The Morning Show: The Interview (2019)
What an ending to season 1!!!!!
This episode was so freaking good!!! I loved the way that the story wove together, and the music, directing, cinematography, acting, everything worked SO WELL together!! I did not want it to end. I am so excited that there is another season. This is such a timely show, too!
The Morning Show (2019)
Excellent Writing, Acting, Directing, Production
This show is SO well-written! I find it refreshing to see deep, very complicated characters who reveal the many subtle nuances of their psyches. They also show the numerous subtle nuances of how people arrive at decisions - taking into account their ambitions, their self-esteems, their duties/loyalties to people and to entities (large corporations), and so on. The acting is excellent: usually there are one or two actors that aren't that great, but every single one of these actors have fully committed to their characters, and they portray them convincingly. I enjoy how they are weaving in current events and topics, and therefore providing social commentary. I am really pleased that this show already got picked up for a second season. Bravo to everyone involved in this show!!!
Peppermint (2018)
Garner is a Badass
Jennifer Garner is such an all around badass. I was captivated from her first scene. Her performance was so intense throughout the movie. No matter what emotions any given scene required, she delivered tenfold. She convinced me that she was capable of all that she, let's say, 'accomplished' in her overarching mission. I rooted for her no matter what she did to others. The ending was perfect, too. 10/10!!!!
Ballet Now (2018)
Tiler Peck's Breadth of Talent is Awe-Inspiring!
I was exhausted just in trying to keep up with Tiler Peck's numerous responsibilities in making this Ballet Now production happen! She is SO talented, and in so many areas! She brought together dancers (hand picked by her, of course!) and not only inspired them, but was open to mutual inspiration and collaboration. All of the routines were danced phenomenally, which is extra impressive given the extremely short amount of time the dancers had to work together (and to work out the staging, lighting, music, etc.). The 123456 number was absolutely fantastic, and actually I enjoyed even more the scenes of those particular dancers working out the routine in the studios. If I could request any change to this documentary it would just be that we get to see the full final performances of all the dances. It seemed as if the documentary was preparing the viewer for such a treat, but then we just got a montage of clips from each number. Oh yes, and one thing really surprised me: Tiler Peck drinks a lot of Coca Cola!! Prima Ballerinas: They are just like us! :)
A Feeling of Home (2019)
Flat, Zero Chemistry, Bad Acting, Cobbled Storyline
I love Hallmark movies. I look forward to the new ones that are now released every Saturday. I am giddy when we start the Christmas season because I know I will have thirty Hallmark movies to comfort me through the season. I love the modern day fairy tales that they spin and I am usually able to get caught up in the pictures they paint. Every once in a while there is a complete flop, and A Feeling of Home is one of those. The acting was flat and stale. The story was boring and cobbled together. There was zero chemistry between the love interests and between the female lead and her Dad. The female "manager" was super annoying and had zero depth. The attempts at Texas accents were atrocious (I am a native Texan who grew up in Texas). The attempts to reflect the Texas culture were embarrassing. I read that the producer (who also plays the Dad) is from Dallas, Texas, but rather than influencing the cast and crew to accurately reflect the diversity of Texas culture (I mean, it is a big state!), he defaulted to the stereotypical version of Texas (and his accent was obviously put on and he did NOT look like what a Texas rancher would look like!). I had to force myself to sit through the whole movie - it was that bad. I didn't care about the characters. There were parts of the storyline that could have been developed to make it more interesting, although they would have to replace the actors with ones who can actually act. Maybe Hallmark should pull back a little when it comes to how quickly they are churning out movies, because I think they are starting to sacrifice quality.
Deep Blue Sea 2 (2018)
Why can't I give this 0 stars?
The acting was atrocious all around. I wanted all of the characters to die. The plot had so many holes, the script was likely written by a middle school student, and the set was obviously low budget. I made the mistake of watching it before looking at the IMDB rating. After the torturous hour and a half, I looked on IMDB, saw the 3.2 rating (which is generous), and then saw that the channel "SyFy" had purchased the movie. Oh my, that's worse than straight to DVD. If you are looking for a good shark movie, don't waste your time with this one. The sharks don't really get enough screen time.
