Frasier: Frasier Has Spokane (2002)
Ending resonates with those going through heartbreak
At first glance, Frasier Has Spokane is a seemingly forgettable episode of the beloved sitcom. Frasier travels to Spokane to replace a long-time favorite radio personality, but he is met with hostility from the locals. In a desperate attempt to generate interest in his show, he asks Roz to call in and fake an on-air conversation.
However, the episode takes a turn when Roz decides to open up about her own recent breakup with Roger. She confesses her fear of being alone and her doubts about whether or not she is capable of love. Frasier listens patiently and offers her words of comfort and reassurance.
This scene is a masterclass in emotional storytelling. It is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, and it perfectly captures the raw emotions that come with a breakup. Peri Gilpin gives a particularly moving performance as Roz, and Kelsey Grammer is equally impressive as Frasier.
The Roz-Frasier call-in scene is the reason why Frasier Has Spokane is such a good episode. It is a powerful and relatable moment that resonates with viewers on a deep level. It also shows the strength of Frasier and Roz's friendship, and it is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are never truly alone.
Ted Lasso: Do the Right-est Thing (2021)
Pretty much every story in this episode was overdone
"Led Tasso" was just dumb, "Boss-*ss B*tch" was cringe, and the Dubai sponsorship boycott seemed very rushed even besides its political messaging. Definitely one of the weaker episodes.
Curb Your Enthusiasm: The TiVo Guy (2007)
If this was any other show, this episode would be downright depressing. But it's MF CURB.
Cheryl splits with Larry, practically all his "friends" side with her and he is automatically uninvited from most get-togethers because everyone "picked Cheryl" over him. She also immediately hits the rebound and is on another guy. But Larry, perhaps as always avoiding confronting his sad emotions, seems to be rather unfazed and even laughs at himself in the episode. I genuinely felt super bad for him at times in this episode. Then I had to remember I was watching Curb-Your-F*****g Enthusiasm. Oh yeah, I choose Larry.
Top Gear: Hammond Races a Jet-Powered Kayak (2006)
The radio bit was hilarious
"I've been driving in my car, listening to Jeremy Claaaarksoooon". 😂
A Teacher: Episode 10 (2020)
Captures gender double standards
In this episode it clearly how depicts how this woman benefits from for the apparent rest of her life and what feminists would call "patriarchy", doing their heads in-- the only reason she is not on the streets homeless is because her male family members take her in, she later gets married to a husband who sees her without judgment like every other woman has that she has encountered in these past couple of episodes, and she lives off of her husband's earnings very comfortably. No male predator could ever get away with this, and by no means should he, but look how a woman is able to.
