Players (2024)
Corny and predictable but so heartwarming
A corny and predictable rom-com, sure.
But all the 'players' in this movie are just so lovable, charming and charismatic.
It's one of those feel-good movies that leaves you with a warm and soft feeling in the heart.
Gina Rodriguez is stunning as always and Liza Koshy has me cackling from the first minute she's on screen. The chemistry between all the actors is palpable as if they really have been friends their whole lives.
Go watch this movie, it's great.
Yes, sure, it's not an incredible, oscar-worthy movie but it's also not trying to be. I will definitely watch this again. Multiples times.
Survival of the Thickest (2023)
Haven't seen something this GOOD in a while
Just on all fronts; production, acting, writing, etc. This show made me feel things in the absolute best way.
Funny and light and still hitting those deep spots that make you real emotional.
A story about empowerment, hope, relationships, dreaming big and striving for diversity.
I have been a big fan of Michelle Buteau for a minute and in this series she reaches all time highs with her charismatic and powerful character Mavis.
Not only does she play the part so well, she also co-wrote it which makes so much sense since she makes the whole series feel like the most realistic dream-montage.
It better be getting a second season!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
A dynamic rollercoaster you need to see on the big screen
A movie with gorgeous visual effects and a beautiful, fantastical imagination.
The plot is interesting but some of the writing isn't great. Also the acting here and there is a little over the top dramatic and the twists & turns can be a bit much but it kind of makes it part of the charm.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)
Hilariously bad
If you ever feel like watching a really funny parody of an action movie you should watch G. I. Joe. Literally laughed the whole way through with how ridiculous it is. I will definitely recommend to friends!
Malignant (2021)
How dissapointning
Wow this movie is bad.
I mean besides the beautiful decor and great camera work this movie is such a waste. The acting? BAD. The writing? WORSE. So incredibly predictable.
I mean I know it's a paranormal horror movie but I was almost laughing the entire time. Some moments I physically cringed.
Definitely a movie I would recommend to someone who I very much dislike.
The Night House (2020)
Brilliant
The Night House exceeded all my expectations. A truly remarkable film with such a great story. I loved every bit of it.
I am personally a fan of a story that slowly unravels but keeps the mystery all the way to the end. I don't need an explanation for everything with the whodunnit and what happend. Which is exactly why this movie now belongs to my top favourites. You can feel the deep rooted purpose of every second.
Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021)
Satisfying in the best way
An incredible mini series with magic, horror, witches, catladies and deep colourful settings.
Everything about this series has been thought out to the bone and is therefor just stunning in each and every way.
The acting is beyond sublime and the writing is as good as writing can possibly get.
Definitely one of my favourite series ever.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Absolutely Great Movie.
No Idea why so many people don't like this movie. I guess it's an acquired taste?
I thought the acting was sublime, the camerawork very satisfying, the score was perfect and the story captured me completely. Even though sometimes the story gets a little predictable, the way it's told is magic to me.
I think this movie has so many layers and leaves so many questions unanswered. But that's its absolute beauty. I don't like typical Hollywood movies where everything needs to be explained to the letter. Leave me some room for imagination and interpretation.
I will definitely recommend this movie to friends and am curious to their opinion!
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)
A pity, because it could have been so good...
All the costumes and effects are great, just a pity that the whole plot is terrible... Great actors such as Helen Mirren, Matthew Macfadyen and Keira Knightley don't get to show their talents because of poorly written characters without any nuance or depth. Main actress Mackenzie Foy is beautiful to look at but sadly it doesn't go any further then that, although she's a great actress like we've seen in movies like Interstellar or The Conjuring. The whole movie is full of clichés and moments where the audience just goes like 'really?'. Such a pity because it could have been great.
Bird Box (2018)
Absolutely brilliant movie
An amazing movie. To me this movie addresses all of the most important aspects of being human. It is absolutely terrifying in some moments, but is also incredibly layered, giving its audience a trip of many emotions. Sandra Bullock is extraordinary.
