A very nice Van Damme movie in which he shows that he 's still got it. He is in perfect shape too and there is an actual storyline. Way to go!

A vulnerable hero! Don't miss it!

Warning: Spoilers
Do not listen to bad reviews from people who are used to super heros. Our hero was a special forces Capten with a difficult past, full of tortures. Now, away from all of that he is trying to get by, fighting his demons through drug medication. He is alienated from his family (son and wife) but his little daughter loves him greately.
One time, when going to see their father, the two kids stop at a burger house. The son didn't want to go to his father's house. Instead, he meets with sone friends there and, suddenly, his sister is kidnapped.
Then, their dad goes "hunting", trying to find his daughter.
In a few words, this is not another "Taken" movie. Our hero can be hurt, hit and lose. But he stands again to continue fighting. He has a brutal past, but that doesn't make him invicible. That's what's great in this movie. The vulnerability of the character. Last but not least, the movie is also very emotional, especially in the end, when son and father bond again. Don't miss it

No real gore scenes. In some cases, no scenes at all. Poor zombie making. Boring plot flow. I say if you 're planning to do something, at least, do it right. The only thing that matters is the presence of Milla Jovovich. Hence the 5 stars

Facing reality isn't allways a peaceful process...

What can anyone say about this film? So claustrophobic and raw, that in the end, it isn't for anyone. Whilst some people see only green trees and white clouds, somewhere else, inside small houses and not so small famillies, the butchery continues. It needs not to be physical. The hateful stares, the each other's ignorance, the disorientation, the false priorities, the drowning in a a small teaspoon of water are an everyday . Under the heat of the greek summer, are you ready to see through the keyhole?

Poetry in horror...

"Stay by my side
as my light grows dim,
as my blood slows down,
and my nerves shatter
with stabbing pain,
as my heart grows weak,
and the wheels of my being
turn slowly.
Stay by my side
as my fragile body is racked by pain,
which verges on truth...
and manic time,
continues scattering dust,
and furious life bursts out in flames.
Stay by my side
as I fade...
so you can point
to the end of my struggle...
and the twilight...
of eternal days...
at the low, dark edge of life."

The only way to watch this is forgetting the past

Warning: Spoilers
I undesrstand why there are so many negative reviews. Notwithstanding, the movie is not so bad, if you try to watch it as an independent one. I mean: don't wait for an alien 5 or something like that. Secondly, try to ignore the stupidity of some script ideas (an unprotected group explores an unknown planet etc). Instead, focus on the two androids, the different xenoforms, the story itself in its entirety and, ofcourse the visual effects. The thing that bothered me the most is the odd participation of James Franco. What the heck was that?
In the end, in my opinion, just enjoy...

For Scientific Validity, please watch Carl Sagan!

From my point of view, most of the users' reviews have one thing in common; the search/demand for scientific validity. What on Earth? Have we forgotten how it is to enjoy a film without grabbing a scientific book? The film is great and anyone can watch it with pleasure. Of course there are "holes" in the script, inaccurate scientific dialogs etc. But hey, tell me a film that was all the way accurate (except maybe from "2001: A Space Odyssey").
You can find scientific holes in a bunch of sci-fi films: Matrix, Avatar, Interstellar but they were all great films Take for example "Avatar". All the big living things (like the Direhorse) on the planet Pandora have six legs! Sorry but you cannot run when one leg is just beside the other! It is orthopedically wrong. But still I love the film.
So my opinion is this. Enjoy the movie.
