Master (2021)
Good one from Vijay after a while
A very strong film from Vijay after many years. No overacting, no cringe dialogue or annoying moments. Just pure entertainment. The movie does have a fair share of flaws, but it is important to notice the promising direction that Vijay's character is seeming to head in. Looking forward to another Vijay-Lokesh combo.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
WOW. WOW. WOW.
First off for those who are looking for a extremely violent Tarantino affair from start to finish this is not it. This movie is a gift to filmmaking and set designing. Performances you'll never forget with an absolutely banger of a climax. Don't miss.
Kaala (2018)
best rajini movie in the past 10 years
The king is back. everything was positive except one may feel rajinikanth punch was needed more in a few scenes
Ant-Man (2015)
Phase 3 in the Marvel Franchise has taken a new attempt that should be applauded for, even if it doesn't pack the best performances.
REVIEW: ANT-MAN(2015) Cast: Paul Rudd, Micheal Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, and Micheal Peña Directed by: Peyton Reed Release Date: July 17, 2015 Production: Marvel Studios Rated:PG-13
When people make fun of you for being short and puny, you can now say that isn't something to ashamed of. As of July 17, 2015, you are a superhero. Ant-Man is Phase three in the Marvel Universe and is directed by Peyton Reed, the director of movies such as "Yes Man". It stars Paul in the main and Michael Douglas as the bearded scientist. Ant-Man is a rollicking amount of fun, and by far is the best movie this summer. It's an extremely fun visual popcorn adventure.
Forced out of his own company by former protégé Darren Cross, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) recruits the talents of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a master thief just released from prison. Lang becomes Ant-Man, trained by Pym and armed with a suit that allows him to shrink in size, possess superhuman strength and control an army of ants. The miniature hero must use his new skills to prevent Cross, also known as Yellowjacket, from perfecting the same technology and using it as a weapon for evil.
As usual, the main character's boss gets in a complete mess and it's up to the superhero to fix it. What's really nice about this movie is how they portray it. Throughout this movie there are many Civil War developments (spoilers, especially the end credits scene), and are portrayed very smoothly and nice. The characters make you care for them in every bit of the story. Now, Paul Rudd is honestly the king of the show. He shows himself as a bad-ass good guy and also as a protective father. The only major drawback in this film was the villain. Corey Stoll's HoneyJacket was overdone and played awful and to be honest, Corey Stoll is just an OK villain, with an evil look. Hey, that's all you really need. But still, it was a major drawback. Also, as Michael Douglas is getting older, his emotions and actions seem to be fading away. A once amazing actor has nothing special to offer in this movie.
The graphics in this movie are simply superb. The graphical train fight scene and all the others were shot and edited with heavy perfection and effort. Running through the movie, not once would you notice the difference between the graphics and reality. The BGM draws you in to that deep extent that most superhero movies don't achieve. They lit the performances and action with their fast and heavy-beated music, and also broke the laughter at times with the rock music in the middle.
Yes, this is definitely what every superhero plot sounds like, but just with a different kick. The superhero is a ant. The screenplay moves along just fine accompanied with Michael Peña's and Paul Rudd's witty one-line comedies and Paul Rudd packs a fine performance even if you would expect less from him. The BGM Is just breathtaking and it just moves you off the edge of your seat. Overall, Ant-Man is a well executed superhero movie.
The Visit (2015)
The Visit is a welcome return to Shyamalan, even though it's boring at times and kills the creep.
The Visit (2015)
Cast: Ed Oxdenbould, Peter McRobbie, DeAnna Dunnagan, and Olivia DeJonge
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Produced: Blumhouse Productions
Rated: PG-13
Oh my! M. Night Shyamalan is finally back after making few movies while being drunk. JEEZE, that grandma is scary. The Visit, is the director of Critically Acclaimed "Sixth Sense", which was really the only blockbuster hit. After giving out a back to back sci-if duds, Shyamalan has finally returned back to his thriller territory with this movie. This movie is a normal thriller, but it's done right.
Becca(Olivia DeJonge) and younger brother Tyler(Ed Oxdenbould), leave to see the grandparents they have never seen. They head deep into Pensylvania, greeted by their Nana and PopPop and as a series of events follow, they wonder if they'll ever leave.
First off, all the characters are very well developed. This movie is very lightweight, and all the performances are very well done. Ed Oxdenbould is funny and lightens up the mood at times, but he also has these few irritating humorless moments that really kills the spook. This movie also has a fair share of eerie and creepiness. This being M. Night Shyamalan's first low-budget movie, it's executed very well.
All the performances are stout and the dialogue is fitting even though you do feel that humor isn't needed at some point. In the movie, there are some scenes when you will get irritated by the humor. You get the feeling that the humor killed the scariness, and that essentially it is a poor dialogue driven thriller- comedy. The creepiness and humor goes on and off at wrong places at the wrong time. Also, the movie is very repetitive at times and the screenplay slows.
The screenplay slows down in the beginning and bores you. Many scenes are repetitive, but that's OK, because it's make sense. Towards the end, the best part of this movie is that you really care for the characters. You worry and carry a connection with them throughout the movie. The characters develop this special bond with family and each other that you really care for. This movie has definitely accomplished characterization Truthfully, this is also more of a survival movie too, and is very gripping.
Overall, this movie is a nicely done thriller comedy. Do not use your brains. There are some negatives, but you can overlook them. Grab your popcorn and catch it before it runs out. Very well done, Shyamalan, continue this.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Even though it is definitely overrated somewhat, "The Dark Knight" is filled with beautiful set pieces and characters
The Dark Knight (2008)
Cast: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Maggie Gyllenhall, and Aaron Eckhart
Director: Christopher Nolan
Produced by: Syncopy
Music: Hans Zimmer
Christopher Nolan's amazing "Dark Knight" trilogy has hit heights no other movie has in superhero franchise history financially and quality wise. The "Dark Knight" is one sign that Chris Nolan is going to continue hitting home runs with his fantastic movies. The "Dark Knight" stars Christian Bale as Batman and Heath Ledger as the maniacal fame "Joker". This movie is simply amazing in the way of craft, performances, tone, and graphics. I guess the 180,000,000 million dollar budget was really worth it.
With the help of Commissioner Gordon, and new district law attorney Harevy Dent, Batman tries to eradicate all the mobs and gangs that fill the streets at night. The Joker, is the biggest one of those mob leaders, and has become a new major target in Gotham after robbing Gotham's bank. Rachel loves Harvey, and Bruce( Batman) loves her. The rest of the plot forms on how he eradicates the mob and confronts the Joker.
This movie starts off with a spectacularly shot robbery scene. The description, tone, and dialogue give you a strong liking for the movie immediately and never lets you down. The lead in this story is simply amazing. From the first scene, it hints at a bigger meaning and intent that is imposed throughout the rest of the story. Shortly, the "Joker", played by "Heath Ledger" is introduced. All of the villains and characters are introduced very uniquely, brought up with unique dialogue and meaning. This character is played spectacularly and could not have been better, and his intent, tone, dialogue, and craziness help in giving great justice to the character. Even though you might feel he is being overplayed at some time with too much screen time, this movie handles the character very nicely. Heath's Joker doesn't really look menacing until he laughs or reacts to a conversation, unlike Nicholson's Joker which was truly menacing and frantic. Batman, played by Bale is normal, but definitely proves that he is a worthy foe for such a character like Joker. Heath definitely deserved an Oscar for his role, and made a worthy and sad send-off.
The place that this movie flies high in the colors are in the plot and storytelling. Chris has crafted such a story that involves and drags you in. He has written such a story that wouldn't make you feel like watching a Batman movie, but more like a Crime Drama, and that, he has achieved splendidly. The set pieces are simply superb, and thoroughly explain the menacing place named Gotham and how it's being directly affected. The characters are given enough time to explain themselves and how they are all placed in a pivotal place in the story. This movie is high on dialogue more than action, and that's fine mainly because the action is explained in dialogue. Yes, at some points the story does take a bit too long to explain themselves, but when the ideas are fully developed, it really does work. This movie is high on emotion and bonding, and no unwanted subplots. Ultimately, this movie has deep, heavy, and dark storytelling that most movies don't accomplish doing.
The pace of this movie is very fast compared to most other superhero DC movies, and has a lot to offer. Christopher Nolan has simply made an amazing movie. This is definitely a different kind of superhero movie that conveys heavy meaning and intent without making it boring. Most superhero dwells on superpowers and overpowered villains, while this movie doesn't as much. Well I guess that what makes DC, "DC".
Now, this movie's score is simply spectacular and out of this world. It drags you off the edge of your seat, and makes it more nail biting and dark. Hans has done it yet again with his heavy usage of strings, flutes, and trumpets, while abandoning the new- generation of electronic. That's what probably makes Hans Zimmer one of the most genuine artists in the industry.
Overall, his movie is very well done and shouldn't be a miss. I admit, this movie is a bit overrated and shouldn't be the fourth best movie of all time, but it still hits a mark that no other movie in the superhero industry ever has. Chris has given us the unique Batman that shouldn't be a miss for all audiences.
Fantastic Four (2015)
:fantastic four has a good cast, but uses them to fly into a useless teaser.
FANTASTIC FOUR-REVIEW (2015)
Cast: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell
Director: Josh Trank
Release Date: August 7, 2015
Produced by:Marvel Entertainment
MPAA Rating:PG-13
One of this years most anticipated movies is finally out, and it looks like it's going to flame out very soon. Fantastic Four is directed by Josh Trank, director of the "Chronicle" and others. Even though Fantastic Four boasts a new cast including Academy Award nominated Miles Teller, nothing really seems to work in the movie. This movie has no plot and a honest throwback of a story. The lack of characterization, story, and acting is what really kills the movie. The result is this crazy, stupid, and muddled feeling of a movie. To be short, this movie feels like a teaser to something big, to something that never happens.
Noting that this the FOURTH attempt at making a good Fantastic Four movie and also keeping a talented cast, this movie still doesn't click with the franchise. Fan4tastic is trying to do a lot, but ends up doing nothing. After the hype for over 2 years, Marvel still can't make a decent Fantastic movie that keeps up. There is in fact no story in the film, though it is a graphic pleaser. This movie could have ended in many ways and could have progressed in many ways, but instead Fantastic Four goes in the direction the whole franchise went. The only real fight or action in this movie is placed in the last ten minutes. Plot-holes big enough that the "Thing" can leap right through. There is no need for a screenplay in this movie since it has a lame convoluted plot. It progresses just like every other brainless movie.
Obviously not learning anything from the other Horrible F Four movies, the movie still never progresses. This trailer lasts for around one and half hours and it really stinks. The story isn't put together properly and there's no real knitting. Now, the performances were just OK, Miles Teller was really the best thing that ever happens to the movie (At least that). You could rather put coffee shop music for this rather than action. Honestly, even Miles Teller's comedy doesn't work here.
There is no real aim in this movie noting that the villain only shows up in the last fifteen minutes. Many questions still need to be answered. Not development questions, but questions about the shamed plot-holes. The last battle last for TEN whole minutes. Really? Maybe I agree for the Avengers, but for four young kids who want lose their powers throughout the whole movie?!!
To those F4 fans, this movie is the most muddled and mired movie in the whole series. It is the worst Marvel movie ever made and god forbid there be another sequel. Ultimately, this movie gave me the thought to watch the other F4 movies, the one where they did Dr. Doom much better. Fantastic Four set out to be a really great franchise, but nothing ever worked for it. This series has always sucked and I think it's about time they let it die, like they should for "Paranormal Activity" . If you are going to watch this movie, buy some extra popcorn so you have something to focus on while watching this one and half-hour dumb snooze fest.

Steve Jobs (2015)
Steve Jobs is a brilliant piece of film, even though it have been shot many times and comes short at some places.
Steve Jobs (2015)
Director: Danny Boyle
Cast: Michael Fassbender, Seth Rogen, Kate Winslet, and Jeff Daniels
Produced by: Legendary Pictures
Rated: R
Watching Ashton Kutcher's "Jobs", in 2013 was the most boring and untrue Steve Jobs movie I have ever seen and Danny Boyle, the director of epics such as "28 Days Later", and "Slumdog Millionaire", has taken a detour from his Genre to make this splendid but exaggerated biopic on Steve Jobs. This movie takes us through a breathtaking tour and personal view of Steve Jobs's life for the first time. This movie digs deeper into his personal life more than any other even though a bit overplayed.
With public anticipation running high, Apple Inc. co-founders Steve Jobs (Michael Fassbender) and Steve "Woz" Wozniak get ready to unveil the first Macintosh in 1984. Jobs must also deal with persona issues related to ex-girlfriend Christian Brennan and their young daughter Lisa. Eventually fired, Jobs launches NeXT Inc. and prepares to release a new computer model in 1988. Ten years later, Jobs is back at Apple Inc, and is about to revolutionize the industry one again with the iMac.
Steve Jobs, played by Michael Fasebender is simply superb. He captures the emotions, the feelings, and thinking that Steve Jobs must have had. This movie opens up with a scene of Steve backstage threatening a worker of his to fix an issue with his product, and from that moment on, Michael captures that anger and arrogance that Steve was told he had. At some points, you could tell that he was overplaying Steve and that he did that to capture the deeper and emotional part of the audience. Woz, or Wozniak played by Seth Rogen was well done for a comedian even though he did have some of his own shady moments. The hardest job for comedians taking a serious role is to never really lose character. In some movies, watching the comedians playing serious roles looks like a joke that plays out throughout the movie. Kate Winslet played her role wonderfully. She portrayed this caring, loving, and moving character that attempts to set things right in Steves's life. She was motivating, and she did justice to her character. Helping Steve Jobs in this movie is one of the sub-plots in this movie, and her character tries to move Steve out of his stubborn spot. Finally, we come to Jeff Daniels. Ah, Jeff. After seeing him play the director in the "Martian", I was sure he wouldn't do serious characters anymore. But no, in this movie, Jeff really picked his stuff up, and played the role of "John Skully", the Pepsi Chairman, (from second act, Apple CEO), very flawlessly.
This movie is split perfectly into three acts, and is each given enough screen time. All were given equal importance even though the screenplay was boring at some points. All three of these had neat ending to them which tied back. The 1st act was very slow, while the rest two were strong, smooth, and moving. In most of the Steve Jobs movies, they always have talks and dialogue outside of the stage, while in this one, they hardly move out of he backstage or the stage. This is mainly what slows the fluency of the movie at times. The third act was by far the best in the movie, and explored the more personal life of Steve and his family. Aaron Sorkin could have done a better job of making the first two acts more fluid with more tension. Aaron has still wrote the screenplay 1000 times better than the person who wrote for the "Jobs" movie in 2013, which similarly also clocks in at two hours.
The only other problem I have with this movie is that this is nothing that we haven't seen before. I wanted to walk in and see a movie about the iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Instead I walked in and saw the same Mac and iMac drama which was expressed and shown twice already in movies like "Jobs" and "Pirates Of Silicon Valley". Even though this Steve Jobs movie takes the Mac to a more personal level, it still doesn't have that real and genuine feel anymore. It also isn't accurate at times, but I'm sure that's to draw the emotional side of the audiences.
The music in this movie is very interesting in some ways, and instead of the usual whirring sounds, they neatly placed band and orchestra music in too. Daniel Pemberton has done a amazing job at making this movie much more interesting than it already is. All the backstage music is accompanied by soft and stirring music, and that's what really works in this movie.
Overall, this is a beautifully made Steve Jobs masterpiece, that should definitely be a watch even though the concept has been repeated multiple times. Michael Fassbender has packed the best portrayal for Steve Jobs in years. Even though sluggish at times, I'm sure that could be overlooked with the beautiful set pieces and the performances. The music is simply soul-stirring and captivating. Seth Rogen could've been better even though he was this movie simple masterpiece that is exaggerated at times. To be said shortly, this movie comes just a of few notches short of a masterpiece.
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)
Rogue Nation is high in style, action, and jokes and proves again that Tom Cruise is action hero of one kind even if it lacks in some substance.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: ROGUE NATION (2015)
Cast: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg etc.
Director:Christopher Mcquarrie
Produced:Skydance
Release date:7/30/15
Rated:PG-13
The fifth installment in the spy franchise is coming out with a bang, and that's for sure. "Mission impossible: Rogue Nation" is directed by Christopher Mcquarrie, the writer for movie "Edge Of Tomorrow" and others. Rogue Nation is one of the most fun films in the franchise, and is loaded with tons of stunts and action, mostly done by Tom Cruise himself. This blockbuster is sure to sweep you off your feet towards the end.
After the damage the IMF inflicted on the Kremlin in Russia, Alan Hunley(Alec Baldwin) is determined to finally shutdown the IMF so they can work for the CIA. Along the way, Ethan Hunt(Tom Cruise), finds out that there is a British syndicate which contains many highly skilled assassins determined to destroy the IMF. The rest of the plot shows how they try to dissolve the Syndicate and it's leader.
This movie is sheer fun. The movie starts off with a great kick and shows off little doses of Simon Pegg humor and Tom Cruise's energy at fifty-three. The screenplay is very smoothly paced even if you would feel that the movie is bit too long. At the end of this movie, you would definitely feel that this movie was at least ten minutes too long. Nevertheless, "Rogue Nation" is pretty sweet.
Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg steal the show with there amazing jokes, stunts, and fire- action. Wait, what about the cool motorcycle chase? The soundtrack is our familiar time bomb mission theme, but it still works out really well. The action is non-stop, and it would keep you on the edge of your seat even though the problem with most of all the movies from 2015 was the horrendous characterization.
In this movie, they take a lot of time to develop more and more of the IMF life, and also the lives of the characters. Due to this, your care for the story, the action, and the characters really is worth it. Coming to the performances, Rebecca Ferguson is the best thing that ever happened to Mission Impossible because of her style, action, and her neck-breaking flips and stunts. She is the most bad-ass agent ever seen in MI. Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg do a fine job in their role, even though there were some shaky moments where they could'vs reacted better. Honestly, I when it comes to emotion and anger, Tom Cruise is never the guy. Also, it's very hard to believe that Tom Cruise is the smartest person in the movie, due to his reactions in real-life situations.
Even though there are too many characters and too many subplots, Chris Mcquarie has perfectly managed building all of them at the same time. This movie is very high on style, but kind of lacks on new substances. While watching this movie, you would feel that people have been there and done this, but ultimately the pure fun in action is what you should watch it for. Watching Tom do his two-hundred ft jump is pretty nerve-wrecking for some fans including me. That's really where the characterization kicks in. While he does his jump, all the true fans would really be scared for his life.
This movie is the most fun I had watching in a long time and I hope that Tom Cruise does it again. This movie is amazing fun and you should definitely catch it. Watching Tom Cruise do his nerve-wrecking stunts in theaters? I'm in for it again.
The Martian (2015)
"The Martian" packs great performances, visuals, and score even though it gets slow at times
"The Martian" 10/25/15
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Micheal Peña, and Chiwetel Ejiofor
Producer: 20th Century Fox
Rated: PG-13
"The Martian", is directed by "Ridley Scott, the director of many marvelous movies such as the recent "Prometheus". Mr.Scott, has done it yet again with "Martian", a really fun and enjoyable Sci-Fi thriller. It stars Matt Damon as the man stuck on Mars after a terrible Ares mission. This movie is definite must see and you would probably never want it to end.
Mark Whatney (Damon), is left on Mars after a bad storm and a awful mission named Ares 3. His crew is certain of his death and reports it to NASA, the lead of the mission. It turns out that he really is alive, and he is making a living. The rest of the movie is about how he gets back home.
Now, let me say that this movie is around two and half hours. It's usually really hard to keep people engaged the whole time, but this movie does it perfectly. It has its own blend of science, comedy, and action, at the same time developing the plot. The screenplay and performances are amazing, and You can definitely say that Chiwetel is one of the best actors of our time. Not saying the pat Matt Damon isn't good, but his character is very plain and ordinary, even though he pulls of the smart-look very well and is mostly taken care of with CGI. The way that this movie is put together, edited, and executed is just fantastic, and it's really really engaging. The soundtrack in this movie is just amazing and keeps you very satisfied throughout the whole movie.
This movie albeit is very predictable and boring at some times, which is OK, considering that it is really long. Matt's humor really works well, and is absolutely spectacular when you need to relieve tension. This movie has a strong message that is given in a different and very amazing way. They show you survival, tension, and love. It is hard to understand at times, but you have to understand that Hollywood tried its best to make it super simple and understandable. Al of the science references were neat, and all the characters looked and behaved very sharp, except for Kate Mara who just struggled. Jeff Daniels in this movie doesn't really fit as the director of NASA and always reminds me of "Dumb and Dumber". Seeing him looks like a joke, and doesn't really fit the serious role at times.
The characterization and description for each character is very well done. You would really really care about the characters and worry about them, as if you were really dragged in to the movie. The CG is mind-blowing, even if there is a short resemblance to the Grand Canyon at many places. The shooting, setting, and character time placement is very well done and is surely not a miss.
After going through two-years of development hell, this movie definitely lives up to the hype and does justice. Ridley Scott, is the man for this movie even though he isn't as consistent. When seeing movies like "Exodus", you'll probably lose touch for him. But this movie is smart, executed well, sharp, and has some really really good performances. Like I said, it's really really hard to engage people in a movie for two and half hours, but this movie does that perfectly. "The Martian" should not be a miss, and is a visual- popcorn thriller treat for the audiences.

Jurassic World (2015)
With spectacular visuals and cast, Jurassic World is not as great as it's creator, but it stands out in it's own way as a visual thriller treat.
JURASSIC WORLD-REVIEW 6/17/15
Cast:Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, and Vincent D'Onforio
Release Date:6/12/15(2015)
Director:Colin Trevorrow
Producer:Universal Studios
Genre:Sci-Fi/Thriller
Rated:PG-13
The fourth installment in the famous franchise is big and large with more teeth. Jurassic World boasts a great cast with visuals and is directed by Colin Trevorrow, the director of the critically acclaimed movie, "Safety Not Guaranteed". This movie acts out the extremely predictable creation of magnum opus Jurassic World envisioned by John Hammond and the genetic splice of two dinosaurs named "Indominous Rex". The lack of emotion, drama, and care for characters are made up with spectacular visuals. This movie may not have the best plot or characterization, but it surely has enough teeth and fun to satisfy moviegoers. The outcome? The outcome is a perfect summer blockbuster movie that is ready to tear up the box office.
Twenty-two years later, after the severe events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar is finally a fully functional theme park that attracts tons of visitors each day. But since the revival of T-Rex's and Pterenadon's are very old, the Director,(Bryce Dallas Howard) and the park's engineers decide to spice things up by making a genetically modified hybrid dino.
Not having learnt anything at all from the last three Jurassic movies, the main characters still end up being part of the poorly written and pictured cat and mouse chase which is basically showcased in every Jurassic movie except the first one. As Bryce Dallas Howard struggles to get control of her truant nephews, Velociraptor trainer Chris Pratt, prevents his notorious security chief,(Vincent D' Onforio), from using the trained dinosaurs as weapons in case of emergency.
Exiting the pre-development hell after 10 years, this beast of a film knits together the various pieces cooked up by Steven Spielberg himself, and many others. This disaster of a plot has a big enough hole for all the Avengers to jump right into another universe. This much troubled plot is also written by Colin Trevorrow's long lasting partners Derek Conelly and Rick Jaffa the writer of the amazing "Planet Of the Apes". One of the biggest holes is the concept itself. After the severe aftermath of Jurassic Park, how can Jurassic World even be made?
Adding up to the weak plot, the TWO lost children, giant killing dinosaur, and the zero parent material concept has been repeated multitudinous times right from the Michael Crichton time. Even though Chris Pratt keeps the movie light at some points with his uneven comedy, the plot still struggles. Unlike every Steven Spielberg movie, this movie is just unable to make you care for the characters. Even though there is a some drama and emotion during the two hour run-time, there isn't enough chemistry between the characters. By the climax of the movie, you still wouldn't care about the welfare of any of the other characters. This movie wants to do a lot, but ends up doing very well in only a few things. The characterization part of the story is actually the weakest point of the film.
Even though Jurassic World comes short in it's storytelling and characterization, watching it in theaters on an IMAX screen with a bag of popcorn isn't such a bad idea. The dinosaur menagerie definitely gives you enough popcorn thrills for you to be seated on the edge. But this movie lacks to some extent the nail-biting experience you probably had when you watched the original Jurassic Park. Colin is able to bring his whole dinosaur crew into action, despite it attempt for love is soulless. It's ambitious but ultimately lacks soul. Is it any good? Yes, it can be watched as extremely fun roller-coaster dinosaur ride. The Visuals, the IMAX, and the popcorn should be enough to sell yourself.
Spectre (2015)
A flawed Bond with stellar performances, weak chemistry and subplot, with mind-blowing action. "Spectre" is a fun and entertaining action thriller in it own way.
SPECTRE- REVIEW
Cast: Daniel Craig, Lea Seydoux, Christoph Waltz, Dave Bautista, and Ralph Fiennes
Produced by: Eon Productions
Directed by: Sam Mendes
Rated: PG-13
"Spectre" is the twenty-fourth Bond film in the series and is directed by Sam Mendes, also director of "Skyfall" and others. Even though Sam hasn't quite hit the mark of Skyfall with this movie, it's still very fast paced and enjoyable and is a definitely a watch for those bond fans. This is as personal Bond can get.
Spectre leads off shortly after Skyfall, as Bond is sent to Mexico and Rome by a cryptic message from the late M. He meets and kills an infamous criminal, and shortly meets his grieving wife, while finding about an organization named Spectre. The rest of the plot explains the villains and the mysterious Blofeld (Oberhauser), and how Bond is connected to all of them.
The movie starts off with a bang with a beautifully shot opening scene, with cinematography at it's best. Even though Daniel had mentioned the multiple uses of CG, it was breathtaking and you couldn't have told the difference. The opening scene is simply bizarre and deserves a standing ovation, which it did. The opening scene is a massive improvement from Skyfall, which didn't hit the jack-spot with it's action. Shortly, the villains are introduced, and their intros are just spectacular even if they weren't used to the max. The secondary villain was barely used in this movie and Bautista shows up in three scenes, scenes that the movie didn't really need. Having Bautista in this movie had no affect in the plot, and basically had a muscular henchmen feeling. Christoph Waltz on the other hand, was phenomenal in the scenes he appeared in and drew the real emotion in the movie. Lea Seydoux was very good in this movie, and had that bad ass feel in the story, that most Bond films usually don't have. And last off, Daniel. Oh lovely Daniel. They used him so well, his role was reprised very well, and was an amazing send off. This movie neatly ties back all other Craig Bond's, and spectacularly handles the weight and feeling. This movie realizes what quantity of action a Bond movie needs for it to be a Bond movie. The train fight scene is by far the best fight I have seen in Hollywood cinema.
This movie mainly suffers from the flawed plot. There was a subplot in the movie that really took away the whole action feeling at times, and really took off the focus of the real story. While moving in tension, the unnecessary plot kicks in and really draws the feeling in it. All of Christoph Waltz's work is drawn away in waste in those few solitary sub-plot moments, and the sub-plot resembled Rogue Nation's entire plot and how Q and Moneypenny are able to stop the double-O program from being "prehistoric". It gives the movie a dead-feeling that you wouldn't really want in a Bond movie. Sam Mendes tries to move the movie to a personal side of Bond, and gets as close as he possibly can. This movie admittedly relies on the Bond formula, and miserably fails when it comes to the tech and cars that everyone loves with Bond.
Lea Seydoux and Bond have this unfelt chemistry in this movie you wouldn't really feel. The comments and gestures they exchange don't really show a connection and towards the end a relationship that you wouldn't really buy or understand. This movie doesn't give enough time to explain the characters, and the real bonding between them. Their chemistry and relationship still show up as a question mark in my head, and a feeling that this movie would have been better off without a love, and isn't Bond's whole theme " Trust No One" after Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale?
The soundtrack in this movie is simply phenomenal, and really draws you in to the story (minus the subplot time). Even though the Bond music is used in the many of the soundtrack pieces, but never have I ever heard such rich music in a Bond movie. The music is captivating and takes the you into the real personality of Bond you probably haven't seen before.
Ultimately, this Bond film lacks the real emotion it really deserves. The story tries to prove many things, while doing few. One of the villains are a complete waste, and a subplot that isn't necessary are really the problems at stake right now. You might feel that Bautista could have been used more to make impact on the story, and that the story was more deep. My main issues lie on the characterization, subplot, and storytelling. Other than that, this movie is super action packed, and should not be a miss for those Bond fans. This is nowhere as good as Casino Royale or Skyfall, but tons better than the dark age of Bond, "Quantum Of Solace". More appealing to kids and young adults in my opinion. Grab your popcorn and enjoy this super action-packed awesome Bond movie.
Rating: ****.2 because expecting too much from a supreme action packed Bond movie is ridiculous.
Verdict: A flawed Bond with stellar performances, weak chemistry and subplot, with mind-blowing action. "Spectre" is a fun and entertaining action thriller in it own way.
