I would like to rate this movie higher as this movie does have its moments of humor and charm. But it has the unfortunate distinction of following Live and Let Die and preceding The Spy Who Loved Me, both movies that were funnier and showcased Moore's wit and charm more than this one.
I must say I did not enjoy the funhouse sequences as I thought it rather nonsensical. The pre title sequence was a pretty good sequence as Christopher Lee showcased his acting chops and why he would become an iconic villain in the franchise and Maud Adams showcased why she would become a Bond girl later on as she was beautiful.
The song is by far and away one of the worst songs I have heard in a Bond movie. Lulu sounds like a screech owl. The worst song in the Roger Moore era as this one lacked the pizzaz of Live and Let Die and the romanticness of the next four.
As for the movie, it was lackluster as Britt Ekland was a rather annoying Bond girl whose acting was wooden and stiff. I also feel like JW Pepper should have been left in the Louisiana Bayou as he felt out of place in Thailand and felt more like a shoehorned excuse for comic foil in a movie that desperately needed it and didn't get it. And don't forget the slide whistle was one of the worst moments in the franchise and I desperately wished that the Blu Ray and DVD releases would have removed the slide whistle from the impressive corkscrew stunt.
