The War of the Worlds (2005)
to laugh or not to laugh...
I picked this up at Wal-Mart on a whim and I must say, one must definitely use his or her imagination when watching this movie... I have to agree that there's a bit too much walking around in it but overall I thought the story itself was pretty good... the effects are kind of reminiscent of a modern day Clash of the Titans, lol... I did get a lot of laughs from the movie and it kept me entertained; didn't really seem like a 3-hour movie... if you haven't seen it yet, just give it a chance... and if you're a fan of the story then you'll appreciate the fact that this is the best adaptation thus far from Wells' book... there's definitely a great idea behind this movie, just not a lot of visual support... I saw the Tom Cruise version last week and I was a little disappointed in the storyline, albeit the effects kicked-ass... I think if one were to combine the storyline from this movie and the effects from the Tom Cruise movie, then we'd have one awesome War of the Worlds...
