes kids dreams. And his recovering story isn't even good or clever. There is also some lazy things like first deaths; earlier only way you could die in dreams and real life in same time was that Freddy killed you with certain way and then you don't for example burn in real life, your body is just burn but don't burn like you could see it in real life. Now those deaths and ways to die come to real life and also real life and dreams/nightmares mixes together. This movie is little bit unfinished.
Batman: Arkham Origins (2013)
Not so good as it could be
This game series has been very good to this point. When earlier parts were made by Rocksteady Studios nearly everything was near perfect. This one is made by another studio, WB Montreal because Rocksteady wanted to concentrate to the next part, Arkham Knight instead of this so called "interlude". This game was the first (and latest to date) game made by WB Montreal and that maybe explains some of the weaknesses in game. Arkham Origins is place in few years before the first part Arham Asylum, before Batman met Gordon and Joker. Batman meets many previously unknown villains from earlier games and learns from them. The plot is the best in this, I would give it an 8. Technical presentation is the weakest part, maybe 6. There is many bugs and little graphical weaknesses. As the game tries to be very alike earlier games there is changes in looks of the characters (of course some of them is necessary because they are younger) and environment; some of them are good and some bad. For example Joker is better looking but Bruce Wayne is not. Anyway this story is necessary to tell and its well told. In the bottom line there's a lot which could made better but for good story its playable.
Saints Row 2 (2008)
Poor man's GTA
I have mixed feelings about this game. Its some kind of mixture of spoofing and alike games like GTA series but some things are odd. There's many interesting ideas and side missions that would worked in GTAs; editing main characters looks, choosing gender and voice from multiple options (and you can change these things after beginning by "plastic surgery"), balancing on a driving car, taking hostages when stealing a car to that point they're ready to pay the ransoms, mayhem missions where your job is destroy things and "fight club" missions. Also many other things are customizable. You can smoke weed and drink and there is many things which are familiar from GTAs. In the other hand some things from graphics to the gaming experience is made in "who cares" attitude and supposedly "tongue-in-cheek" (not always in a good way) its sometimes odd. Also there is some things I like more in GTAs like a linear story telling (in Saints you get a mission by getting respect by playing side missions). Its like GTA San Andreas graphics on new generation game consoles with odd plot and sometimes unfinished experience.
