A very entertaining and interesting psychological horror with comedic elements.

I will definitely be keeping an eye on Aisha Dee. She was very good in this film. The entire cast was quite good, but she easily stole the show with the best role and overall performance.

Her character had elements of Angela from the Sleepaway Camp series. Particularly parts 2 and 3, but in a vastly superior, yet equally enjoyable film.

Watch it on Shudder. I believe it's currently only available there.

Highly recommended for fans of horror with a psychologically unbalanced, yet still a very likable and empathetic psychopath.

Do you like mid-level shark movies?
5 February 2022
It wasn't that bad. Excellent shark scenes, especially in close up they were surprisingly realistic. The characters are pretty mundane and lacking in unique personality traits, but that's horror movie par for the course for some reason.

As someone else mentioned, the third act was pretty exciting and saved the movie. These people have huge lungs! They can stay under the water a very long time without breathing. They can also talk and yell while holding their breath. Now that's impressive.

Well worth a watch if you've worn out the good shark movies.

Don't Let Her In (I) (2021)

Ted Nicolaou has some unique magic in him.

This show has just been released on the Full Moon streaming site. I recently re-subscribed. They were advertising this in the headline and when I saw the director's name, I figured I'd give it a chance. (He's responsible for some of the best Full Moon Productions).

There's something very entertaining about this. It's not deep, it's not so original, but it is very entertaining. That's all it really needs to be. I recommend it for fans of Full Moon and of horror series' in general.

The characters and the setting are near perfect and fun to watch.

Halloween Night (II) (2020)

Halloween Night it is!

It is good. It's refreshing to take away all the contrivances of the series and just have a good Michael Myers slasher movie. Some of the character tie ins weren't necessary but add to the mythology in their own way.

With more of a budget and the blessing of dimension films or whoever has it now, they could make some good sequels for sure.

I'd rather see some one-off Michael Myers movies like this, that can take place at any point in time after 1978.

In my opinion Dr Loomis vs Michael was always the focus, not Laurie Strode.

I'd rather see Michael Myers versus Michael Ironside over Halloween 2018.

Just watch Hatchet instead.

A couple of out of shape Victor Crowley's and a camp full of stereotypical teens who almost have personalities.

This review is just to warn. It was okay, but I am sick the death of okay movies. Don't waste your time with this cliche ridden mediocrity. There are much better films to watch.

Too bad. It had such a good premise of a camp where people go to detox from online obsessions and social media. Unfortunately, this is only used to push the trope of no cell phone.

I was looking forward to this one when I read the synopsis.

On the Plus side - It has a good soundtrack and beautiful scenery.

Cliche Ridden Empty Void

This movie was almost nothing, unless you've never seen a suspense thriller of any type. It's like a cheap made for cable movie starring an actor working on a court order for some unspeakable crime. Bruce Willis seems medicated with something that slurs speech. The main actress is fine but has next to nothing to work with. Nothing original and no real character development. It's unfortunate as all the talent was on the set, but the script was doomed to fail and it's played as though they all knew it.

Pledge (2018)
6/10
Is It Good? Umm
18 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers Ahoy...

I would never go through this pledge ritual myself so it's a little tough to empathize with these extremely desperate fellas. They should have been a tad more suspicious when 3 random guys walking down a street would be approached as equals for this exclusive club. (Especially by a kind, beautiful woman.)

I feel like I've seen this vibe in movies a few times before. It brought to mind Voodoo with Corey Feldman (1995) and many other Pledge and Skull and Bone type films.

I lost believability during the elbows, knees, belt whipping scene. I thought the five guys should turn on the three and beat the hell out of them. (This was before i knew one of the 5 guys was also a genuine pledge.) l liked the big guy and the nerdy guy with the infected burn however. In the scene where they thought they were leaving, I thought it was played well as they were still between believing the pledge ritual and wondering if they were giving in to paranoia, or if the threat was dead real. The balance was extreme, but still somewhat in the realm of possibility. I cannot believe they didn't rebel during the rat scene though. It was all made real in that moment and I thought they would ACT.

I like the ending but it seemed a little vague. I thought they might put a pin on the big guy and we'd see his dilemma of acceptance or rejection. In a room full of the club members, I doubt he would turn it down, but in the long run would he accept his place among them? Part of me thinks he would have.

I can't say that I really liked this movie, but I certainly appreciated parts of it. It didn't strike me as particularly low budget either, which is a good thing.

The first half had some sympathetic characters. By the second act, there was little to root for or relate to as they were still into the tormenting haze. The third act brought it back again.

Worth watching. It's streaming free on YouTube. I enjoyed the ride but doubt I'll watch it again.

I say it's a 6 and a stream.

Surprisingly Good!
16 August 2019
This is one of those rare slasher films where you actually want nearly everyone to survive. I found myself halfway through this film thinking, I wish this was a comedy or a drama so I wouldn't have to watch these people die. The slasher elements are actually the weakest part of the story in my opinion.

The lead final girl was a bizarre choice for the role. Something about those eyes. Very good actress though. The supporting cast is excellent. I thought I might finally see Tom Hanks get killed. Alas it wasn't to be.

If you've watched Halloween 700 times and have worn out The Burning, My Bloody Valentine and The Prowler, give this Suckerbugger a chance. You Shant regret it. Shant.

Elvis Lives! (2016 TV Movie)

Elvis, Pelvis, Pudding and Pie!
28 July 2019
I liked it. It's bright, fun and interesting. It may be the cocktail of prescription drugs talking here, but I had a lot of fun watching.

The problem with making movies about Elvis is that nobody looks like Elvis. Nobody. Maybe if Johnny Depp would've considered it a decade ago. Anyway...

It's a fun what-if scenario. I'd recommend it to fans of Elvis who didn't care much for the rhinestone jumpsuit, bloated, gospel, drugged era and would like to see an interesting fantasy about what could have been in the last few years of his life.

It's a light movie in a way, but it doesn't avoid the darker subjects. The low rating people must have expected an honest biopic. Impossible.

Take care of business then watch this movie.

Round Trip to Stormtrooper Terminator Gremlins
22 January 2019
A very ambitious low-budget action, sci-fi, drama. Some of the other views are correct about this being bad, but it also happens to be very entertaining and interesting. Nearly everyone is miscast perfectly! Zach Galligan reunites with Gremlins/Round Trip to Heaven Co-Star Corey Feldman, although they never appear on screen together. I thought this movie would be bad bad, but it turned out to be very good bad. Watch it on a Sunday afternoon or late Saturday night. A fun b grade multi-genre film. I found it on Roku streaming for free. I was entertained! Very surprisingly so.

No CK or getting AA's

Well it's not Citizen Kane, and it's not going to win any academy awards. I just wanted to say that. That's the way you start a review for a cheesy horror movie. Correct? That's what I thought I would do. Once again I shall reiterate. It's not Citizen Kane, and it's not going to win any academy awards. Got it?

For those who enjoy films like Critters to Piranha 3D, there is something to enjoy in this wacky, cliche filled guilty pleasure of a movie.

For those expecting Citizen Kane or an academy award winning film, Look elsewhere. This is not that.

Halloween (I) (2018)
6/10
The only movie I was excited about this year. Was.
22 October 2018
Well, I didn't notice the tension or atmosphere if it was there.

Halloween 2, 4 and 6 were able to nail the atmosphere. They are creepy even when the story gets ludicrous.

This one rushes through everything with no logic, no characters worth knowing, including the older Laurie strode. H20 is a fast paced movie too, but is a far superior follow up. It has the elements. This does not.

... Once they dropped the Sister storyline they were finally free! They could've taken it absolutely anywhere. I assumed Laurie would hunt him while he was doing other things. Why was SHE a special revenge for him? The story doesn't explain this.

The Loomis replacement was okay, until he wasn't a real character anymore. He becomes absurd then forgotten immediately.

The Podcaster story line was bad too, then gets ridiculous and unrealistic. Although if Laurie had gone along with them it would have been a better story.

A slower movie, with a lot less going on, leaving room for tension and suspense would have been much more appreciated. It could have been great, but it just isn't. Not at all. Such a letdown.

I'll still hold hope for a Directors cut that includes character development and a story that makes sense.

Last Resort (II) (1994 Video)

OK, this is Odd but very funny. Bizarre really...
28 September 2018
As Feldman says, as he introduces Haim to Sonia, "This is Sam and I'm Dave. Actually, I'm Sam and he's Dave. We're brothers. Well, not really brothers, We're cousins. Well, not really cousins... We're actually not really related, at all."

This is some of the gibberish people miss, but has me hitting the rewind button.

Bizarre, experimental, colorful, crazy, stupid, smart and hilarious at the same time. Also low budget, senseless, meaningless and absolutely forgettable (Which is great for repeat viewings.)

When I check my DVD shelf, I always think "I can't believe this movie really exists". It's a strange dream to behold.

"How did you get here?" Sonia asks. "We jumped through the sky" replies Feldman. He's just as unsure as we are, but somehow sells it.

Very funny if you're paying attention with your brain set to sleep REM mode.

Lucky Fritz (2009)

Bright Sunny Fun!
4 April 2014
Corey Feldman proves to be a very good actor a few times a decade. This and "The Birthday" (2004) and I suppose, "Lost Boys:The Thirst" are those films. This is a movie you can watch every few months or so when you're feeling lazy and want a ray of sunshine.

A story about a young man whom has been struck by lightening and survived so many times, he is given the nickname "Lucky" Fritz.

It has nice twists and turns and light, fun performances throughout. Filled with good humour and likable characters, it is highly recommended. This is my first review. I couldn't believe there were none supporting or against this film. I had to write one. It deserves some recognition.

I've been a fan and comeback supporter of Corey Feldman for years. As a result I've watched many mediocre and bad films, but this was a rare treat. This is what he can do when given a chance, a good character and a funny script.

Lost Boys: The Thirst (2010 Video)

This was pretty damn good!
12 October 2010
I just got finished watching my new blu-ray copy of "Lost Boys : The Thirst" and I must admit I was very surprised at how well done it was. I've heard a few criticisms regarding the acting etc, and I can't imagine what they were referring to. Corey Feldman was very good (It's about time he got another American lead role. He was excellent in Lucky Fritz and The Birthday) and all the main characters played their parts well. The women were even age appropriate and had character, which is very rare in a horror movie these days. It didn't even feel like a low budget movie (smart scripts can fix that) unless you compare the cast of the Original which is always unfair. It must be judged for what it is, a high energy, funny, gory and entertaining movie! Well worth a watch...or 2 or 3 maybe.

Now Feldman can use his DVD star power to executive produce Meatballs 5 and Rock'n Roll Highschool Forever and Ever and Ever!...Or just keep making good movies.
