Bastarden (2023)
Martian in a Middle age Denmark
Great acting from Mads Mikkelsen, he is perfect in everything: being James Bond villain and kicking balls, drinking professor with great dancing skills, or growing potatoes on lifeless Utland swamps.
No surprise, the whole drama is around whether will potato grow and it's quite boring. A kind of agricultural drama in the middle of nowhere.
Mads is good, judge is bad, king is drunk, poor peasant is bitten and punished to death. Oscar worse performance from any point of view with gipsy girl as a little bonus.
Making mashed potatoes will never be the same after this great piece of drama with magnificent Mads!
Barry: wow (2023)
Wait, what?
Unbelievable! Bary died as a hero and be praised with sequels and prequels.
Overdramatise this season has become a trademark. Without any reason, of course. You can't say, Barry went to God Sully drink all day and Noho Hank killed Cristobal just for our fun. They should have tried to make a simple connection with first seasons.
I think Barry would be better keep alive as a movie producer with Cusino as a director and Sally as a star. No John, please. No John, it's a nonsense.
Fuches could be still in prison or somewhere in Chechnya, I don't care. And Hank and Cristobal became investors in San Diego sand, I'm okay with that. All live long and happy except Moss, he can follow for suspect Barry with no evdences.
I refuse to accept this season final with all the mess and time jumps. I believe in better Barry.
He should be somewhere around.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Avatar meets Titanic
Okay, Cameron did it again. He drowned the ship full of people and got tremendous box office. One big difference - the guy named Jack survived this time, so everything is fine.
You don't expect great storytelling and you get a great journey without any meaning but visually stunning. I honestly forgot what is happening after first hour, just watched and wowed. The water, the underwater worlds and it's creatures looks amazing. Like the first Avatar this one deliver smth you won't see in a movie so everything else went far on background.
Here we have no significant acting performance. The emotional part lies on a Great Whale (not on that Whale with Brandon Fraser) who became outcast but did not forget who he is. Unfortunately it has no lines, but eyes can speak, you know. Rather people carry the baggage of visitors in the Steven Spielberg Jurassic Park and provide us some context.
Good guys are good and bad guys are bad. Family is everything and being bad is bad for your health and sertanly leed to death. So try to be good and all be fine.
How fine we'll see in 2024 after Avatar 3 release.
Maybe, they try to live in the sky?
Barry: a nice meal (2023)
When Barry meets Sally
You should remember the end of the 2nd season, right? Great climax with tons of bodies, in a chirch made by Barry only, walking and screaming Fuuuuches! What a time!
Now we got near the end of the season barely keeping eyes open. We went through 8 years time jump, drunken Sally, bearded Cusino and for no reason mentioned Deniel Del Lewis. NoHoHank is funny. Again. Missile attack is the best moment of whole season, a spark of light in dark bold story. Barry doing nothing once again acting as a chair, I expect he rise like a Batmen in the final episode and kick all the asses. Maybe that'll be fun to watch.
But now there nothing but poor and lazy writing.
Barry: the wizard (2023)
Barry, where are you?
He's gone. Obviously this season should've been named Hanky or No Barry included. I guess Hader made a bet, that he could destroy perfect show and he eager to win. Humor gone, action gone, what we've got instead? Drunk Sally, Merlyn bearded Cusino with no reason to be here, veeeeery serious NoHoHank and painted Fuches as Raven. Great setup for tremendous failure. They all should've got together and drove into Barry's house.
And what was the purpose of eight years time jump? What have changed? Just saying
I don't know what else they gonna do in the last episodes, but I'm happy it finally be over soon.
Barry: tricky legacies (2023)
No way this is Barry we used to know
What happened to the character we loved? What went wrong? Why all this happens to smart funny traumatized ex-marine, who receives a gun via FedEx and fight tequando champion with his bare hands? This couldn't be real to Barry. Hader creates a mess, all went crazy serious with no bloody humor. No jokes, no laughs, nothing to watch and nobody to care about. All he does is a slow painful (for us, viewers) murder of a great and complex character with no mercy to him and to us. Like the last season of Game of Thrones, only slow-paced and without walking dead and flying from nowhere dragons.
What a waste!
Moon Knight: Asylum (2022)
Isaac's performance is great.
No matter what is going on in these series, Oscar Isaac give us a great acting.
Moon Knight made a great surprise to the audience in 5th episode.
8 of 10.
The Alienist (2018)
Season 1 is great!
I havent read the book yet, and watching series episode By episode was a great adventure. Like in good old times, when detectives were without boring personal drama and lovestories. Yes, here we have some drama and even a small lovestory and its allright and not makes you fall asleep.
Tension is also great, each episode, except of 7, I think, makes you watch at the edge of your seat. The whole atmosphere, costume design and lots of mustage performed perfectly.
It deserves all 9 stars.
Little Fires Everywhere (2020)
All the kings men
Here you can find the wide range of modern problems. Racism? Here. Bad mothers? A lot! Intolerance and egoism of teens? Mwa haha - sit and watch
Anyway, script is bad and boring. Chinese girl impacts all the characters lives which is no way to be possible. Mothers behave like sergants in a military camp.
A would prefer all the houses to be burned in the 1st episode. Other 5 were a great waste of time.
Oh, I really enjoyed that Chinese lawyer - he did a great job, earning his money, being 100% sure he's not gonna make it. Great character!
The New Pope: Episode #1.9 (2020)
The end is here
The New Pope was a disaster from the very 1st episode. Looong, boring without anything except great picture. From the episode 7 it had a little intrigue - who will be the Pope: Lenny or Brannox. And what is the end? It's a total nonsense without a piece of logic in it.
The Young Pope was full of irony, misery, undercarpet political games. It was like life - unpredictable and had all of your attention, you were guessing what will happen next.
The New Pope appeared to be poor copy, pale as the Malkovich face and immobile as Lenny till the 7th episode. Nothing worse our attention has happened but the extremely great and beautiful picture.
And thanks God this is the End
