Timecrimes (2007)

Is there anybody in with me on this ?
10 August 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I think in the beginning, Hector 1 really cared to keep on being Hector 1 but after he pulled his wife's foot & she fell down to the ground & died, he became very despondent & didn't care about keeping everything "in order" as was told by the Young Man anymore. To have his wife alive again, he started to have murder in his mind, knowing that by getting into the tank, he could go back to the past by 1hr30, alter events to safe his wife his way. He returned to the silo, refused to tell his motive, forced the Young Man to put him back in the tank. Later, he got out of the tank, left, met the Girl & subsequently, brought her to his house. Hector then met his wife ( without letting the 2 women knew each other's presence), took her to a safe place. In order not to arouse the girl's suspicion, he climbed upstairs by the ladder into the window, put his wife's red coat on the Girl ( Clara died with the red coat on ), cut her hair & told her to run to the roof. He & his wife then sat still while the other Hector pulled the Girl's leg, she fell down to the ground & died. Hector, by then, could keep his wife alive but also had committed the perfect murder. He also didn't care anymore whether this meant he committed a crime against the order of the universe. Therefore " Time Crimes " on 2 levels : personal & universal.

Oldboy (2003)
8/10
Excellent movie
4 November 2006
This is the 1st Korean movie that I've ever seen, & I think it's excellent ( I already saw a lot of Japanese & Chinese movies ) . After that I saw Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, Painted Fire & A Tale Of Two Sisters. I found them all quite good but Oldboy remains my most favorite South Korean movie. Of course I read the review in the newspaper but by the time I sat down & watched Oldboy, I already forgot what it's all about so I was able to watch it without any preconceived notion. I find it fascinating that even though it's a crime drama, the movie offers a look into the South Korean society where people live with such passion. I know the story originates from Japanese materials but it does not really affect much the art of film-making.
