Bottoms (2023)
Campy
If you take this movie seriously then you are in for it. The campiness, the female empowerment, the snark and sarcasm are all pretty good. This is a cheesy but great movie to laugh with for anybody who was bullied in school for being weird or smart or nerdy or ugly or basically any form of non-popular misunderstood.
Unlike most cheesy teen high school Rags to Riches story, there's no Prince Charming saving the day, it's literally a gaggle of women saving each other and the day, there's no over-the-top romance, there's no masquerade unveiling. It's your atypical modern romantic comedy set in high school that is made purely to make you laugh and realize that women are amazing at comedy no matter what the little boys say. And if something like this pisses off the weak men, then I think that it's made its point that not only do girls truly rule, but nerdy ones at that.

Pretty Exciting All Tge Way Through
It was more than i had expected- more twists and turns per character that all came together. Every two minutes you think you've figured it out and you DIDN'T. The ensemble really worked together- their quirks and mannerisms together made it more kitchy and clever, nobody felt out of place. The editing made it really sing. The imperfections of natural lighting made it more lifelike, and that's refreshing to see. It made it seem more natural because you're seeing people outside, watching them as they speak as if you were right in front of them. That added to the small town impact of it all because it pulls the viewer in more than being annoying or fake looking. You felt like you lived there.
