Minecraft (2009)
Simple yet effective
When I first saw minecraft gameplay, I thought it looked seriously bad, I didn't get how placing blocks was fun. Then I played it for the first time, I honestly had never been so wrong. There's a lot more to it, creating tools out of materials, finding food to prevent hunger and going on journeys into caves only to get completely lost. There are two modes in minecraft, creative and survival. Creative means you can build anything you want, using which blocks you want. From houses to cities, there is little in the way of what is achievable. But most big projects are very time consuming and the constant filling in will get slightly boring. This is when you play some survival. In survival, you have to obtain everything yourself and mine for the best materials to make weapons and armour to eventually defeat the ender dragon. I myself have never completed the game because again, it is very time consuming and complicated. Overall, minecraft is a very addicting and interesting game that will keep you hooked until the end. You may not like it because of the graphics (getting another texture pack can help) or for other reasons. I give it 9/10 because the gameplay is thorough, but you will get bored from time to time. I hope this was helpful :)
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
Peter Jackson has milked it too much
I was told that The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was terrible. I didn't want to believe it because I very much liked the first one. It wasn't too dark,it mainly followed the book and didn't get boring. However, the Desolation of Smaug was as terrible as I had been informed. I think the main reason for this is that it tried too hard. It was trying to be as big as The Lord of The Rings, but it didn't work because of the setting, there was nowhere for a huge battle to take place. So instead (spoiler alert), they got loads of orcs to chase the escaping dwarfs down the river in a pretty stupid, gravity defying scene. I'm sorry but there is no way that the fat dwarf could have survived that. Another factor is about the name of the film. "The Hobbit'. I forgot Bilbo was in it halfway through, its not really about him. You see most of the dwarfs more than him. My final point is my problem with Bard, he is a discount Aragorn (hence my username). They wanted a hero in it and because Aragorn was popular, they picked up the first guy who looked like him. He is the poundland version of Aragorn, cheap and nasty. So, I rate this film 2/10 because of the main story, It doesn't excite you and could do with being shorter. I had no problem with the acting. But, it isn't not the worst film ever made, I have rated this 2/10 because there is only one film that I consider to be 1/10 because the film (which I will not name) ruined my life. If Peter Jackson wants to continue making good films, he has to stop milking the cow that is Middle Earth.
