Elementary (2012)
....
*spoilers* I quite enjoyed the first season, but with season two my feelings on the show really tanked. I don't feel like the show really evolves in any meaningful direction. The Mycroft-Joan thing kind of fell out of nowhere, and then ended, for which I was grateful...But then it started again. And again. And then FINALLY ENDED. But Sherlock joined MI6.
Anyway, I don't think I'll bother to continue, which is too bad, as I really did enjoy the first season.
Dark Matter (2015)
Very enjoyable!
Given my snap impression of this show was that it was a Firefly knockoff, I'm really glad that I kept watching, as any similarity really is in that they're a bunch of outlaws on a ship and that 5 has some Kaylee/River-esque abilities...and that 3 and Jayne both fulfill the same stereotype.
Anyway, I find this series very watchable, and am currently in the middle of the final season.
Call the Midwife (2012)
Overall, I very much enjoyed this series...
Despite the deviations from Jennifer Worth's memoirs (especially as I read the memoirs afterwards, otherwise I'd likely feel differently as I'm a pain like that)! However, I really do feel it should have ended with Jenny's departure. I've continued to watch so far, but don't think I'll be watching the coming seasons.
Scandal (2012)
Was hoping for more.
I like the concept of this show, but... It just doesn't work, and I really find the Olivia-Fitz relationship SUPER awkward and forced. It feels like he is attracted to her and she just sort of ends up going along with it but is clearly emotionally invested by present day. So after giving it a few episodes worth of try, I'm done.
When Calls the Heart (2014)
Overall, a lovely series!
I have managed to get to the beginning of season 3 in less than a week (thank you, Netflix!)!
A feel good series that is very watchable! I'm not going to say I don't get irritated with both Elizabeth and Jack, because I do...But I feel it is due to the nature of the type of series. We don't exactly drill down into any of the characters, which can sometimes make them feel stylistic. But it is far surpassed by the overall feeling of the series.
My only other real issue with 'When Calls the Heart' is some minor plot discontinuity.
Examples:
In episode 1, 47 men died in the mining disaster. In later episodes, 46 men died.
Abigail's magically expanding apartment. It is initially said that there are 2 rooms above the cafe...and yet, Abigail, Elizabeth, Clara, Cody, and Becky all seem to have separate rooms by season 3, episode 2.
Call me petty, but once I notice these things, it's hard to forget them. Especially when there are easy ways around the issues (i.e. reading earlier episodes to fact check?!).
