Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997)
A Proper good, watch that you will watch over and over again
Romy and Michele have moved on a lot since High School. At High School they always felt they were quite popular and always had a laugh, but when they get an invite to go to their high school reunion, and they look through there Year Book, they realize that they weren't as cool as they think, and that the lives they have know aren't as brilliant as they thought they were, so before they go back to their reunion they come up with a story, to make up to make their lives sound more successful than they really, are but in the process they have and massive argument and decided to g their own separate ways, when they get to the reunion, but will they be able to pull off their big lie, and will they ever be friends again ? This is a great quirky movie! This film is great for teenagers especially girls, as they will enjoy the banter between all of the characters but also understand what Romy and Michele are going through and also understand how popular people are really just mean people and how horrible they can be. This film is also great because of the moral it has in it, and that is " It doesn't matter if you are a nerd in high school, because in the end you are going to come out on top" and that is what this movie represents. This film is also a feel good film and will make you just feel happy inside whilst you watch it. The actor in this movie is superb, because they really make the characters come alive and make them seem like real people, even though all the characters area little bizarre and eccentric. This is a great film and you can never get bored off this movie and it is one you watch time after time. All in all this is just a great Chick Flick and Feel Good movie and the soundtrack is just brilliant, especially if you love all that 80's Music.
Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
Rays Of Sunshine!
What the best thing to do if your family is a financial and personal crisis? Take a road Trip Of course; well that's what the Hoover Family did. Richard Hoover is unemployed and is trying to make his idea of the "10 steps to becoming a winner" Go global. Sheryl Hoover is a housewife and spends all her time trying to make her kids happy. Dwayne Hoover is there son, and has taken a vowel of silence until he can go to flight school. Olive Hoover is just an ordinary girl, but has the dream of becoming the next Miss America. Grandpa Edwin Hoover lives with his son's family as he got kicked out of his nursing home as he got caught taking a line heroin, and his philosophy of life it to do everything even it kills you. Frank Hoover has just moved into his sister's house, as he has now been let out of hospital as he tried to kill himself, when he got fired, lost his house, lost an award that he should of got and his gay lover left him. So all together they make one jumbled up family. When Olive gets told that she is going to be a finalist in the Little Miss Sunshine beauty Pageant, the whole family drives across the country to get her there on time, but while they make it in time, and by the end of it, will they be a much closer family? This is a movie, that everyone will enjoy, children will not find it funny though, as they will not understand most of it, teens may understand some and find it slightly humorous, but adults will love it and find it funny and thought provoking. A great performance from the virtually unknown Abigail Breslin, she makes a very cute olive and is really believable. Once again another strange performance from Steve Carrel. This movie is really enjoyable, but not maybe you would want to watch over again and again. It really does make you think about yourself, your life, the world we live in and other's around, especially the one you love the most. You're Family. The Humor in the movie is rather crude at times, and does have a kind of "damn the world" attitude to it. This movie is also a bit quirky and if you like those random and weird movies then is defiantly one for you as it is full or weird and random story lines and it is full of quirky jokes. The jokes in this movie isn't so upfront and are obvious to see, they just kind of creep up on you. As well as all of this this movie shows an insight into the sick world of beauty Pageant's and how little girls and made up to be like porcelain dolls and act like them to, its shows how horrible it must be for children in those beauty pageants and how completive the movie can be. Like I've said adults will absolutely love this movie and think it's hilarious whereas most children will not, but it is defiantly and movie to go and see at least once, whatever age you are.
School of Rock (2003)
The Movie That Bought Rock To A Brand New Generation
The Movie that brought Rock to a new generation. Dewey Fin (Black) is a wannabe rock star and need money to pay his rent, but as he has just been kicked out of his band so he doesn't have the money and try to fink of ways to get the money. Then Rosalie Mullins (Cusack) the principle of Horest green prep school, and asks for his roommate Ned (White) who is a substitute teacher, then Dewey sees an opportunity to get the money. At first he hates working there an just lets the kids have recess all the time, which most kids would enjoy except from the likes of Summer (Hathaway), but when he hears them in a music class he has a change of heart. He then teaches the class about rock music and the history rock and he forms a band with them and himself and enters them in the battle f the bands, but while they win battle of the bands and will he get caught out? I really do believe that this movie brought rock music to teens and especially the old rock bands. Everyone knows who the Beatles are and the Rolling Stones, but before this movie not many knew who Led Zeppelin of ACDC was or at least listened to their music and this movie really brought the rock legends back into people midscope. I think this is a great movie and although the storyline is a bit unbelievable I still think it makes a great movie and definitely one you would want to watch again and again. I think that it is set in a school gives the movie a new energy to it and also that the kids play their own instruments really shows you what talent kids at that age really have. I think anyone young or old will enjoy this movie and will enjoy the music too.
Bugsy Malone (1976)
My Name Is Tallulah!
The first and only gangster movie to involve cream. Bugsy Malone (Baio) was a ladies man and a regular at the club "Fat Sam's" were the famous Tallulah (Foster) normally performs, Tallulah is going out with Fat Sam (Cassisi) the owner of the club, this is also the head quarters of his gang. Fat Sam's gang is under threat as another gang is trying to take other there territory, and doing this very successfully as they have "Splurge Guns". Whilst as Fat Sam's Bugsy meets Blousey (Dugger) and they start dating. One, by one all of fat Sam's gang is killed off and only he is left. Bugsy then promised Blousey he will buy them a ticket to Hollywood, so to get the money he begging to work for fat Sam and help him save his business but will he succeed and will him and Blousey ever make it to Hollywood? This is a very unique movie and they will never by one like it. It is unique in3 ways.1. It is a gangster movie which uses child actors, which brings a knew type of energy to the movie.2. It uses splurge guns instead of real guns which use dream instead of bullets and this makes the movie more suitable for younger children and 3. When the children are singing it's not actually them singing, which make the songs sound nicer but is also quite a comedic effect to see this big strong voices, coming out of such little kids .I also think it is interesting that some of the actors become very famous actors when they got older such a Scott Baio and Jodie Foster. I think this movie is great and there is just something about it is just great, and all the characters are so lovable. It's just a great family film for anyone and is suitable for all ages and everyone will enjoy it!
Just Friends (2005)
A Movie Of Real Life
A tale of the position that most people have been in, "The Friend Zone". Chris Brander (Reynolds) is in love with his best friend Jamie Palamino (Smart), but the problem is he is already in the friend zone, so she rejects him at her graduation party.10 years later Chris is forced to return to his old town with his rock star maniac of a companion Samantha James (Faris). Chris then meets Jamie at a bar and they organize to meet, and this time Chris is going to do everything, not to go back into the friend zone, but with Samantha breathing down his neck he does everything he can to get her out of the way, but will he be able to keep out of the friend zone and make her fall in love with him? This is a great movie for those themselves who have been in the friend zone. Ryan Reynolds does a very comedic performance and Anna Faris does a great performance as the crazy Samantha James. Also Amy smart does a very likable performance as Jamie Palamino. Adults will like this movie as it's not too rude and those that have been through it will enjoy it a lot especially as some have been through the experiences such as the "body shake". The Storyline is very realistic as it is based on the writers and producers true experiences This movie is rude in some parts but it's not terrible, it's a very good movie and teens will love it, especially as many of the are going through this now, both girls and boys .
You, Me and Dupree (2006)
You, Me and Not so Funny Dupree
A So-So movie, but better than expected Molly (Hudson) and Carl (Dillon) and Newlyweds and are as happy as can be, but when Dupree (Wilson) Carl's best mate loses his home, car and job, they take him in for a little while, but a little while soon becomes a long time and he starts to cause problems in their lives and their marriage, to make matter worse Carl recently got promoted at molly's dad's (Douglas) company but his promotion starts to put a lot of stress on Carl, and as molly dad starts to make snide comments to Carl, about him and their marriage he starts to get frustrated. He gets even more angry when Molly and Dupree start getting rather friendly, and soon all hell breaks lose, but while Carl realise his mistakes, while he get Molly's dad to like him ,will molly be able to forgive him and will Dupree ever move out!? This movie is a lot better than I first thought. When I first went to this movie, I wasn't really looking forward to it and it did take it's time to get started but then I was soon pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't say this movie was a comedy as their was only the one or two joke in it, and what mainly mad this movie funny, was Owen Wilson's always comedic performance. The storyline however, is really rather interesting and it's not really a movie you could predict and you always waiting to see what the wacky Dupree was going to do next. The ending in some respects was rather predictable, but so are most movies these days. I would say this movie is for all ages really, but I think younger children may get bored with it and you may not be happy with your child watching a movie which talks about porn and masturbation in it, so really I would say teenagers and older will mainly enjoy this movie. I wouldn't say this film is one you would want to watch again and again, but it is certainly enjoyable to watch once or twice.
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
A Funny But Kinda Porno Movie
An OK movie about how harder it gets to lose your virginity the older you get. Andy (Carell) is 40 and virgin and when his work mates find out they do they best to help him lose it, but none of their advice helps and he ends up meeting the perfect women for him, but will he have the guts to tell her or to even do the deed? This is a good movie, but can make u feel uncomfortable at times. It is a funny movie and is defiantly for teens or older, I also think this movie is more for men than women, but I think women will like it also. Some of the jokes in it are rather rude and grotesque. If you are a parent and you don't want your kids to know certain things about sex or to basically watch men with erections, naked women, or lesbian action then don't take your children to see this. Also if you don't want to see these things then don't watch it. This film is very good apart from these factors and does have some very smart jokes.
The Wind in the Willows (1996)
A Pythonesque Movie With Animals!
A real life interpretation of Wind in the Willows. Wind in the Willows was originally written by Kenneth Grahame in 1908.The Story is based around the self-absorbed Mr. Toad and his friends Rat, Mole and Badger. Toad becomes obsessed with motor cars, but keeps crashing them, and in the end it selling his field to the weasels to pay for more motor cars. So His friends try to help him by keeping him locked up inside until he gets over his obsession but one day he sneaks out when Rat goes down stays to fetch the picnic basket. In the end He gets arrested for stealing a Motor Car, Crashing it and assaulting a police officer. He then gets sent to jail for 100 years. While he is in jail, the weasels plan to blow up Toad Hall, his home. So, Luckily Rat and Mole Come up with a plan to rescue him, but will they get to toad hall in time? This is a great Movie a highly under rated. It is a great movie for all of those fans of Monty Python as it has 4 of the Python's in it, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, John Cleese and Michael Palin. This Movie is rather weird and random and does have the odd funny joke. This movie at time can be rather confusing, but it all joins up in the end. The all comedian cast really brings the characters to life, as well as their over the top costumes do as well. Steve Coogan does a very good job as the timid mole, and at ties it is hard to tell it is him. Terry Jones additionally does a marvelously comical job as the insane and arrogant Mr. Toad. Plus Eric idle does a commendable job as the clever Rat. This is a great Movie for Python fans, and for all ages, but maybe more suitable for the ages 7 to 12 mainly.
The Cat in the Hat (2003)
Not Terrible, but No Perfect and Nothing Compare To The Book
The Cat In The Hat
Mike Myers-The Cat Dakota Fanning-Sally Alex Baldwin-Lawrence Kelly Preston-Mum Spencer Breslin-Conrad Sean Hayes- Mr. Humberfloob/Fish (Voice) Amy Hill- Mrs. Kwan
A film of the famous Dr Seuss' book The Cat In The Hat. Conrad (Breslin) and Sally's (Fanning) mum (Preston) works for Humberfloob Real Estate and her boss (Hayes) is a clean freak .That Evening she is having all her important clients over for dinner and the house must stay clean and she makes this very clear to Conrad and Sally before she goes back to work. She leaves Mrs. Kwan (Hill) to look after them while she is at work, and to make sure that they don't make a mess of the house. Mrs. Kwan then falls asleep and as it starts to rain Conrad an sally get very bored, but then they met the Cat (Myers). The Cat in the Hat to be precise, he is all about having fun ,and does his best to try and teach Conrad and Sally how to have fun, as Sally is a control freak and Conrad is a rule breaker, but while they mess up the house whilst trying to have some fun, and will Lawrence (Baldwin) find out about the Cat and finally get Conrad sent to military school? This is a great film, as it is full of adventure laughs and a bit of fantasy. This is also a good movie, for those who like Mike Myers as he does a good performance as The Cat and does his usual weird lines and faces in this movie. This movie is a bit peculiar, but then again so is the book. As an interpretation of the book, I don't think it did so well, I think this movie is maybe a little frightening for the age it is meant for, also the jokes are rather crude and not many young children would understand them. The affects in this more are rather poor, as they really don't look real. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is a lot better than this movie. I wouldn't say this Movie is awful, if it was just a movie and not an interpretation of the book, then yes it is a good movie, but as it is a interpretation it is not so good and really does not do the book justice. All in all, this is a good movie, but it is not one of the greats and certainly doesn't live up to the book. I think that some children may enjoy it but other may not. It is not really for young children though, ages 7 and up I would suggest that may enjoy this movie.
John Tucker Must Die (2006)
A Great Movie For Teens But Not For The Older Generation Perhaps
A story of how girls can get revenge when boys can be lying cheater. Kate (Snow) is the new girl in school, but often feels invisible. Kate has moved to many schools because of her mum always makes her move town, when her latest boyfriend sneaks out of the house once, he has got what he wanted. Kate is waitress, and along the next 3 days at work, she serves john tucker (Metcalfe) the most popular boy in school, go on 3 dates with 3 different girls. On the first day she sees him with Carrie (Kebble) she is the Schools news reporter. On the second date he is with heather (Ashanti) she is the schools head cheer leader, and on the 3rd date he is with Beth (Bush) she is a vegan and is all about animal rights. One day after this all 4 girls are sent to detention, where ate revels to the other 3 that he was cheating on all of them, they then hatch a plan to get this Serial-Cheater back ,for the pain he has caused them. This movie is great for teens, but for not younger children and most adults, also it is more for girls but some boys may like it. This movie shows that even if girls hate each other they can all pull together for a common cause. Men. It Connotes how teenagers mind's work these days and what a lot of boys or out to get from girls rather than be a couple. Also it shows how arrogant men can be, by showing that the boys in this movie see nothing wrong with two timing or three timing. Additionally it also demonstrates how girls sometimes use each other to get what they want, whether they are friends or not. This movie is perfectly executed and has a very good script to it and the ideas of what the girls come up with to do to John. All in all this is a good fun comedy, but not for the older generation, most teen aged girls will love it on the other hand.
Chicago (2002)
A Murderess Musical that uses Dark Humor
Chicago
Catherine Zeta-Jones-Velma Kelly Renée Zellweger-Roxie Hart Richard Gere-Billy Flynn John C. Reilly-Amos Hart Queen Latifah-Matron Mamma Morton Dominic West-Fred Casley
Runtime: 113 min Certificate: 12A for sexual content and dialogue, violence and thematic elements.
A Movie Interpretation of the Musical Play Chicago, written by Bob Fosse and Fred Ebb. This Movie Is a Black comedy/Crime/musical about what it takes to become a star, and what lengths some will take to become one The Movie becomes at the club "the onnex" where the Kelly sister is meant to be performing, but only Velma (Zeta-Jones) turns up. As Velma performs the show single handedly we see Roxie Hart (Zellweger) watching in the audience, and it becomes clear that we are watching the whole, movie through Rosie's eyes .As the show continues, we see Roxie having an affair with Fred Casley (West).Towards the end of the show we see a couple of policeman walk into the club and look straight at Velma, Velma then Finishes the song superbly and the light go out. It then cuts to Roxie and Fred and it is obviously a couple of weeks later. The two of them start to have a fight as Fred lied to her about setting her up to performs at the onnex as she wants to become a star. Just before Fred leaves, it a volatile state Roxie pulls out a gun and shots him 3 times. We later return to the scene of the crime ,where policeman and investigating the murder, and we see Amos Hart(Reilly) Taking the blame for the murder and saying that the deceased body was a burglar, but when he discovers that the body is Fred Casley he twigs that Roxie was having an affair, and gives away the whole thing. Roxie is then carted off to jail, where she meets matron mama Morton (latifah) who basically tells Roxie that if Roxie helps mama, Mamma Morton would help her. Mamma starts helping Roxie by phoning the best lawyer In town who has never lost a case, Billy Flynn (Gere), but first she has to give mama 100 bucks to make the phone call, but also Billy wanted 5000 bucks before he would even start the case .So, Amos, as he still loves Roxie tries to get the money together but only gets 2000 bucks but Billy agrees to take the case as he felt sorry for Amos. Billy was also the lawyer of Velma Kelly, and at that moment she was getting a lot of press, and was acting like a queen bee, so prior to an argument they had both had on one of Roxie's first days, it was then a race, to see who could get the most publicity, and get let free first. Roxie started to gain some popularity but lost it when another woman shot 3 people, so to get it back Roxie made up a fake story that she was pregnant. Of course Amos was over-joyed but what he didn't no was that there wasn't a kid. As Roxie's popularity grew Velma was pushed out of the limelight and even lost her trail date. As Roxie trail date grew closer, Velma decided she would have to suck up to her, if she wanted to get anything anymore, so she tried offering Roxie to take her sister place and so they could become a double act. On the day of her trail Roxie was very nervous, but she felt a bit better with the encouragement from Billy, but we she get off, or will she get hanged and what tricks has Billy got up his Sleeve. This movie shows how badly, some people want to be in show business and what extreme lengths they will go to, to get what they want. The storyline of this movie on its self, would make an okay movie, but with the added songs, it is a terrific movie. The songs are very catchy even though what they are normally singing about is quite vulgar. Also the dance number's in these songs a perfectly executed. What also makes the movie so good is the all star cast. Renee zellweger does a terrific job as Roxie and really shows, how she changed while in prison very Well. Catherine Zeta-Jones, show off her superb Dancing and singing as Velma Kelly. John c. Reilly does an incredible performance as Amos especially when he sings the sing Mr. Cellophane. Even Richard Gere pulls out his good dance moves along with his always good acting. The Only Problem with this movie is that some may find it a bit confusing at times, as sometimes when the dance numbers come up, you don't know whether they are in Roxie's imagination or they are actually happening. Altogether this Movie is rather good, and keeps the audience interested with all its twists and turns, and how the mind's work of these Murderess, That just wanted to be a star that started with a bang.
My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006)
An Okay Movie It Could Of Been Better
A Simple, Normal Storyline with a twist. Boy meets Girl, boy Likes Girl, they get together, then he dumps her for being over protected and he suffers the consequences. The Twist to this story is that Jennie (Thurman) the girl that Matt (Wilson) dates was in fact the famous super hero "G Girl". When Matt First meets Jennie, he is worried that she is the boring Liberian type and he was also a bit worried about her exocentric nature, but he soon find out how passionate she is. After a couple of days together Matt decides to brake it off with Jennie, as he finally realizes he loves his co-worker Hannah (Faris) but its appears that Jennie has already fallen for Matt and is madly in love with him so she gets mad and does whatever she can to make his life hell from then on. This Movie takes to the extremes of what revenge women often want to take out on men, when they have broken their heart. Although this movie does have super heroes and villains in it, it is defiantly not for children as there are some scenes of a sexual nature, and some of it is adult humor. The story line to this movie is good, and the odd joke does pop up from time to time, but it seems to rush through the story a bit, as it only seems by the end that Matt and Jennie went on about 4 dates only, and because of this it doesn't really explain how Jennie could of fallen in love with him after this small amount of time. Apart from these factors the movie is pretty good if you go and see it, you will enjoy it, but it is not the type of movie that you would want to watch again and again.
Cars (2006)
A Really Good Film,Better Than a Thought It Would Be
A Fun light hearted animated comedy for all the family. Lightening McQueen (Wilson) was The new rookie in the race car world, but he was a force not to reckoned with as he proved when he came joint first with Chick Hicks (Keaton) the race car who always came runner up and The King (petty) the race car, who always comes first and is the sponsor of dinocco, but this is his last race as he is retiring after this. As the 3 Race cars became joint 1st another race is organized in California, with just them 3 racing for the piston cup. All 3 race cars then make their way to California; McQueen is desperate to get their first so he can hang out with the dinnoco team, so that after The King retires he will become more likely to be their new sponsor. He makes his truck driver Mack (Ratzneburge) Drive through the night without a rest, but unfortunately Mack falls a sleep while driving and McQueen falls out of the truck and ends up in the middle of no where. On his way to try and find Mack again McQueen gets lost and end up causing a lot of damage in a town called Radiator Springs. The town, as a punishment make McQueen redo the road as he has pulled the entire road up. First of McQueen hates the town and does the road really quickly, so he can get to California quicker, but he ends up doing it again as he has left it all bumpy. After a couple of days McQueen begins to like Radiator Springs and Find's a friend in Mater (Cable Guy) and a love interest in sally (Hunt), but he still has one thing on his mind, The piston cup, will he be able to make it in time and will he be able to win the race, even without the help of his new friends. Once again Pixar have produced another good movie. The animation of the movie is superb and after a while, you actually begin to fell that the cars are actually real people. All ages will enjoy this movie as it has lots of different qualities to it, and also the jokes, can be understood by many ages. Also, the all star cast really brings this movie to life and makes you almost fell part of the story. Also the way the character looks gives you an idea of their personality and what type of car they are. This Movie has lots of different morals to it such as "Don't Judge a book, by its cover" "Doing the right thing a losing is better than doing the wrong thing and winning" and "Don't drive while you are tired". Although this movie is not as good as Toy Story and the Animation is not as good as Finding Nemo it is still a very good Movie and a Great Family Film.
