IF YOU HAVE TASTE THIS IS A 5/10
27 November 2022
By bollywood standards it's a good film. But what upsets me is how easily it could have been a good film by all standards had they tweaked the most basic things. Filmmaker in Bollywood don't edit their films. It's upsetting.

This movie could have used better editing. The pacing ruined this film. A movie that should have been 1.45 minutes was instead more than 2 hours. The characters weren't that unique except for Jomin. The story was predictable.

The songs, cinematography, special affects and comedy saves the movie. Although, without the right direction and pacing, the film doesn't achieve the greatness it had the potential of achieving.

A superhero movie, nothing more, nothing less.
3 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the film, the romance aspect was good. The plot was okay, it was predictable for Spiderman fans. The villain wasn't spectacular. (spoilers ahead- turn back now). This is because he was supposed to be introducing us to a multiverse but is actually just from the same universe as us, which is fine but they set the fans up to expect one thing, then plot twist, it's suddenly disappointing than what we expected, an introduction to the multiverse.

I just didn't like anything about the villain because he wasn't creepy, wasn't scary, wasn't crazy, wasn't even normal like from the 1st Spiderman movie. He was just a guy good at tech hating on superheroes. The movie starts and Spiderman is at a bad place, the movie end, after the credit scene, he's at a worse place. So I didn't feel pumped after the movie, I didn't even feel any profound emotion. I was just like, ah they've set us up for the next one. Great. Like very marvel movie.

I mean I love the characters aside from the villain, who I thought would be easy to defeat if Spiderman had just taken him out when he saw him on the bridge but instead fought with the drones wasting abit of time. It's not that I think it's a bad movie, it's abit unbelievable compared to the movies with Toby or Andrew. Because Spiderman is no longer the kid fighting petty crime, he's a rich kid now with huge amounts of tech, that's the marvel/Disney version of him I should have accepted by now though. I mean Iike character growth but I like simplicity and heart too. Which I didn't find too much of. I can't imagine a 16 year old going through the things he did and be able to fight that level of threat.

Then a group of kids are going on a life threatening class trip and just continue with the trip. They're like, to Italy! gets attacked by a water monster, next, to Prague, gets attacked by a fire monster, to UK! I think I would have PTSD, after almost dying the first time around. Good movie, and if I was better with words I could probably explain why I just didn't connect with it. Yet I recommend it, obviously. It's fun and worth the money spent.

Secrecy and avoiding spoilers did no good to the Russos
19 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Did I enjoy it? Yes. Did I feel content and as of a meaningful chapter of my life is properly closed? No.

I'll tell you the issues I have with this movie as a fan from the beginning. It does not close character arcs. No where in this movie does Thanos realise his mistake or the flaws of his plans. It does not seem redeeming or feel satisfying as a fan when villains show no remorse or guilt. They just die. It's anticlimactic. Hawkeye kills a bunch of people yet it is Natasha that sacrifices herself. A death which was rushed by the directors, to a point where she didn't get a Funeral. The Russo's decides post production that she should die instead of Clint. Were we supposed to empathise with his family that has little emotional value to long running fans? Was she a more worthy character to be killed because the actress no longer wishes to return to the role after her solo Black Widow movie? That's the issue, the writers and directors have always made open ended films. They are used to designing entertainment that sparks curiousity to what happens next (even though they barely follow up). That is why they did a poor job of finishing story arcs. Steve Rogers travelling back in time should have created an alternative timeline, as they had previously mentioned killing baby thanks would. Steve Rogers clearly suffering from PTSD once again, shows intentions of destructive behaviour if their plan to bring back the fallen doesn't work. Then he accomplished that, then left his entire life behind for a woman he barely knew. Because the writers didn't know how to come to an end. Tony's death was impactful, I'd say his storyline was the heart of the film.

There are alot more issues I have, Thor's storyline was fun but at times I suspected that his body shape was a running joke that I couldn't understand because to me fat people are not funny simply by existing, yet the audience in the theatre took a look at him and laughed, the fat jokes did him no favour. It really showed that the Russo's could not keep up with taika Waititi's humour. Okoye and Captain Marvel, two strong leads, were completely ignored at times.. Nebula had a good arc but she scarified herself. As her sister, Gamorra was willing to do I'm iW. These sisters are erased from a timeline now, and what this does to the guardians in that timeline unsettles me.

I feel like the story was incredibly rushed. This is a Disney movie. They kept it very disney. I wanted a bit more angst. A bit more intellect. And I do believe if the Russo's weren't so committed to secrecy then they would have communicated better with writers and the actors that know these characters.

The movie in its entirety was not impressive. I don't understand how the same directors and writers who made one of the best superhero movies in 2014, where characters had depth and reasoning, could end up making something that is incomparable to the older movies.

The directors are also adding concepts after the release that make no sense, such as Bucky being less than human (a tortured war veteran), then saying things as Natasha will not get a Funeral because she has no family, etc etc. They have almost 0 understanding of certain characters.

It's not for kids so I'm going to rate it 1? STOP
3 November 2018
(Some parents are complaining about the rating but are ignoring the quality of this movie for their little issues. It's why parent's can actually look up reviews before watching a movie with their kids. Like you guys are fine letting your kids watch prince charming kiss unconscious princesses but mild horror, oh no?)

Anyway, yeah this movie was good, and most kids will like it too, if they love Harry Potter, then this will be great for them. I did want to give it 10/10 for the rating being so low but that wouldn't be an honest review of the quality of the movie. It was definitely entertaining and thrilling for me.
