I Am Not a Serial Killer (2016)
Watch!
For a small production i think this works quite ok. Lloyd and Max Records were great. I think the small town premise worked greatly as usually in these type of films. There could have been more interaction between the main characters after they know whos who. Also the characters around the main ones dont really have any input which i think could have been used better. More character depth needed. Could have built up the monster/alien theme more and maybe some occaisional camera trickery and the monster could have been scarier.
My search says Max hasnt done any film work since this one which is a shame.
Keeper of the Ashes: The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders (2022)
As sad as they come
Im writing about the doc not the events that are horrible and i wish the families have had their peace.
So about how the doc was made. Its a quite normal in style but for some reason it feels a lack of focus sometimes. I wouldnt have included the current serriff from the start and would have just focused on the people that were involved from the beginning. And about Kristin Chenoweth. Her intentions might have been good but it does just feel like an ad for her. Her "I almost got killed" talk doesnt bring a good Light of her. And the Girl in the end sang better than her... Maybe She'll get a career out of this.
Barbarian (2022)
Yep its a 6
Barbarian... the plot you can read for yourself so not gonna talk about that! This film had a lot of opportunities to be better. The uncomfortable beginning sets a solid basis for the film. The storyline was good although would have been nice to be explained somehow how the double booking happens. The actors do a solid job allaround. On first viewing camera work seems good, had good intensity in parts where it needed.
Theres a good question about finding certain people safe and others a threat. If at least some of the plotholes would have been cleared, this could have been a 7. Maybe explaining the owners story would have helped.
Monster Hunter (2020)
Not great but hey! Cool monsters !
6 stars! Entertaining when your too lazy to think about anything Aka Have a hangover .
Yep sure Jovovich and her hobby have made another monster movie but theyre not zombies this time! Not much plot but alot of action. Could have had bit of build up in the beginning with Milla's soldier buddies and the mission, could have been utilised and maybe make the movie better. And at first it seemed wierd that tony Jaa referred to the monsters as Diablos but at least good old hellboy actor Perlman tells with perfect English that there have been people before.
The visuals are allright . The monsters look like monsters and had some differences with each one.
Small SPOILER
Sure did kill those team members quickly out of the movie. 🤣
6 Souls (2010)
Potential but nah.
Im not gonna tell about the plot since you can read it for yourself. Moore did what she could with the tools she was given. Meyers not so good, the difference is not big enough(you will know what i mean if you watch). I think if the story would have been told in a different angle this could have been good. Unfortunetly this way it lacks the chills the story could have given. Simply there are some stupid turns. I did like the little melody Adam wrote, should have been used maybe a bit more. And that spooky granny was creepy but again not used to perfection or even to a good level.
5 stars because it was watchable allthou dissapointing.
The Bear (2022)
The letter
This show... Wow! Some might not understand how much this is about love and that will be the reason you might not like it. The main characters have a great deal of loss on different perspectives and relationships but the restaurant and the grief connects them ,even thou they might not want To. Holding To the past and having an urgency to keep things alive isnt a working method ,until you let yourself experience the pain of grief. Top notch performances all around👍
The Man from Toronto (2022)
The story from all buddyactioncomedies
So Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson team up for a buddyactioncomedy... Had nothing New storywise. Predictable offcourse. Kevin Hart's quirky lines didnt really land at any point. Harrelson as a hitman was fun to see,if it only had been in a good movie. Cant say i would recommend To anyone. I was suprised that i watched the hole thing and thats why 5/10.
Dual (2022)
Not bad but doesnt quite get there
Gillan was good dancing around the real and copy of her character but To me the story falls flat. Even thou the ending leaves you Wonder In good style there could have been more twists along the road To the end. Aaron Paul's coach character just seemed a bit too ole dimensional. Also that training battle they had was a bit cringy.
The Invitation (2015)
Wow!
This will hold you in its grip! I had not seen a trailer for the film but was expecting a twisty film from reviews and such. The violins bring a great tense feeling. All around great acting. You slowly start to doubt what youre seeing and that really gives a bump in the head ;) and there really are thousands of them...creepyy !
The Discovery (2017)
Worth a watch
Start of the movie gives a great view on the state that world could become if a "discovery" would be made. Maybe could have show the effects in the world (one big city wouldve been enough)just a little more, but i do dig the location the film does take. The "Not a cult"crew could have been done something with, seemed like theyre just chillin with a scientist that occaisionally pops by to say "Not a cult and i am btw honest to you" Also there couldve been more or at least differently shown deja-vu takes. Also the ending is bit rushed and predictable. Rooney Mara and Redford are great in this. Redford's semi-harsh take on the suicides is perfect for the character and he does it well. Rooney is also a very interesting character that you want to know more of. Would recommend!
