The Reef: Stalked (2022)
Not bad for what it was
I went into this movie with zero expectations, given the terrible reviews.
Bring a sucker for shark movies, I decided to give it a go. I must say that I enjoyed it.
The main actress tends to over-act a bit, there were lots of awkward and redundant pauses while being shown, pretty often, that yes, she was traumatized, yes, we get it. We did not need to see over and over the drowning/murder, especially since she didn't even actually witness the crime.
It is good for what it is, certainly most shark movies are cheesy, but hey, they are shark movies and shark movies are fun.
I liked it.
Homewrecker (2019)
Wtf
Wtf did I just watch? The acting was pretty bad. Despite that, crazily enough, it held my interest and I watched it all the way through.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020)
I wanted to love it, but...
I got down to the last 5 minutes and just could not go on. The acting was bad, most of the characters unlikable and over-acting, the world they resided in 10 years after was just too brightly lit and everything looked too well manicured for a bunch of teenagers trying to live in this environment. The clothes looked great, hair and makeup., flawless! The houses well maintained, everything ship shape, no wear and tear on any of the buildings or cosmetic structures.
In the alternate shows, 10 years later they are pretty much living in the wild west. Horse drawn cars, bad gasoline, trouble with the fence lines, etc. I don't expect perfection, and certainly the other two shows have their flaws, but they also have solid characters and stellar acting.
Safe Spaces (2019)
Such a low score, I had zero expectations
Really went into this movie expecting to hate it, due to the low ratings, and have a few times been pleasantly surprised after reading bad reviews only to find that something clicked with me and I enjoyed it despite what others thought, so I decided to check it out.
I don't usually enjoy Justin Long, but he's really grown on me as an actor, Fran Drescher was great and looked amazing, Lynn Cohen, who played the grandmother was delightful, as always, and the character of the sister was top notch.
I enjoyed the relationships between the siblings, I loved their love and support of each other and their grandmother in her final days and I found the whole movie in general. enjoyable, funny, bittersweet and very engaging.
Radioflash (2019)
fairly decent
Very slow moving movie, but I enjoyed it. Good acting. I usually find teenagers in movies slightly obnoxious and self-centered , so it was refreshing to see calm, level headed and respectful youth depicted here, contrary to one review I read about "teenagers running through the woods screaming", I saw none of that.
