How is the sound so bad?!
30 January 2024
Terrible ADR through out, and the volume changes at the start of each scene. The dialogue level is 2 out of 10 and then the music and gunshot go to 118 out of ten. Hard to watch for this reason, but as for the script that is an absolute dumpster fire. Generally when you make a movie the running joke is we will fix it in post, for this movie they said "well, Nina is hot so we should get away with it." And she is, that's why u gave it 2 and not 1 out of ten. Aaron "whatshisname" watches Nobody and John Wick and thought he could do the same, but this is just garbage. Absolute garbage, but Nina is hot so.....

Fosse and Vernon meets Ego
23 December 2023
Bradley Cooper, the ego has landed!

I have never seen a film that is this desperate to win an Oscar. The entire production revolved around Cooper trying to convince us he's a genius with his fake nose trying to look more Jewish. He doesn't care how boring this film is, he thinks it's what the academy wants. Maybe he's right but this is Fosse and Vernon without the chemistry. This is a pathetic attempt and should be Coopers final attempt at directing. He needs to stick to being a clown in the circus, and give up on this male prostitute begging for affirmation shtick. I look forward to seeing the Hangover 4.

Finally, Something Funny With No Woke BS
29 June 2023
This feels like a comedy from 15 years ago that you would say "it would never get made today" except is from 2023. It's not on the comedic level of Wedding Crashers or Tropic Thunder, but it was still great. I laughed out loud at a movie theater for the first time in about five years. This little Long Island comedy could potentially save Hollywood. Screw all this woke nonsense and keep cranking out comedies like this without worrying about getting cancelled.

Jennifer Lawrence is amazing. The entire cast is great and there's a bunch of classic moments. The finger trap scene at the end was priceless.

A Slow, Boring American Fleabag
9 May 2023
The trailer did just enough to make this seem interesting. On top of being borderline bipolar myself, theTribeca laurel and Steve Buscemi sold it. Sadly this (The Family Stone Sans Christmas) missed the mark. The problem with these biopics is the writer often thinks no one else could possibly play the lead and they destroy the thing they worked so hard to build. A great lesson to young film makers out there, don't cast yourself if you're also going to direct it. The directing was also flawed, same old boring choices and settling for shocking blocking rather than getting actually creative with shots.

The dialogue however wasn't bad at all and at times there were a few laughs. I hope the writer will learn to hand off their next project to an actual director on the next outing.

If Tommy Wiseau Made a Horror Movie
13 April 2023
This is one of them "it's so atrocious it's actually hilarious" films. By god, the writer is badly addicted to porn. Or maybe he watches a lot while writing, that's the problem when having to write on laptops with wifi nowadays.

This was also like misogynistic Vince McMahon wrote a movie. Vince made a female wrestler bark like a dog in the ring once. Our writer here made the girl crawl like a dog and pick her underwear up with her teeth. Actually he made two different actresses do that, and probably for scale plus ten. This isn't just embarrassing for the character but the poor girls working on an indie set.

Terrifying, and Fantastic Filmmaking
7 December 2022
I generally write negative reviews for films because I hate most things I see, but this was a treat. I'm a film maker myself, I loved this.

It was the night before my very casual wedding, not my first wedding, probably not my last wedding either if I'm being honest. I needed a distraction and decided to log into my Amazon prime account on the Ritz Hotel modest sized TV. The room had a water front view and it's sad that I needed a tv to be honest. But that's where I was, casually on the verge of a mental break down. For whatever reason, I put on this movie, with zero expectations other than I read somewhere it was good. I think I heard something about oscar buzz, but I doubt it.

The opening scene was so dark, and I related to it. The dead mother and the child all sad and crying. Then the scene happened in the hospital with the girl smiling. I got the shivers. I never cover my eyes watching a movie, but I did, maybe I cried but I could for sure feel my spine tingling.

I love the ending. It was the best way to end it, with absolutely zero resolution, just pain and misery. I got married the following morning.

Was this supposed to be satire?!
25 October 2022
Our serial killer is 140lbs soaking wet, but only kills grown men with his bare hands and never has a scratch on him. Could the prop team not fight him a weapon? No MMA background, just the same little choke move on everyone. Also where the hell are the cops and security cameras in this town?

Am I nitpicking? Maybe I am, but we wanted Ted Bundy and got the 40 year old virgin (pardon the Carrell pun)

Anyway the show is fine, it's not inventing or reinventing the wheel, but it passed a few evenings when it was raining outside in October.

Gleeson and Carrell had some great scenes, but as a whole, the show is flat.

Not for the Claustrophobics
8 August 2022
It's an intense ride. Movie making at its finest, and a beautifully told story. My girlfriend cried through most of it. If you have lost all hope in humanity then this one's for you.

And you thought Thor 2 was bad?!

Entire cast phoned it in, but the script was also trash. Endgame really was the end of marvel movies. Thanks a lot Thanos.

Amazing Performance, Poor Script
27 June 2022
Austin Butler deserved better. It could have been a masterpiece but it's let down by a dumpster fire of a script.

Music is amazing too, it feels more like a Broadway show than a movie.

A Weak Effort
8 March 2022
Obviously it was super low budget, but every cent spent was wasted on this terrible script. It's a story that has been told a million times, maybe not in Croatia but Italy and Hollywood for sure.

It's unoriginal story is just the start of its problems. The acting was poor, although the terrible dialogue didn't make it easy for them. The DP must have been rushed every day. I could go on but I won't.

At the end of the day you don't need talent to make a movie, just a little money.

Fun!

Yes, yes it's ironic they did it without their permission, but considering how great the show is, it's hard not to forgive them. Dialogue and acting are both fantastic.

Take Off On Episode 3.
28 January 2022
Every Netflix series from House of Cards, to Ozark and Peaky Blinders takes a few episodes to get moving. This show is no exception, but it's worth the wait!

Cillian O'Sullivan shines as CIA agent Chauncey, and has excellent banter with his partner in crime Charles Brice, who serves well as the comedic relief. Margarita Levieva metaphorically and literally kicks ass as the leading lady and carries the show with ease.

After binging season one, I can't wait for season two to drop.

Everyone in America Should Watch
30 December 2021
Horrific. Disgusting. I hate humans. Some thoughts I had while and after watching it. It's a gritty slow burner that I wish everyone would watch to show how evil big pharma is.

Sadly Accurate
28 December 2021
A masterpiece that will be sadly hated by 30% of the country. Amazing how the writer asked himself "what would happen if a comet was coming to kill us all?" And turned that question into a film. The first great movie on climate change.

Borefest

Stylistic and all, but overall it's pointless and almost harmless. Maybe there would have been more excitement over on the Falls. The acting and cinematography is strong though.

All the neon lights in Texas couldn't save this poorly written and over directed bore. Only watched it because Tarantino praised it, but realized quickly that he must be friends with someone involved.

Frustrating Story, Great Documentary
6 July 2021
The best documentaries are the ones that let the audience decide what happened. In this case it seems as though Ian Bailey is as guilty as sin. It's a matter of time before he goes to prison.

Come On Guy
21 May 2021
Great cinematography, and at times it is entertaining, but the characters are just so poorly written and not developed at all. It's like someone watched a bunch of old Guy Ritchie movies and made their first film, but doesn't understand story telling.

Underrated Gem
10 April 2021
I loved it. It's not a great movie but there's so much to love here. Keanu and the girls are fire! Perfect example of brilliant actors carrying a terrible script.

Surprisingly Great!!
3 April 2021
I went to see this at its world premiere at the Garden State Film Festival in NJ and was blown away by this movie. It's basically a two hander for most of the film and the actors great work really kept it intriguing throughout. It has a Blair Witch Project meets Plane Trains and Automobiles type tone, but super unique in its own right. Go see this film whenever you get a chance!

The Book Is Always Better....
3 March 2021
Yes the book is always better but in this case the book is great and the film is an absolute dumpster fire. The script is awful and the screenwriter would want to study the craft. Also perhaps Chloe Grace isn't the sensational we all hoped she would be? Or maybe she is just picking terrible scripts and phoning it in.

Identity Crisis
2 March 2021
Is it or isn't it? It isn't. It just isn't part of the MCU universe, it might as well be an X-Men movie, it's a different character, not the Hulk in the Avengers. It's not even on Disney +. What are we left with? A mediocre film that has a unique tone. Did anyone even remember Liv Tyler was in this?

Strong acting but weak character development. The writer was a few drafts away from a decent script and lacked the patience to execute it.
