Forty Eight Hours: The Mortician, the Murder, the Movie (2016)
Interesting episode of an emotionally complex case
I hadn't heard of this case and had completely missed the Jack Black film (not a Jack Black fan) so this came as a surprise.
I found it amazing that he wasn't in prison when I was watching it, so I googled it and found out that he is actually in prison and got a sentence of 99 years to life and will be up for parole when he hits 71. The episode shows that he is not in prison and I couldn't believe it, it seemed like an obvious case of being guilty.
The family are totally butt hurt that he got the money but it seemed like they didn't have a lot to do with her. Bernie was obviously gay and no way they didn't realise it.
The episode could have done with an update following the re-sentencing.
Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made (2018)
Quasi Found Footage?
I was trying to work out what this genre of horror movies would be called and settled on quasi-found-footage.
Nicole Tompkins is what lifts this from just a low budget experimental horror film. She is a delight to watch and deserves more roles in films.
The weird statue thing above the fire is fairly creepy and it's use as a means of execution is well done.
Those bad Bulgarian guys seem pretty stereotypical of a Bulgarian gypsy. It's weird that one walks around in his Y fronts.
Anyway I would recommend it. Worth watching on a dark evening and the pseudo science when they talk about sound frequency is convincing too.
Your Worst Nightmare (2014)
The worst acting in True Crime reenactment
The cases they choose are good and they seem to have picked some very horrible murders. The acting though is terrible. Very campy acting, that almost feels like it's intentional. It's part of the appeal I think.
Because it's true crime you know something awful is going to happen and it builds up like a low budget made for TV movie. It's a shame that the first season isn't available in Discovery UK.
I have given it six stars as the production isn't bad and the stories are good.
Season 2 Episode 3 has a guy with the craziest wig. Does anyone know whether a new season will be coming out at all? Let's hope so.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
So cringy I had to hide behind a cushion
We are on episode two and I am struggling to watch the third when it's out. I really wanted to enjoy this show as She Hulk is a favourite character of mine but this show has harmed that. I am worried that this has harmed the She Hulk legacy.
Dark Beacon (2017)
Boring and slow
Not much to write here only that it is slow and boring. I only finished it because I don't like quitting. I fell for the "judging a book by it's cover" trope and now I feel duped like watching an Asylum movie. Will definitely avoid anything directed by this Coz guy in the future.
Evil on Queen Street: Bloodlust (2019)
No Budget and Poor Acting
How has this got such a high rating?! The acting is terrible, the script is terrible and the production is terrible.
This has home movie aesthetics with very little to praise.
Savaged (2013)
TV movie with violence and gore.
This is a terrible movie. Hammy acting and poor dialogue. People acting as stereotypes and not realistically (yeah I know that it's a fantastical storyline and people don't get possessed by ancient spirits).
I am certain these are fake reviews as the director will get paid through Amazon with there being an IMDB link to it on here.
Charlie Charlie (2019)
Why is the production good but the film is very poor quality?
This film is worth watching to understand how bad a film can be. Someone should note down who the actors, director and script write is so that they never work in film or television again.
Is this how young people are in real life? It makes tiktok look intellectual.
Velvet (2021)
Weird, erotic and interesting
Hey I don't write many reviews but I could see this has none so why not?
For some reason Amazon Prime recommended Velvet to me. Anyway, I am not going to rewrite the plot here but it is essentially about a nude woman thinking and hanging out in the coutryside. It's short and sweet. I think it was the colours of the film that I liked the most.
The Demon's Waltz (2021)
Should have been a short film
The Demon's Waltz is way too long. At nearly two hours, I had to hit fast forward through some of the boring scenes.
I like bad movies and often seek them out but this one is just mediocre. It needs to be edited and shortened as the film isn't interesting enough to warrent such a long runtime.
Feelin' Screwy (1990)
Reminds me of 80s teen movies
Where do I start. Found an old VHS copy of Feelin' Screwy and as a fan of rubbish films I thought this would be right up my rally. The stars of the film are quite likeable but are definitely from the distant past and you don't see kids like this anymore. Very weird scenes with white women being seen as pure sex objects and trophys for conquest which does strike me as being a little racist
Beatus (2018)
Too long with a thinly spread story
There is a story in this film, its just that it is told over too long a period of time. This film could either be made shorter or had a better script. It's filmed in Latvia but could be filmed anywhere as all you see are some wooden buildings and the inside of a church. I wouldn't recommend it as there are far better horror films on Netflix.
