I watched this as Oscar's had been handed out and I felt it necessary, as is customary - to grant such films my valuable time.

I hate musicals.

It started as we know in a traffic jam. They started singing. "I hate musicals" I told my wife. "Is this a bloody musical" I asked.

She didn't know.

What followed was without doubt one of the greatest cinematic experiences I've ever had. I smiled, I rejoiced, I wept, I rallied, I wept again.

I'll keep this brief. No matter your movie preference, no matter your music type, if you are breathing and cognisant - I urge you to watch this.

It is beauty beyond my words.

It is life in a fleeting moment.

It is music and dance we didn't know we needed.

It is lifting, it is crushing.

This movie went from "I hate musicals" to "this is the greatest movie I've ever seen" in the course of two hours.

I've listened to the soundtrack countless times.

I hate musicals.

It's beautiful.

I have no articulate means to encourage you to watch this other than this - if this 48 year old wisened Irishman can fall for this, so can you.

So please, watch this - otherwise you may miss a life changing event.

What is going on? Is this a b movie? Did I miss the irony?

Abysmal acting by good actors, odd direction or editing by a good director, super thin plot, gaffes everywhere.

This is an evening I regret wasting.

Folks there are an awful lot of review on here from Lovecraft "lovies". I question how many genuinely are.

This movie is poor. It's jarring and it's pacing is terrible.

If you want to look clever give it a nine.

If you want to avoid wasted almost two hours of your life then avoid.

Points given for visual effects and Mr Cage going nuts.

This is bad. Acting is fine. Story is all over the place and the movie is just boring.

Not scary, not engaging, not interesting.

Just bad.

Beautiful scenery (in first third), otherwise terrible. Story is all over the place. Characters are bad. Acting isn't terrible but it hams up as the movie progresses.

I love hiking and mountains. I'd rather do so barefoot and naked than watch this again.

I'm sorry but this is dross. There are a total of 10 minutes interest. Please avoid.

As a lucky cancer survivor I found the sentiment beautiful. In fact articulate. This film hit so many nerves. It reawakened the feelings that I ah during treatment and made me realise that I have since taken my life for granted.

Obviously I will not be able to act in the same manner as the lead but Christ I wish I could.

Judge it. Criticise it. Hate it. But know this, this movie conveys a feeling and a mindset that is very real. Sadly many will feel this at a later date. For those of us who have been there and walk on, watch, cry, laugh, enjoy and let your heart warm.

This is pure dross. Pish. Cheesy pish. Shocking script, terrible acting. Avoid.
