Made for Love (2021)
A long, familiar Black Mirror episode
I was hoping for something new, but up until episode 3 it is a Black Mirror story. And normally 1 episode is enough to get the idea of the use of technologie going wrong. I like Cristin Milioti acting and Billy Magnussen plays a creepy guy. But the tech idea is not enough for a tv series. So I hope new elements will be added the following episodes, if not, i have seen enough.
Enola Holmes (2020)
Sherlock Holmes reimagined by/for a teenage girl
This movie seems to be a Sherlock Holmes imagined by a teen girl. With a warm father figure Sherlock, a dumb Mycroft, her playing the hero, a innocent romance and everything else a young girl would come up with.
Is it bad? No, but it was not made for me.
The Secret: Dare to Dream (2020)
Praise the Law, halleluyah!
This is like those candy sweet Christian movies, where you feel the J word coming from miles away.
Except it is not about the Lord but about the Law, of attraction. And I like that law, so the whole cheezy storytelling to explain the Secret, still gave me a good feeling.
Cursed (2020)
It's not great, but not 1/10 terrible either
I see that 1/10 the hate train has passed by in the review section. But it is not that bad. It is not original either, nor briljant. Its mediocre. I guess we are so much spoiled with awesome tv series, that everything less than that is considered as absolutely crap. Just watch it, try it, if it is something for you.
6 Underground (2019)
It's a lot
How much violence, action, that modern humor and familiar scenes can you put in a movie? A lot! Not feeling connection or tension, it's just so over the top. It's not bad, just a lot.
The Promise (2016)
An ok film with a statement
It is a good thing that the Armenian genocide gets more attention. The Turkish government is lying about it, just like they deny their intentions to kill the Kurdish people.
Is it a good film? Well, its a love story, a know fact of the French playing a role and the horrific genocide the Turks committed.
Therefor it has a lot of 1's and a lot of 10's. The war is still continuing. When will we grow up as humanity?
The Boys (2019)
Funny, gross, sexy
Loved this show. Great humor, great acting, heartfelt emotional pain and gross violence. Loved Frenchy and his gf. And a great role of Elisabeth Shue, being the beautiful, sexy powerhunger bosslady. I want more!
Another Life (2019)
Why would they send this bunch of drama babies into space?
Is this series meant to tell an interesting story? About what could happen with aliens arriving on the planet? That would have been an interesting show for me to watch. As realistic as possible. And inspiring maybe, like Star Trek could be sometimes.
But it is not. It is unrealistic teen drama pur sang. With people you would never hire for this job. Constantly creating tension, drama, competition. It's Love Island in space. Even the computer is a cry baby, being scared when something happens. Why would you add that to a computer!
Too bad, could have been fun.
Game Over, Man! (2018)
Tell me this is not the new standard
What a dumb movie. Over the top, genital jokes, strong violence, dumb story.
And how can this guy shamelessly copy Jack Black? Isnt there some sort of code for that?
Passengers (2016)
In between snack and different than suggested in the trailer
I liked the movie, but that was because I knew I shouldn't expect a sci-fi story, but more a simple romance. With good looking people and a good looking spaceship and action. It is an attractive looking and tasting snack, for in between.
Sort of Spoiler alert: The last line in the trailer however suggests something else: He says "There is something I have to tell you. There is a reason that we woke up early" In the movie he says "There is something I have to SHOW you." And the last line is never said in the movie, and the first line was connected to something else. Those two fake lines together suggested for me another more complex or exciting plot than it actually is. A real movie-watch-bait trick. Intentionally. Maybe that's why the movie disappointing for a lot of people, as they were suggested to believe there was more.
Space Station 76 (2014)
Just not what you expect these days and funny in its own way
Reading the comments and ratings, this movie does not seem to be watched by the right people. I think the problem seems to be in the expectations and the movie being something different than what we are used to these days when you read the plot of the movie.
If you expect a normal sci-fi, where the sci-fi part is important for the story, it's not, it's just the setting. The cheap 70's sci-fi look is humor for me.
If you expect a comedy, with clear, loud jokes, or people being funny, it's not. I found the humor more in the irony and in the annoyingness and painfulness of the characters.
If you expect a spectacular blockbuster, it's not, it's almost more an art-house movie.
If you expect a serious drama, it's not, although it is about loneliness and emptiness in people.
So yes, I actually did enjoy it, because it was different and well made.
