The Chosen (2017)
Brings the 'characters' of the Bible to life
While the Bible is the greatest book ever written, it can be easy to almost dehumanize the people in it since while all Scripture is God-breathed, it leaves out most of the details of any individual reactions between the characters.
I love the creative license taken by the creators of this series. They wrote it in such a way that helped add a layer of humanity (if that's the right way to put it) without compromising the integrity of Scripture. It was incredibly well made and well acted considering the budget. And I think the series could be a tremendous tool in helping to further the Kingdom of God. I had tears in my eyes during more than a few portions of every episode, especially the scenes which included Jesus.
I pray this show receives the funding it needs to keep being produced. I will be helping in whatever small capacity I am able. I truly wish I had the means to finance the whole project (and the opportunity to be an extra on the show!).
The Pilgrim's Progress (2019)
Not 'perfect' but Awesome overall
From a material standpoint this movie doesn't have the 'cutting edge' tech for animation along w some mildly hokey moments (like the judge speaking at the vanity fair). And it's not completely true to the book in many ways (but how could it possibly be given the several hundred page original by Bunyan). This is the best adaptation I've seen and I've seen nearly all of them. Would I like to see a big budget, live-action version? Absolutely! But both I, my friends and my kiddos Loved watching this together.
I truly hope they follow through on the time be continued' at the end which I can only assume that means they are considering making the 2nd part of Bunyan's work on Christiana and her kid's journey to the Celestial City. So even though I never saw this in the movie theatre (I never even knew it was there until too late unfortunately, or I would have) and I only rented this from the library; I will do my minute part in supporting it by buying it for my family (and maybe some friends for Christmas!) as well as talking it up online.
Venom (2018)
Critics, as usual, are stupid overpaid aholes
This movie was phenomenal. TBH it was NOTHING like what I expected based on Spiderman 3 but granted I've never read the comics. Tom Hardy is an incredible actor and the ensemble cast was terrific. My kids and I ALL loved this latest Marvel flick. Screw the idiotic, overpaid critics who are nearly always wrong.
Seven in Heaven (2018)
Giving a 10 to offset the negativity.
Ok so this movie was a solid 8. And I am a full grown adult. I thought the plot was interesting. Good acting. Relatively novel idea. It had me very intrigued until the very end. I didnt particularly care for the last shot as it opened up questions as to whether or not Jude would still end up in trouble but this movie was incredibly well done in my opinion.
