Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
One Sided Love-Craziness-Comedy and SRK
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil :
Disclaimer: All the comments regarding/about this film belongs to me. Hang on! the previous sentence is so boring to mention. The real disclaimer comes with the statuary warning of having spoiler about this movie in this review. Still you will go through it at least once.
This is typical KJO's film. London, private jet, study in abroad, heavily designed lahenga, extra material affairs and that special/secret spice which one adds to make the dish unforgettable. Amazing part is this movie contains classic bolly-wood songs, reference to other KJO's special movies. RK and Anushka is like 'Payaar' and 'Dosti' where 'Payaar is the hero of the film' and 'Dosti is the heroine'. (Not revealing everything here)
Direction: KJO comes with almost same essence. You may consider Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
Acting: All the characters have nailed it. Anushka is the best at her zone(if i do not consider her copying Shredevi). RK is RK when its a matter of sad-intense-emotional-crazy role. Fawad Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bacchan can seriously claim this movie in their filmography as a good reference.
Cameo Characters: (As you all know) SRK, Alia Bhatt is like added Brownie-with-Chocolate which everyone will enjoy.
Faults: How can the girl, who has family to boycott her marriage, afford so such beautiful and heavy lahenga?
Wrapping up: Its one of the best movie of KJO, Anushka, RK, Aishwarya Rai Bacchan. Go and watch it.
For me its: 3*/5
Baar Baar Dekho (2016)
'Baar Baar Dekho' - Ek baar hi dekho
'Baar Baar Dekho' - Ek baar hi dekho
Review: Keeping aside the beautiful songs lets postmortem the movie, As far as the story(line) is to be considered and team showed new angle in Bollywood movies. As I have never promised for not having any spoiler in my review(s), I can reveal the story line here. But why should I type such long paragraphs? The trailer does that indeed. There is nothing much than the trailer has already showcased. Okay hang on! There is a so called twist-climax-Happy ending. Which is quite predicable.
Coming to acting : Choreographers must get an award for making Katrina generate those expressions over those songs. Otherwise the acting level of the entire movie is : 'Katrina Kaif'. Anyways, you might have some other points to add or mention.
For me : 'Baar Baar Dekho' - Ek baar hi dekho : 2.5*/5
Tamasha (2015)
Tamasha
I don't feel to mention the star-casts over here as you all who are eying my post do know that. First Frame of the movie: Piyush Mishra narrating stories to a young boy and the location is Simla. Ranbir Kapoor as Ved Vardhan Sahni is a north Indian boy who always asked to fulfill the family goal like good marks-decent job (read as: high). He is a boy who doesn't like Math but he was to go for that. And Day-by-day he got frustrated with the circumstances. And then it rolls. RK meets 'Mona Darling' aka Deepika Padukone as Tara Maheshwari in Corsica, France. Now here comes the twist: Quoting Imtiaz Ali : "Why the same story always", I'd like to inform you that this movie doesn't state a linear story so you need to concentrate if you are keen. Do watch to know the climax.
Performances:
Okay! When it includes Imtiaz Ali as director, Deepika Padukone- Ranbir Kapoor in lead and A.R. Rahman's music, there comes no question mark for the performance. It frames beautiful Shimla, Corsica, Kolkata and Japan.
-----:Wrapping Up:-----
Go for it: It states no usual story so it's not that much predictable.
Bypass it: *No reason found from my side.*
For me its:
For the story, for the Imtiaz-Rk-A.R. Rahman Jodi, for the perfect Deepika and for the beautiful locations, I rate it : 3.5***
Shaandaar (2015)
Shandaaaar !
Shandaar:
Shaandaar is an upcoming Indian romantic comedy film, directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. And I don't consider to discuss about the casting as you all know that. Its Kapoors and Bhatt.
Two super rich business families of India have decided to turn in- law to each other as part of a business merger. This wedding is taking place at castle in Europe. Mrs. Kamla Arora is the grandma in the family and the sole owner of the billion dollar business. Now this big family is giving their girl to Sanjay Kapoor's son who is Sindhi businessman. Then it comes to the love story between Aliya (Alia Bhatt) and Jagjinder Joginder (Shahid Kapoor). Like any other father, Pankaj Kapur feels that there is no guy who deserves his daughter and going by the same logic, doesn't approve of Jagjinder. While Aliya and Jagjinder hold two opposite personalities who have got attracted to each other. Karan Johar makes a cameo. Sahid Kapoor's Sister Gulabo (Sanah Kapoor as Isha) debuts here. Will this fairy tale love story get a happy ending or will Bipin ruin this dreamy love affair! (Though you can predict) Watch the film to find out.
Performances:
Pankaj Kapur has simply excelled in his role. Next comes, his son (off camera), Shahid Kapoor whose chemistry with Alia Bhatt is just too adorable and mesmerizing. Shahid has been seen in roles that have been so different from one another and we'll see Shahid to deliver his role once again! Alia makes you fall in love with her. The highlight of the movie is the direction, the script. The cinematography is another USP of this film, where each shot looks like a beautiful picture. Kindly don't relate the movie with Queen.
Wrapping up :
Go For :
Acting, Storyline, Music in short almost everything. And obviously Shahid and Alia.
Bypass It For :
The second half is little boring and lack of emotions.
Sanjay Kapoor
Frankly there is not big reason to bypass Shandar.
For me its : Shandaaaar ! It will entertain you. 3***/5
Jazbaa (2015)
Jazbaa
Jazbaa, an action-drama film directed by Sanjay Gupta, stars Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi in supporting roles and you know who is in lead! With the Spoilers' warning I'm gonna start the review.
Okay so the film tells the story of Anuradha Verma (A.R. Bacchan) is a prominent lawyer, who has yet to lose a case. And then her daughter disappears. Later in the day, Anuradha receives a phone call from the man who abducted her daughter. The man makes it clear that the only way she will ever see her daughter again is to defend a convicted felon who is appealing his conviction in Court. Anuradha has only few days before his trial ends. She is warned not to go to the cops because the abductor will be closely watching all her moves. Anuradha's cop friend Yohan (irrfan Khan), a suspended policeman, finds out about the abduction and decides to help her. Anuradha has to race against time to save her daughter. All she has are few days. And do watch the movie to know what happens next (Though the climax is predictable enough). This movie is a remake of a Korean movie named "Seven Days".
Performances:
Okay! I'm of the opinion that A.R. Bacchan couldn't have chosen a better film to come back after her five-year long break and A.R. Bacchan is in a character that isn't close to anything she has done before. Several times the supporting casts (Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi) did lift the scenes to a higher note. When it's a matter of Mr. Sanjay Gupta, how can someone miss unwanted and unnecessary item song. It movie includes 'car chasing' too. I do think editing could have been done in more intelligent way, though its decent. This movie has a time-span of 120 minutes only! I don't know why did Mr. Kamlesh Pandey missed the essence of the movie sometimes. Serious story-line with funny dialogues.
Other technical faults:
Mental asylum and Rehab centers aren't same.
Suspended cop aren't allowed to order juniors.
Little continuity faults (you can ignore).
Wrapping up:
Go for :
Story
Acting of Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi and A.R. Bacchan.
Bypass it for:
Try hard to feel suspense (For movie buffers).
For me it's : 3***/5 (considering overall movie. Though Irfan, A.R. Bacchan, S. Azmi deserves 4.5*)
Singh Is Bliing (2015)
Do watch it for only Akshay Kumar. Okay! You can go for lovely Amy Jackson too.
Singh Is Bliing is an action comedy film directed by Prabhudeva. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson and Lara Dutta in the lead roles. And it's not sequel of 'Singh Is King' as far as story-line is concerned.
Okay so the film tells the story of Raftaar Singh (Akshay Kumar). Raftaar Singh is living happily in his village. But he is the biggest irritant of his father (Yograj Singh). And an emotional mother. As it is common in Punjabi films (not in real), he is irresponsible and always looking for fun with his friends. One day his father feds up and asks him to go to Goa and do some work for his friend there. Upon reaching in Goa, he impresses his new boss with his enthusiasm and out of the box thinking. Soon he meets his lady love Sara (Amy Jackson) there. But the problem is that she cannot speak Hindi while Raftaar cannot understand English. Then he is joined by the lovable Emily (Lara Dutta) as a translator who almost ruins their budding love.
Will Raftaar Singh, who can't even communicate properly be able to win her over in a distant and dangerous land? Watch the film to find out. The only surprise element so far has been Sunny Leone.
Performances:
When it comes to comedy, no one can beat Akshay Kumar. This film is all about Akshay Kumar. He rules the character from the first frame itself. Amy Jackson does a decent job. She still needs to improve her dialogue delivery. Lara Dutta as Emily, acts well in comedy scenes. Hope, this film will help her to get new projects ahead. If I do consider other films of Prabhudeva, this film does not even touch that mark. But still it's watchable. It includes comedy and action too. Screenplay is decent. Editing could have been done in a better way. This movie has a boring second-half.
Wrapping Up:-
Go for: Akshay Kumar Comedy
Bypass it for: Second half of the film Overall Story
For me it's: Being an angle I'm giving it 6*/10
