Religions of the World (1998)
A lot of information, but really boring
My class had to watch this (the one about the Protestantism) during a religion class. It may be a good movie if you're really, really interested in Protestantism, but it's a bit to much for us petty little souls in elementary school.
Kingsley talked about Protestantism, a part of it called the Evangilicarian-Litterarian-Lutherarian-Gurghlrmnarian-thing, then a branch of that one called the Revolutionarian-Revoltarian- Protestantarian which in turn had another subsection of it called the Theolutherarian-Biblarian-gurghlarsch. I have no idea. A bit to in-depth for us.
Anyway, one person in my class fell asleep, and I studied my shoes. They were nice, and still are, I suppose. We may have been the wrong audience for this movie. It was really informative, far to in-depth for us and really boring. We didn't manage to stay through the whole episode-thing (which I throughout this review have called movie, sorry about that), but I reviewed it anyway. I don't think there is anything that redeems it in the last 10 minutes.
Left Behind (2014)
Atrocious Christian propaganda feat. Nicolas Cage
WARNING: Conatins heavy spoilers about the plot and basically everything. But you're not gonna watch this anyway, are you? (Please don't)
I got this movie expecting it too be some cheesy B-film with bad production values, about the end of humanity. What I got was much worse.
So the movie begins with some people talking about an earthquake or something. Then Cage's wife suddenly starts to discuss the bible without reason. And that's a big problem in this piece of sh*t called "movie". The writing would be bearable if it wasn't for the unmotivated lines about Jesus, God and other religious nonsense that they try to force upon the viewers.
I think that there's like 15 deeply religious scenes, where they either zoom in on a bible (without reason), a random Christian symbol or where the characters suddenly starts to discuss God (also that without reason, except for in like one scene).
The acting is decent for a B-movie, but Cage (who plays a pilot by the way) doesn't get a mental breakdown, so what's the point of having him? The effects are also decent (for a B-movie).
So, the "disaster" happens when people suddenly disappears and leaves all their clothes in pile, except their underwear, which they apparently gets to keep. Most the people that are "left behind" gets really panicked and starts too scream things like "Where's ma BABIESSS!?!!?". (Yes, one woman on the plane seriously did that)
A couple people are like "I understand", but don't care to explain what they understand, until they've waited like 6 hours. At the end they explain that the people that disappeared went to heaven, and that dark times are coming and some bullsh*t like that.
So after watching this movie, there's a couple weird things that I'd like to get answered:
1. How the *!#% did a woman bring a pistol aboard the plane!? 2. How the *!#% did another woman bring drugs aboard the plane!? 3. Where's the second class passengers on the plane? The movie just focuses on the 1st class, and the air hostess does never go outside the cockpit and the 1st class section. A bit discriminating, maybe? 4. Why the *!#% did Cage decide to land on the runway that was under construction with like a thousand obstacles? I think that the JFK- airport has lots of runways that are much better alternatives. 5. Why didn't Cage get contact with the ATM!? He tried contacting them like 20 times during a period of 6 hours or something, so a) How could everyone in the ATM disappear when like 30 % of the total amount of people in the movie did. It's not very likely that everyone would get "accepted by God" or whatever, and b) Why didn't anyone send some random guy to take contact with the air traffic? It just doesn't make any sense. 6. Did they expect that anyone would feel like becoming a Christian after watching this? I temporarily disliked Christianity even more when watching this. 7. How much money did Nicolas Cage get to be an actor in this sh*t? 8. Why did this movie focus on like the least interesting stuff? Wouldn't it be more interesting if it focused on the government or something, instead of a plane? Seriously!
