3 Body Problem (2024)
Lots of potential : 0 Follow through
This show had some really interesting ideas and concepts. It could've gone really far. But each episode just keeps introduces the beginning of a sentence, without finishing it. It's never finished. Not even in the last episode. Which was epically disappointing, introduced even more questions with absolutely no answers, follow up, or solution. I hate when shows do this. I don't even know if there's a second season...if there's more seasons then this is just ok. Still incredibly unsatisfying. If there's no more seasons, then wtf even was this? Epically pointless.
Lots of potential, lots of interesting thoughts, but in the end you're left empty.
Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV: Breaking the Silence (2024)
What even was this?
The documentary that first came out with the 4 episodes, was great. But what in the world even was this episode?
It felt randomly and hurriedly thrown together and in a completely different format than the rest of the doc. This episode doesn't even feel like it actually belonged in the series.
It just seemed more like 20/20 decided to do a round up, and then they randomly inserted it at the end of the other 4 episodes. It didn't even seem at all like the original producers had anything to do with this episode. It could've been its own standalone segment on the Today Show. It did not belong here and didn't provide any extra content or sustenance to the doc as a whole.
Waste of time, don't even bother watching.
Damsel (2024)
Not bad but not great
Definitely not the worst movie I've ever seen. You can tell their budget went into the locations and special effects. The set is absolutely beautiful, the costume design, the landscape, so well done. It is visually, a very cool and beautiful movie.
That being said, the overall story was just ok. Millie just did a lot of...panting and grunting the whole time.
One thing that bugs me about these shows is when they have a woman in obvious distress and this crazy ordeal of FIGHTING A DRAGON in a cave, and yet she somehow is wearing a perfect smokey eye and lipgloss? No...I hate when movies/shows do this because it's not only unrealistic but they clearly are just trying to give the audience something pretty to look at, which makes it more about the objectification of the woman and less about the story and what's happening.
I'd say a 6 is about what it deserves.
The Idaho College Murders (2023)
Skip this doc
I'm so tired of these old styled, news anchor type of documentaries that are full of fluff, disorganized information, and a lack of detail.
The interview style is annoying. I can hardly tolerate it. I just wanted more info on the case in one easy to find place. You'll get a better idea of this crazy case looking it up on TikTok.
They make it seem open and shut and don't cover any of the convoluted details that make this case such an interesting one to follow.
The spent way too long showing you how these are just your typical beautiful blonde college girls who liked dancing on TikTok.
Very little information on the layout of the house as well.
Oh and can I just mention again how annoying hearing the news anchors narrate this doc? As much as it pains me to say, maybe go get some tips from Netflix on what makes a good, modern day documentary.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024)
Kind of weird
Kind of a weird show tbh.
First, if you're expecting this to be at all similar to the movie, it's not. Not at all.
This show is...weird. The characters are not particularly likable and don't have much development either. And frankly, they're pretty dumb for supposing to be awesome spies.
The plot mystery is barely what's keeping me curious enough to keep watching. But it isn't like other shows where I look forward to the next episode, or like I need to binge it all as soon as possible.
It's just kind of ok. There isn't even a ton of action. Episode 5 was a great action sequence. But that was it.
Down the Hill: The Delphi Murders (2020)
Basically Nothing
Really not that great of a documentary. Which sucks cause it's a pretty crazy case if you know it! But honestly this doc was...boring.
There was almost no information on the actual case, I know at the time of its making there were no arrests. But it still could've been soooo much better.
It felt cheesy being narrated by what sounded just like a news anchor. The witnesses being interviewed provided nothing but character for the girls. The whole format was just boring and cheesy and felt like an extended dateline. I can't believe there was even two episodes. Everything could've been fit into a 10 minute YouTube videos.
The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard (2024)
Too bad it's on Lifetime
The documentary itself is awesome. I loved that we got to hear everything from her own words and perspective. A lot of what's in the earlier episodes is public knowledge already. But there are a few surprises in there.
It was interesting also getting a clearer image of what her history not only with her mom looked like but also her other family.
And I feel like the documentary did a good job using other professionals and doctors to back up what was being said.
It's just a massive bummer it's on Lifetime. The whole series is absolutely riddled with ads. To the point where it reminds me why I stopped subscribing to cable. It's seriously a commercial every 3 minutes. If Gypsy decides to do more, I just pray it's through a better streamer than Lifetime 😂
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
The Wish version of Dune
It was just ok. A 5 star rating seems accurate. Both husband and I were on our phones at multiple points throughout. There's a couple exciting scenes and some of it looks pretty cool. But it's not engaging, it's not thought provoking, it's predictable. Idk if it's Snyder or Netflix, but it clearly is trying to be like Dune.
Not a unique plot at all. Very predictable. I wasn't even that impressed with the graphics. For a Netflix/Snyder film, I was expecting better but it did not meet my expectations (in terms of plot or graphics).
Didn't pass the Bechdal test either but again it's Snyder so not surprised.
AND there's a weird distortion at most points in the whole movie. The entire edge of the screen as well as background and often foreground have this weird distortion, that almost looks like a TikTok filter. It messed with our eyes and we had to adjust for a bit.
Not the worst movie, but if there was a better option, I would pick that. Just doesn't seem like many good movies out these days.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Bread Crumbs with No Endings
This story throughout was a decent story. I enjoyed it while watching. But again, this is one of those movies where the ending ruins it. The whole movie feels like a lot of dropped breadcrumbs with no explanation. Which I could see being the point. Because they are isolated in the real world if this happened and you're cut off from society, you might never know what happened. But the unresolved ending just made it not worth it. It seemed like a lot of it they were leading you on to speculate, but I want to actually see the resolution not imagine it.
Besides that, most of the characters were very unlikable. The absolute horn-dog of a son that contributed nothing to the story. The 13 year old obsessed with Friends was pretty much what moved the ending of the movie. It was a bit of a let down to be honest.
The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
Disappointed in a creator I used to love
I used to love these creators. I used to consider them safe. I can't watch heavily sexually graphic content due to PTSD. I could rely on them to create amazing stories while still being safe, and knowing nothing sexual would be over done.
Midnight Club last year was a little disappointing in terms of story, I felt like it had potential and just let us down.
Now Fall has a grotesque amount of unnecessary graphic sexuality. I can skip or just deal with a lot of things but this is too much. I am so disappointed now that I can no longer rely on them. It seems so out of character. But they've been lowering their standards it seems.
Midnight Mass was an absolute work of art. Oh how far they've strayed from that...
It's so hard to find GOOD quality horror in both story and safe content. Won't be watching them anymore. How sad...
Sister Wives: One on One: Part 1 (2022)
Awful host for the Tell All
TLC, GET A BETTER HOST! I'm not sure if it's the host or if TLC just isn't allowing her to ask better questions. But the tell all was absolutely worthless, and nothing but an episode to placate Kotex. None of the questions any of us are wondering were asked at all. It was all soft ball questions to make it easier for Kooty to just slip and slide past accountability. The producers should join some of the FB groups for this show to see how the people really feel. The Tell All was a disappointment to say the least. I hope for the next season, they ask better questions that actually force Kody and Robyn to answer and look at what they've done.
Shadow and Bone (2021)
Poor character building
I'm not sure if it's the authors writing or the screenwriters. But the character development is...poor. And it only gets worse in season 2. So, let me get this straight. We're supposed to believe that Alina, the freaking Sun Summoner, can destroy the fold. But she can't fight the little shadow monsters and volcra, and instead lets her friends get attacked and die? The women in this show are written to be weak and only show strength at climactic moments. Even though it makes no sense. They do absolutely nothing in moments they should have power. It was very disappointing. The story, the way it's filmed, the effects/CGI and acting are all great. And it is a good show. But by the end, there were so many moments that made the female characters appear incredibly weak, when they're not supposed to be.
Kaleidoscope (2023)
Not worth the watch
I...did not like this show. The majority of the characters made the show as a whole, almost impossible to watch. They made it almost unbearable. Every show of course has to have a bad guy. But everything just unrealistic, and pointless.
I stayed hoping for a satisfying ending, nope. It did not happen. So if you're sticking it out thinking once you have all the pieces, it'll be better. Don't. Just stop. Episode orange was where it absolutely tanked and it just never came back.
And the last episode Pink, made it so the whole thing wasn't even worth the shot. I regret watching it. I can't think of anything positive I got out of this show. And the ending broke my heart, and the worst part was that it was without reason, and without explanation. Just a "everything sucks and that's it" kind of ending.
Spoiler***
Literally everyone was awful. Except Stan (we don't even know if Judy left him in the end). And everyone else who was good, Leo and RJ, all dead.
The Rookie: Take Back (2022)
Terrible writing
Who wrote this episode? It almost seems like they brought a literal Rookie writer in. There were so many unexplained holes in this episode, so many things that seemed like they could have led into something with more potential but nope.
The storyline with the Greys and their daughter was the best part. But everything with Nolan and his new rookie, was terrible. Didn't make sense, and was such a let down.
Not sure what the writers were thinking this episode. I know it's not the most realistic series, but it's usually at least believable. This episode just literally had WAY too many holes and empty potential.
The Midnight Club: Midnight (2022)
Disappointing lack of closure
I LOVE all of Flanagan's other works. And I loved the series of Midnight Club. Right up until this last episode.
There is NO closure at all. There are so many questions that were never answered. Ideas introduced that were never followed through... wtf? The whole last episode was incredibly disappointing and anticlimactic. The whole series was great, and felt like a build up to the finale, only to fizzle out.
They did a great job throughout the series introducing really interesting concepts, and possible plots. Lots of twists and turns. Only for them to basically say "none of it matters."
Safe to say this will be their flop of an episode for Flanagan.
Big Sky (2020)
TERRIBLE acting and just as bad writing
The acting is ridiculous. The writing is atrocious. The characters are idiots and follow your stereotypical horror movie dumb-blonde tropes. So predictable too. Couldn't even get past the first episode.
Stowaway (2021)
It felt, unfinished. And unbelievable.
I actually thought it was pretty good until I realized it was over.
There was SO much information left out, unexplained and then such an abrupt ending.
Yeah, her death is sad...but also one of the most confusing I've seen.
I didn't really feel like they made us connect enough with the characters to be too heart broken over her death. I was mostly just confused.
Why?!
Why didn't they just take the extra second to grab the second tank?
Why were her and David actually tethered to the ship at all in any way or each other?
Why was the tank not actually clipped to them but just loosely tied on?
There wasn't enough explanation to her death. Like ok so she went out into the solar storm, and we just assume the radiation was too much? Not even an attempt for her to come inside? It just felt so abrupt.
For the rest of the story, HOW TF was Michael even in there? He was in a compartment literally built into the ship, that had to be unscrewed to get him out? Why was he cut so badly?
They seriously didn't notice he was even missing?
There were no redundancies built in, in case something happened to their oxygen supply?
I'm not a scientist or any kind of engineer. But I just found a lot of it unbelievable, and just unfinished.
There was also no real ending. She just dies, abruptly, and then the credits hit. Like what...the...f....
Into the Badlands: Chapter XVI: Wolf's Breath, Dragon Fire (2017)
Worst episode
Honestly I'm not even sad about Veil because I really disliked her character. But the whole episode and ending fight scene was literally just the dumbest thing. Incredibly sloppy writing, to the point it just made no sense. Like they just wanted Veil to die some tragic way. So they didn't have sunny actually kill Quin, which after as many kills as sunny has had, you'd think he'd know how to properly kill someone. Not to mention Veils wound wouldn't have killed her that fast.
Just...holy cow one of the worst episodes of a show I've ever watched.
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
Against their character
I made an IMDB account specifically just so I could review how terrible this episode, the last episode and honestly this whole season has been.
This whole season but ESPECIALLY the last 2 episodes have been the worst I've seen in Walking Dead history. Just because of the pure stupidity of these episodes.
The characters are making the dumbest decisions that's the completely against their character, and their stories. Things make literally no sense, like a horse just standing there whole Walkers just bite it and take it down? Horses kick and rear at the site of a mouse, are you kidding me with this?
If it weren't for the more promising reviews of next season, I would've stopped watching here.
