Dune (2021)
Sorry... no good
Terrible and expensive rubbish. 40 years waiting for a rameke and this is the best they could do? Soft characters, a poor cast, empty, a film without personality, directed with many gadjets and with all the available technology but without talent, without passion, but worst of all, without imagination. The film is slow, boring ... long ... no wonder that in more than two hours of film they barely reach a third of the story of the original film. The original book (or books) is packed with details that they could have studied, used, but have chosen to ignore. The original film was made with little money, it had to be shot in Mexico, without computers or CG, but with enthusiasm, with imagination, with passion. The new one is the opposite. The few good things about this movie are those that resemble or have been respected from the original. Nothing else. It's a sad, empty, disappointing, pretentious, and soulless remake. Gray, aseptic, empty characters. A drab and poorly directed movie. The only thing it has are huge explosions that the original didn't have. They have been more concerned with the aesthetics (nothing original) for the technique than for the spirit. A great disappointment that seems to have two more sequels ... that I will not see. And let's not talk about the desert worms. It seems incredible that 40 years ago they had better effects. The worms in the original movie are much better, a sign that neither money nor technology is a guarantee of anything.
Vanquish (2021)
Once again, I waste my time
Once again, I waste my time watching a lousy movie. Very badly directed, badly edited, badly written, without logic, boring, without theme, without imagination and very badly done. Lionsgate is supposed to be a good film producer ... Morgan Freeman is supposed to be a good actor who can choose his films well ... Where is the imagination? The creativity? The passion? Good ideas? What happens to Hollywood? Why is almost everything you produce lately is garbage? Isn't there anyone who knows how to make movies now? Trash after trash ... and they want us to pay to see them? Hollywood is on its way to extinction.
10 Minutes Gone (2019)
Bruce. Again? Another trash?
Trivia says: Bruce Willis filmed all his scenes in one afternoon. And it really shows. Poor Bruce, he's throwing his career down the drain, in bad movies, poorly directed, and worst of all: poorly written, like this one. A waste of film.
Dark Places, Deadly Illusions (2021)
It is a joke?
Hollywood really doesn't know how to make movies anymore? Sorry but I think this movie doesn't even deserve a review.
Coming 2 America (2021)
A royal... (sorry) a real disappointment
If this movie represents the best Hollywood is capable of, then Hollywood is doomed. They tried to make a movie in which Eddie Murphy and company could show that "I still got it" ... but what they show is: "I don't got it anymore." It is not funny, it has no rhythm, any emotion, only business, presence of commercial brands, advertising spots... (Pepsi?) Isn't that supposed to be illegal? It is sad to see that not even with all the gold in the world, Hollywood is unable to do anything better than what it already did 40 years ago. The best thing in the movie are the pieces of the original. A real disappointment. Movies cannot be made by accountants and investors. Wake up Hollywood! If you keep making movies this way, you will end up disappearing.
Copper Bill (2020)
Bad or cheep?
It is clear that the director tried to make a film that did not cost much, few actors, only one location, minimal equipment ... The industry pushes us all to make films under this concept, far from the unattainable gigantic industrial machinery of Hollywood. Writing a script, with those parameters is not difficult, the difficult thing is to do it well. Write a good story. That is the difference between making a film that costs little money, and a cheap film. This is a cheap movie. The script is poor, ridiculous at times, unnecessarily lengthened with dull dialogue. The plot is simple, empty, repeated, forced. The characters are not clear except for one. The direction is simple, it does not show any talent. The movie is, as I say, cheap. A very close adjective to bad. Sometimes it would even look the same. Every day it is more and more difficult to find a good movie. What is happening? The imagination is not at odds with low budgets. In fact, that is precisely what makes a low-budget, independent film with few actors very good: imagination. But to get there, a very rare ingredient is also needed: talent. That ingredient doesn't shine in this movie. Is it a bad film? For me it is. But you must see it so that you can make your own opinion. It may even sound good to you.
Breach (2020)
Poor Bruce...
Once upon a time, critics tore apart a young director named Edward Davis Wood, Jr., for making what they called the worst movie ever. Well compared to this, Ed Wood is a genius. Ed Wood's worst movie is good next to this one. Ed Wood could not launch his career sunk by critics, but the director of this film seems to enjoy unknown privileges. Why? Doesn't Hollywood say "you're only as good as your last job"? For unknown reasons, this terrible director and producer goes on and on working with stars the size of Bruce Willies. (Poor Bruce) Aren't there better directors in Hollywood? there must be thousands much more talented who are being ignored. Why does this person have a job? Weren't there better and brighter scripts to film or invest money in? Unfortunately I think this more often every day.
I always try to see things from a positive point of view but it is getting harder and harder. I hoped that this movie was actually a joke, and I tried to see it from this perspective ... was useless. And those who invested money, don't they regret it? Please Mr. Willis, don't end your professional career by burying yourself under this heap of bad productions. This is not cinema, nor entertainment, it is a scam. A scam for those who invested the money, a scam for the audience, a scam for the professionals who worked in it ... What is happening to the film industry? Is the imagination over? Is this movie the best they can do? Really? What is the excuse in this current age, for not doing things right? Not to make good CG? There are children who with their phones are capable of making better effects ... It's sad to see so much waste.
Dreamland (2019)
A bad movie?
I am not going to waste time doing a long review of this movie. I find nothing positive, nothing good, nothing that I can put on the other side of the scale to be objective, or try to be fair. The movie is the worst movie I have seen in a long time. The script is bad, the direction is ... what direction? It seems directed by an 11-year-old boy, who is not up to date with digital technology, of course. The protagonist's double acting does not make sense. In fact, nothing in this movie has it. If you want to waste your time, go ahead and watch it. My big question is how do they get all the money to make a movie with such a script? Are they laundering money? Is it money from some eccentric millionaire? It is a mystery why there are people willing to put millions into such a project, when there are so many good projects waiting for a single penny. It's not fair. It is a waste of budget and a stone in the face of the actors who participated in it. Unbelievable.
