St. Elmo's Fire (1985)
~"Electric Flashes of Light" Show~
Once again............. This movie is sheer truth. Even though it was made in 1895, i find most of the plot dramas to still be occurring today. I also must tell you....... I am in love with Andrew McCarthy's character. The characters in this movie are all unique and continuously play off of one another. Each personality is just so "real" and the actors and actresses are all very intense in them.
All I can really say, is that the "flashes of electric light" really shine in this movie!!!!!!!
~~~Awesome movie~~~ I find myself watching it over and over. It really is a movie that can appear to people of all age groups on some level of underlying meaning. I saw it the first time, and re-watched it amazed at all of the small details that I had missed. Thise details add lots more humor to the movie, and are worth the extra time to view.
Down with Love (2003)
Horrible.... All that is needed.
Most of my reviews are positive, but there is just nothing good for me to say about Down With Love. I found it to be way-too involved and to have a very 'cut-off' ending. It had an okay plot line that at least caught my interest, but it seems like the people who wrote or produced the movie either ran out of time, energy, money, or caring and had to create a sudden and cheap ending. In my mind, it wasn't worth seeing. My only sake for not regretting it is that Ewan McGregor is handsome. However, he can not reprehend for this awful movie... I simply didn't enjoy it at all... That is simply all that needs to be said to you... It was bad in my opinion.
The Patriot (2000)
A sad, but Life- Altering Treasure
Once Again, I viewed this movie in School. And I am ashamed of the other comments. I respect everyone's opinions- but am bothered by the harsh criticisms in their reviews. This movie was EXCELLENT. I loved it, and was truly changed by it. I was so involved by the movie that I am still made fun of for crying all through it. I even vowed to name me child 'Gabriel' after Heath's character.( By the way, Heath Ledger is unmistakably HOTT).
My only problem with the movie is that, after my uncle committed suicide, I didn't find the scene in which one of the militiamen commits suicide proper to enclose. It was too hard to watch after witnessing it in real life. However, no respect for the movie was lost, and I felt that I could relate in many ways. America isn't perfect, and wasn't in the past... so portraying it that way in films is fitting. Another great movie!
The Blue and the Gray (1982)
Hard To Swallow, but Easy Once It Goes Down
In the eighth grade, (which was this past year for me), we take a field trip to Gettysburg, and before we do... we have to watch the Blue and Gray. Now, don't get me wrong- at the very beginning--- I was bored out of my mind- but after I got into it--- I loved it! I loved it so much I even stayed in the Histry Room during my free period to watch the end ahead of the class. I am good in history, and this movie was truly exceptional. At times, I thought of closing my eyes, and at other times- I could hardly stay on my seat. This movie made me think of how lucky I am to live in a world of freedom, and without the conditions like they had in those days.
-------However-------
Just a bit of a warning... some parts in this movie are not for the weak at heart... or stomach for that matter. Two scenes in particular I found hard to swallow were The branding scene and the scene where Jonas and Malachai discover Mooney murdered, and staked to a tree...
Although the hard scenes, and length of the movie- I still loved it and would recommend it to anyone!
The Cutting Edge (1992)
Cameo of My Life
I think that "The Cutting Edge" is a totally heart warming story. It makes me laugh because as a student in the gifted program, I don't get along with a fellow student named Adam. My teacher always tells us that we both want to be right, and to watch when we say never, because the same thing happened to her and now they are married. This situation makes me think of The Cutting Edge." I also think that it breaks many male stereotypes, because the 'tough, big- headed, male rough guy' is turned into what some may see as a 'girly skater' and what for? ALl for his love of being on the ice, and for love itself. After seeing this movie, all the guys in my future have some very difficult shoes to fill. To sum it all up, "The Cutting Edge" is a heart- warming tale of love.
Care Bears: Journey to Joke-a-Lot (2004)
" If I stay here I become a King, and If I go back it's the same old thing"- Funshine Bear.
Just to start my comment off... I am a thirteen year old girl. At school, anyone would die of embarrassment to be caught watching Care Bears... except me. I love the Care Bears, and this movie is no exception. I thought it was cute, and touching at the same time. I am reluctant to admit this, but when Funshine sings about going home... and questions about whether or not he is making the right choice, I cried. Actually... crying is sort of an understatement- I bawled.
Even though I know that the Care Bears are not real... and in fact are animated- I still view them as real beings and follow their actions by caring. This movie is cute, funny, sad, and sentimental. I love the Care Bears!
Brian's Song (1971)
The unbracketed Truth
I will not sit here and fill up my ten lines with words that may distract you or that may sound fabricated. However, this movie was simply one that will never be topped by remakes or forgotten. I find this movie to be highly suitable for different age groups... and sure to make any man, woman, or being cry. I laughed at points during the movie, and cried at times also. I never watched such a movie- in the sense that it was a comedy- yet a tragedy. I loved it, and that is simply all my review needs to say. It was a good movie to make me think of my own personal life experiences and friendships. At times after watching this movie... I longed for a friend like Gayle Sayers, and to be respected as Brian Piccollo was. This movie is he best... and excellent. That is all that needs to be said...
Riding the Bus with My Sister (2005)
I found this movie to be totally correct, and excellent!
This movie truly changed my views on life. I was having a very hard time at school and watching this movie made me aware of all of life's small things that I took for granted. I really learned a lot from this movie, and am very glad that I got to witness it. I know that many people said that Rosie O'Donnel spoiled it; but I just don't find that true. She portrayed the character how she was supposed to. This is a true story, and to say that it was 'over the edge' is disrespectful to the real family. It was portrayed how the real family was... and I find that courageous and totally fitting for the content of this book/ movie. I found this movie to be a great life -lesson and learning experience that taught me to be thankful for who I am and every day that I have here on this earth. I think that the movie was excellent.
