Trapped in Silence (1986)
They said then "Kiefer Sutherland would be bigger then his father"
I thought it was pretty good! and I am not saying that because I was there ;) In a small town Wingdale, NY a made for TV movie was being filmed. Using a closed psychiatric center (Harlem Valley Psychiatric center). They were calling for extras so I said what the heck and went down, signed up and was accepted as an extra.
I spent about a week on the set with Kiefer Sutherland and the rest of the cast. This was the first time I ever heard of Kiefer, but I knew his fathers fame (animal house, body snatchers etc...). I hung around with Keifer, he was really a down to earth guy, pulling wheelies on the wheelchairs etc... I made sure I had a photo snapped of me and him! While I was there, many of the people on the set said "Keifer is going to be big star, bigger then his father" Now here it is many years later and they were right! he has become a big star.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007)
I knew one of the victims of the Serial killer in Poughkeepsie
I have not seen the movie yet, I have no idea if its true, but it seems to be at least somewhat based on the serial Killer in Poughkeepsie.
I live close to Poughkeepsie and I knew one of the women who was murdered by the serial killer (Sandy French).
I do know that from what is sounds, the movie sounds grossly exaggerated..maybe Blair which and truth combined?
We will see when it comes out this Spring!
Here is the real story: Kendall Francois was born in the city of Poughkeepsie and grew up on Fulton Street. He attended Arlington High School, where the 6'4" teenager played football on the school team until he graduated in 1989. He joined the Army in 1990 and went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for basic training. In 1993, Kendall attended class at Dutchess County Community College as a liberal arts major. He continued as a student on and off until 1998.
Although he was not working at the time of his arrest, he did have several jobs in the past. Kendall was employed at the Arlington Middle School from 1996-97, which is a few miles from Fulton Avenue, as a school monitor. Some teachers at the school complained about Kendall's behavior, especially toward the female students. He often played with the girls in an inappropriate manner, touching their hair and telling sexual jokes. Although he had a clean record at the Middle School, children had a strange name for Kendall. They called him "Stinky."
During the time span surrounding the disappearances, Kendall Francois lived at home with his mother, father and younger sister, who continue to deny any knowledge of the killings. Many people wondered how the parents could not have known what was going on? Especially Kendall's mother who was employed as a nurse for many years at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie. Surely at least she should have suspected. But it was reported that Kendall had told his parents a family of raccoons had died in the attic and he was having trouble removing the carcasses. This explanation seemed to suffice. In a statement issued through their attorney, the family had this to say: "We find ourselves plagued by unimaginable circumstances. Our youngest son is suspected of committing grave offenses from which his life hangs in the balance. We have virtually lost everything, been dispossessed of our home and cast into the street with only the clothes on our backs
.The family requests that under these extraordinary circumstances, the public and media respect the only two items we have now, our privacy and personal respect".
Epic Movie (2007)
Horrible
I wouldn't recommend this movie to my goldfish...This is coming from an avid comedy lover.. All/Any type of comedies. SO of course I watched with a totally open mind waiting to laugh, Words cannot even describe how bad this movie is... Predictable overdone overused jokes. And thats the best I can say about this movie. I think I may have gotten ONE grin out of the entire movie, it was more of an insult of my intelligence, I was ready to get up and walk out of the theater. Hollywood really needs to think more about entertainment then $$ at the box office. I think we need more Independent films to hit theaters.. real original talent.
Don't waste your money or time on it. Thats my $8.50 (movie Fees)
Scarface (1983)
One of my all-time favorites!
This movie from start to finish is one of the finest all-around movies ever made. There is a perfect blend realism and Hollywood. Al Pachino is great as usual, Michele Phifer's first major role.. Well Done!!! A movie you will watch many times through the years... that is if you like "Pulp Fiction" type of movies. This movie won many awards, the use of the "F" word over one hundred times is one of them LOL.. Very powerful storyline, Strong acting, excellent choice of actors. I own the anniversary DVD, I loved watching the actors commenting on the movie, I learned a lot about the movie and it made me like it even more. Funny to see how it was rated R on the first cut, then he made more cuts, then they would not drop it below an X rating.. so he went with the original cut which was set at an R rating to get it in the theaters. If you have never seen it, rent or buy it. NOT for everyone.
King Kong (2005)
Awesome remake... 3 hour Movie worth watching!
This movie is one of the best re-make films to date that I have seen. It has awesome special effects and a great spin off the original. Acting was great, selection of actors was perfectly done. They gave Kong such emotion it will jerk a tear or two. The kids loved the Dino scenes.
Was a little slow in the first hour out of three, but then kept me involved the rest of the movie. Thats a long time to sit in the theater with 3 children and no intermission... but it kept them interested also.
Summation: Great acting, Great effects, Great story. I only wish they would have let Kong live this time!!!
Can't wait to buy the DVD!!! The kids loved the Dino scenes.
