The King's Man (2021)
Awful
An arduous, confused, mess with a self-indulgent runtime. The few nods to the "style" of the first movie are out of place juxtaposed against the meandering and plodding story line.
The Rookie: In the Line of Fire (2021)
Lazy Story Idea
I like the show and it's been great even though I hate the loss of Titus Makin Jr.
However; this blackmail story line is really lazy writing. Really? The one guy on the show with a black and white moral compass ends up under the thumb of a mobster? Did someone break into their high school writing journal for this plotline?
Man Like Mobeen (2017)
Exceptional
This show is everything you could want out of a new title. It's smart, funny, original, and endearing; well worth the watch.
Don't Forget the Driver (2019)
Literally Zero likable character
Whether choosing the cowardly protagonist, the generic fat, loud mouth, or self-involved teen; there is absolutely no one to root for in this slog fest.
McDonald & Dodds (2020)
Good to see old favs, but too many generic characters
The good -
Long playtime, coming in at an hour and a half
Excellent guests - Charlotte Ritchie,Caroline Catz, Hugh Dennis, Robert Lindsay...
Interesting mystery's
The Bad -
** Some of the characters are RIDICULOUSLY generic. James Murray's Superintendent doesn't need to exist. He shows up in his BMW to a crime scene, shakes his hair like a model in a beer commercial and tries to keep the police from doing their job ... He never apologizes ... Someone wrote that character in 1982 and this show is still using him.
** Tala Gouveia's holds her own, but her character really shouldn't exist today either. If you're brash and young fine, but they've had her attack her co-lead in both episodes and nothing has ever come of it. Just imagine being at work and seeing a supervisor screaming at a subordinate and saying "No, wonder your wife left you!" and nothing happens ... just a stupid and a cheap way to build drama with no follow through. You want to make that scene real? Send her to 6 weeks diversity training after that little BS stunt.
