Alpha Protocol (2010)
Great game to play over and over
Alpha Protocol is a game that I have already played through about 7 times, and each time you can take a different route through the decisions.
You play as agent Mike Thorton. At first you are recruited by Alpha Protocol to track stolen missiles in Saudi Arabia, but then you are left by the US Govt to fend for yourself.
With the help of your agency contact, you circle the globe fighting different terrorists in an RPG style.
You can choose which missions to do in which order, and the way you speak to people has a big influence on how they treat you later.
Archer (2009)
Archer proves you can be completely disgusting and still be hilarious
Archer is quite possibly my new favorite show. This comes from the creator of Frisky Dingo, the show that took a similar comedic aim at superheroes. Archer has some of the best character flaws on television. Sterling Archer is the womanizing main character who despite his aloofness and major flaws is one of ISIS best agents. Lana Kane plays his mocha ex lover who loves inter-racial porn and turtleneck skirts. Carol or cheryl or crystal, whatever her name is this week, is the sex crazed secretary who like to be choked in bed. Cyril is the comptroller who is somehow sleeping with Lana while trying to impress her more than Archer. Malory is Archer's mother/leader of ISIS. Her dog duchess spawned archer's codename and her torid love affairs with other spies all over the world get in the way of ISIS being the number 1 spy organization. And Pam is the chubby outspoken HR rep who is always looking for some way to appreciated while also insulting Carol for being Carol. The characters in the show mix so well together that each episode has the ability to be rewatched numerous times. Watch Archer on FX and see for yourself
Army of Two: The 40th Day (2010)
Army of two lets friends play as mercs in wartorn Shanghai
This game, upon first glance, looks like nothing special. Another 3rd person shooter with team capabilities.
But once you start utilizing the games unique features, you get addicted.
The game lets you customize every one of its guns in about 8 different ways including silencers, different barrels, stocks, clips, scopes, paint and much more.
The enemies are basic AI enemies but having the heavy gattling gun toting enemies makes it harder.
The campaign mode is beatable in a day but still offers many fun options. you can kill hostages or save them for money and gun parts.
You also get to make moral choices like whether to rob an old security gueard of his guns or kill the last white tiger in the world.
The battle mode is limited to five levels so it can get repetitive, but the game control itself makes for fun times.
This is a game worth buying used if you just want to online battle, it is worth buying new if you like playing the storymode.
The Weather Man (2005)
best overlooked movie of the year
i don't know about the rest of you Nicolas cage fans but i thought this movie was his best in years. the fact that nothing was awarded to this movie isn't as surprising as the lack of nominations by every major awards ceremony. i guess a man struggling to keep a relationship between 2 kids, his ex and his father isn't as interesting as two gay cowboys. this movie is not only beautifully acted but well written. the cast alone is enough reason to go see it, nick cage hope Davis and Michael Caine, how could it get any better than that.
the movie is not only the most robbed movie of all time by awards ceremonies but it is the most UN-nominated film which could have gotten best picture had enough people understood it. now maybe there is a few gross similes used in this movie but it was only to keep the younger audience away.
I Heart Huckabees (2004)
Oscar is too political for this movie
this movie touches base on some harsh subjects that made it a little to controversial for any real awards. the movie "i heart huckabees" is the most original movie i have ever seen. it contains elements of comedy and drama. its too bad that most people didn't understand the movie or it would have gotten better reviews Jason schwartzman plays Albert markovski, a nature activist who is searching for answers about a coincidence with an African man while trying to save his coalition from being taken over by corporate prick brad stand Jude law plays brad stand, a young executive for the huckabees corporation. brad uses Albert's coalition to get pr for huckabees. brads attempt to alienate Albert not only gets him into trouble with his girlfriend, miss huckabees, but it also puts brad on the path to discovering the secrets of the universe with Albert Naomi watts plays dawn, or misshuckabees, a spokes model who is confused about her future and her place at huckabees. she soon starts up with the existential detectives and realizes there is more to life than being pretty. she realizes this after meeting mark wahlberg mark wahlberg plays tommy corn, a confused firefighter who is obsessed with the petroleum problem in the middle east. he becomes Albert's other, kind of like a buddy system, and together they explore the theories of existential ism while also exploring the theories of an opposing doctor, Isabella Hubert Isabella Hubert plays Katerine voubon, a doctor who believes the exact opposite of the detectives and tries to get tommy and Albert to come over to her side and finally Dustin Hoffman and lily Tomlin play married existential detectives Bernard and Vivian jaffe. they believe that everything in the universe is connected from your best friend to your worst enemy and all the matter in between. their mission is to show tommy, Albert, brad and dawn that there is more to life than meets the eye. they use a method to explain this that nearly drives Albert to insanity when all he can see is hating faces that he must chop up with a machete.
overall the movie is the smartest most original comedy i have ever seen and the fact that Oscars didn't nominate it for a single award shows you the kind of politics involved when dealing in Hollywood. for those of you who enjoy THINKING then watch this movie because it will make you laugh, think and question your own beliefs on the universe
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)
what were the critics thinking
this is one of the best comedy movies i have seen in years and it was somehow thought of as bad by most critics. well i have a message to the so called "prodesional critics" you have no taste in what is good and what is bad and if you think this movie is bad, then you should seriously consider another line of work, because obviously you aren't cut out to be a critic how can a movie with bill Murray, Angelica Houston, Jeff Goldbloom, and Owen Wilson be bad, especially when it is written and directed by Wes Anderson. the special effects were probably the most ill favored by critics, but what they failed to realize is that they intenionally looked over the top to create a more surreal experience
