The Blues Brothers (1980)
A Great American Classic
A Great American Classic and I always love watching this film and have watched it so many time. It is a fresh everytime and that is what makes it unique classic movie. Dan Aykroyd is amazing in this and very stylish keep the audience hooked and you feel like you want to see him more and more with his witty lines and acts. Very simple plot and very hilarious one too. The crazy car chases ...the crazy concerts they hold and song choices of Blues are just the nest of best. Lovely light comedy musical movie of its time and still holds great value and regard in this particular genre. A classic work of art which will never fade. Love.
P-Valley (2020)
Emotional...classy...explicit...genuine and great sound track
Just randomly stumbled on this series and could not stop watching. As the summary says.... the show is Emotional...classy...explicit...genuine and great sound track...this has everything to watch for and good action too. A great portrayal of daily life of extra ordinary people who have seen life difficulties too closely. Hats off to cast and crew. Character biulding is great and grows into the season and give unforgettable performances. New powerful characters also get introduced over time and complemement the series. All give great performance to the core. Leaves an imprint. Amazing show. Thanks.
The Batman (2022)
Next level. Can ne watched twice.
Starts slow and subtle and then picks up pace as it progresses....focus remains on villains and the batman, which is great to stay focued on main characters. Excellent score and action sequences.
Has more of the comic feel which might let you think is the print ok? But that's how it is.
Ending could have been better with more climax action sequence so the viewers could have had more closure. As most fans will compare it with dark night but this is totally new approach amd concept so need to compare and watch it with open mind. Thanks.
No Time to Die (2021)
PG13 Bond Movie-Seriously?
Movie failed to deliver real "Bond" characteristics in the last Daniel Craig Bond episode. Expectations were very high for this film after the last 2 hits with amazing plot, sequence and action but this completely failed to achieve it as being a final Bond film of this Era. And why a final one? Bond is a work of fiction and this was presented as a family drama with kids running around in secret bond missions...seriously? To me it was like watching a bollywood melodramatic family movie with action on the side. And action too with no heart put into...it was very clear. Great hype and great disappointment. Sorry to say. Thanks.
Beckett (2021)
My 1st review of the film & 2nd review of the protagonist.
This is My 1st review of the film & 2nd review of the protagonist.
Starting with the later - man - please someone teach him some acting. The GF / BF scenes are like he is asked to act at gun point, where as Alicia Vik, shows full involvement and genuine acting skills for that relationship.
Direction wise there are flaws here and there but if the acting was any good, it would have helped to enjoy the movie. Greek actors tried their best to failed to make an impression. Sorry guys this tends to bore up and have to tolerate the film, as its part of subscription and one has to bare and see it through. Didn't enjoy and un liked it at the end. Thank you.
The Expanse (2015)
Realistic in not so distant future...
This series is amazing and too Realistic in our generations' distant future...
The imagination is out of the ordinary and portrayal by the film makers is excellent.
As we currently see lot of development and research behind the interplanetary travel, this seasons depictions of how future will look when interplanetary travel will be a norm. And what challenges may be faced by the humanity. Well scripted and directed. A must watch for Sci fi fans. Thank you.
12 Rounds 3: Lockdown (2015)
Armature and weak script.
Apart from obvious disaster movie like script...useless. Looks like they were aiming for a Oscar for most stupid acting and movie script. Watched it till half way and that too by forwarding it. What a waste of time.
Sala samobójców. Hejter (2020)
Very impressive plot, great acting and gripping.
Must watch, Very impressive plot, great acting and gripping. I randomly opted to watch this movie on Netflix last night and to tell you the truth the movie took me by surprise because of complex plot and psyche of the protagonist. Villain is the protagonist and his acting is amazing, his expressions of emptiness and longing for acceptance are out of this world. This actor has amazing future ahead of him, I was a fan instantly. The film has dark side to it due to current right wing, left wing political atmosphere and how fake news are gripping public opinions and leading to disastrous implications via new manipulations on social media, mainly Facebook, which is true and happening currently. I will not say much as words may not do justice to this movie and is really a thrill to watch. Great script, great plot and great acting.
Tenet (2020)
Dialogues and Audio Weak.
Am huge Nolan fan but this movies missed some marks here and there. 1. With complex sotry line one needs clear and to the point dialogues (Not Mumbling) which I found that the protagonist was often doing. Why didn't the final edit catch it?
2. Editing between crucial dialogues seemed very childlike to put it nicely. And editing needs a review....may be a director cut is needed to watch again?
3. I was not impressed by the lead character's performance/acting, after amazing performances of previous lead roles in Nolan movies (Leo/Mathew)...why? Appeared to be fresh actor without any experience.....sad. Here I was disappointed but over all good story which needed all of the above in full perfection. Thank you.
Frontera Verde (2019)
Full Ten Score....A breath of Freshness
This series gets a Full Ten Score from me because it is A breath of Freshness...totally new surreal narrative amd somewhat spiritual, considering how indigenous populations must have gone through during colonial or modernization times or still going through in certain regions. And how close or important nature is to them that they would kill for it...this made me respect such cultures more. Beautifully directed and very drawing towards it....makes you think the supernatural. Amazing and must see.
Van Helsing (2016)
Good start but gets boring...
Good start but gets boring over time and becomes more like "Walking Dead" or its parallel story of another community...etc.. lost interest in the middle of first season.....wonder how other seasons are? Looking at overall ratings on IMDB it doesnt look encouraging so I will pass on other seasons unless someone vouch for them....lol.
Sanyangeui sigan (2020)
Unexpectedly a good movie.
I really liked this movie and just stumbled upon it on netflix while browsing through. What started as stupid, casual and amateurish casino heist take a very serious turn and goes out of control. Strong bind of friendship stay alive throughout but at a heavy price.
Excellent screenplay...good background score....acting is ok ok...but worth a watch if you want to enjoy nice action movie. Thanks.
Queen & Slim (2019)
Very subtle and mellow flick
In summary it is modern day not so mucb bonnie and clyde afro American movie but the unfortunate series of events led such couple in trouble and it their story on the run from the police which are hell bound to deliver justice or revenge. Good music....good acting..and great american land scapes to view through.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
A homage & change of narrative at end of a tragic story
I liked the movie very much, slow and subtle start and mellow too. Movie is a homage to an old is gold era & the ending is a change of narrative of a tragic and true story.
I felt that the QT wanted to showcase and translate the general public sentiments around the tragic death of Sharon Tate and how those nutcase hippies should have met their end instead making them celebrities on news media of time along with the cult of Charles Manson. The real life ending was so sad and tragic but in the movie QT gives a satisfying end so to appreciate life of good people.
Roman J. Israel, Esq. (2017)
Amazing Denzel
Amazing acting by Denzel and Collin Ferrall also looking good in the role. Mellow story line but very impactful due to excellent acting. A must watch
The House That Jack Built (2018)
Expect to be shocked...
Expect to be shocked and cringed due to some harrowing shots, as movie portrays the psychopath's killing spree over 12 years, which the killers seems as an art form. Historical remnants from Greek mythology and Dante's do play a key role side by side with our current society, which is shown as numb as they can be despite killers' bold confessions and outcries in front of many. Eventually he is deemed to hell, where he is walked around by a character, and even from there he wants to escape back to his world and his house of bodies.
About Cherry (2012)
Watched it again....
Watched it again....after few years, as I had forgotten what was the movie really about and how is its relevance in current social dynamics. Same.
Movie is of slow pace and plot sometimes wanders aimlessly. As several other documentaries (this is not a documentary though) on the subject of porn have always shown how young and vulnerable females or males - more females, I presume, come into porn not only because of poor family backgrounds or abusive past, etc. but some by choice too, as depicted in the movie, although main reason portrayed is family issue and lack of income. Movie's main objective is to show that circle of porn continues and people out of the circle feel disgusted from what the main character does, etc....so nothing new overall, just usual saucy scenes every now and then.
Elizabeth Harvest (2018)
A good sci fi flick
Good story, very subtle with limited cast and a great location house. From the start you will feel that something serious is about to happen and as movie progresses, you start getting the shocks, as to how the plot twists over and over again.
Operator (2015)
Disappointment
Whats a Disappointment! I saw the movie because of Ving Rhames, thinking it will be of good action along with other actors. Bad direction, firing shots seem from kids home movie effects. Misha Barton acting was so stiff and expressionless, it was a hopeless disappointment to see good actors career being bad patched on purpose.
Black Earth Rising (2018)
Sensitive and intriguing topic..
Sensitive and intriguing topic and you get hooked on from the first episode. Very vast investigative plot about Rwandan genocide with great thrills and details about the laws across countries, which makes one feel the real complexities and difficulties the survivors, lawyers, etc could come across along with life threatening challenges due to involvement of higher leaderships of western countries and how engrossed they are via businesses or politics in Africa. Heart breaking at time but does justice and give one sense of closure.
House of Cards (2013)
Three Star Rating for Season 6 Only
Three Star Rating for Season 6 Only, as without Kevin Spacey, there was no charisma or life in the show. Even the plot had so many lose ends and story kept jumping from here and there without any proper links or continuation. Only 8 episodes vs. 13 each during previous seasons. Seemed they just wanted to show that they can have a good show who without Kevin Spacey but they failed. I will not go into Kevin Spacey allegations etc. That is out of scope for the review, at least what they could have done is to keep the "Frank" character alive with any new but strong actor e.g. de Niro? As fans equally love de Niro too. Anyway terrible end of the series and Seasons 1 to 5 were great - 10 stars. Thank you.
Cam (2018)
Forget the ending - enjoy the movie
Lot of reviews highlight that ending this or that. I say forget the ending and enjoy the overall "dark and twisted" idea behind this movie - like we enjoy other fantasy flicks. In today's internet world we have experienced our own or friends' Facebook profiles being hacked or stolen, etc. So this movie highlights something of similar nature with a dark commercial twist.
Whatever portrayed may not happen in true reality and it is very close to that reality and as AI and Bot culture is picking update - who know after some years, computer AI and Bot can take over your physical self and project it as its own new identity? It is quiet scary if you think and could happen few years down the line - who knows.
I loved the movie and amazing tense acting by Lola (Madeline Brewer) during her crisis time along with the other performances. She did excellent job in delivering the teen challenges issues, as script was well written and direction was good too.
Don't miss this movies and once again don't worry about the ending, see it and enjoy it as a new freaky idea flick. Thank you.
Wind River (2017)
Pure American Widerness Drama
Pure American wilderness action thriller...reminds one of Revanant in new era of FBI and corporate cover ups. Great locations and Jeremy Renner is a natural actor. Action sequences are great and the native American community portrayal is really close to reality. Not to be missed.
Altered Carbon (2018)
Next Level of Sci Fi
This series has taken the sci fi genre to the next "high" level. The complex story line, which is hard to grasp for some, is just amazing and the imagination behind such plot and with great detail, is just amazing. good that season 2 is also expected and it is really worth watching again, as one cannot experience the immersive detail of this excellent series on one time viewing. A must must see. Thank you.
Kiss Me First (2018)
Can't wait for Season 2.
Limited series and keeps you asking for more. Very mellow start but once you understand what is happening, it grips you and you keep on asking to see more, as the story unfolds. The story line and imagination behind it, is truly very close to reality and it is something that makes you think that probably it is already happening or will be happening very very soon, as game tech is developing so fast. good acting by the lead role "Leila" (Talullah), already a fan, along with other cast members. Great visuals and suspense. I will see it again for sure and please do not miss it and don't believe on low ratings of some. Thank you.
