Joseph (1995)
Classic Biblical Mini Series.
I remember watching this when it first came out. While I am not the most religious. This is a beautiful story related to the power of faith and perseverance. I am currently re-watching it now and decided it deserved a rating. They really do not make classics like this any more.
This was the second Ben Kingsley appearance after Moses. The writing of this was clear and from start to finish it was easy to follow along. While I cant say how accurate it is in regards to the biblical story. This adaptation would be fitting for believers and non believers. A masterpiece. Rated G and suitable for all ages.
A.I. Rising (2018)
This could have been so much more.
Overall I liked this very much. That being said, it missed the mark with an incomplete feeling. If only they used more dialog and developed. I will say there was more of a carnal focus.
That isn't a problem with more substance. We are left with assumptions of what was learned only in specific moments. I really think with better writing and details it could have been better. It is a beautiful story in the end.
I feel the direction was a very lazy one that relied on the visuals. If they were going for a more cinematic feel. I suppose they succeed more so than story telling. However, in modern times it isn't that hard to create good/great visual effects. Superb storytelling is a lost art.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
10 out of 10
When rating and reviewing films I like to keep it simple. Based on if i had more criticisms vs things I like. that makes it better of course. Thinking back on the complete work. I honestly cant remember 1 single thing I did not enjoy. I did thinking the 1:59 mins or so would feel longer but i am finding it to feel shorter than with other flims I did not enjoy. The storyline and acting seemed just right and there wasnt a moment where I wasnt wanting to see what happens next.
I also put flims in either the Would i recommend or not and this is a clear Heck Yes! I am really going to be on the look out for future flims from this story. For the love of cheese I hope the next one is just as refreshing as the first.
The Beyond (2017)
So much potential...........
I was really optimistic after watching the promo because I do really enjoy good thought provocing Sci Fi films. I honestly do not mind borrowed concepts or being like this flim or that flim as long as some originality can be found. The first 1/3 up into almost half way kept me mildly interested. I assumed there needed to be a build up. But this flim just missed marks all over. The last 1/3 seemed rushed or crammed. As if the funds ran out and they had to just end it. Yes it has a first contact/ the arrival and a smig of interstellar perhaps but there was no cohesion.. No payoff IMO. Some may like this buf I for one did not. Especially when you have other Great flims this is trying to be like.
