Bluey (2018)
I'm one of the few
Let me start by saying that I'm Australian, I get the humor, I definitely like kids shows, I'm not a complete jerk but - I don't like Bluey.
I can't stand the hype, I can't stand Bluey herself (Bingo is actually alright by me) and their parents are soft idiots.
Bluey is basically a funny version of Peppa Pig but with a cooler pop culture undertone.
Bluey is a brat. She speaks to people awfully, expects her parents to be at her beck and call and is painful as a whole.
Sure some of the storylines are heart warming as a parent to watch but mostly is just a bag of bratty behavior from a whiney little smelly dog.
Call me jaded all you like but Bluey can rack off.
Thanksgiving (2023)
The perfect slasher!
Everything from beginning to end about this movie is great! Good character development, perfect plot construction, it's set up brilliantly and keeps your attention from start to finish.
Great red herrings and breadcrumbs throughout to keep you guessing. Some funny one liners keep it light and on point with the genre.
The R rating is spot on because with Roth at the helm you don't want to be eating a meal through this movie. You'll cringe and gag multiple times.
Great to see Roth back and killing it - we loved this movie and can't wait for a sequel.
He's absolutely nailed what audiences want from a slasher and with the tradition of thanksgiving behind it, it'll be one to add to the annual viewing lineup.
Haunted Mansion (2023)
JUST LIKE THE RIDE
If you're a Disney parks fan, you'll know the ride all too well and this is amazing to see all the nods to the ride.
The original was fun and childlike but this is the grown up, should have been, first version of the movie.
A very different storyline to the Eddie Murphy movie and an enjoyable one at that.
The ghosts are scarier than the original movie, the storyline albeit good can be a little drawn out at times but it does get there.
I loved it, my kids liked it (my three year old who's a fan of the original did find it a little bit boring at times with a more adult storyline to keep up with but overall enjoyed the whole vibe)
Jamie Lee Curtis didn't do it for me as Madam Leota but we loved all the ride theming amongst the story.
Will watch again and again.
This Is Us (2016)
Outstanding show in every way
We've just finished the series and when I look back it's hard to pick any faults.
The acting, the story continuity, the make up and costuming - astoundingly good.
This isn't the type of show I normally fall in love with, I prefer horror and thriller tv for context but there's something about This Is Us that is so captivating. Wholesome and well thought out, easy to follow time jumps, I'll be really sad to not have it to look forward to.
I had to look up what awards the show had won because it's hard to believe it wouldn't clean up in many categories only to see that it hadn't won as much as I had thought.
Don't let any bad reviews get in the way of you watching a show that will have you feeling all the feels in every single episode. Kudos to all involved with this production over the years.
Magic Mike's Last Dance (2023)
Not magic.
Listen I'm the first to admit, this isn't my preferred genre but attended the movie as I had some spare time and no other option.
The first dance seen needs a porn warning lol. Amazing dancing, made me think the movie might not be too bad but then the plot line hit.
Wtaf? At moments it was like Selma and Channing also didn't understand the direction of the movie. I had secondhand embarrassment for two well known actors who seemed to fumble their way through the story and the weird direction the movie was taking. After what seemed like forever we got to what we thought the movie was about, more dancing but it failed to hit the mark.
If you're a fan of the movies, maybe you'll like it, (I hope you do!) but if it's not your normal thing, definitely skip it - woeful storyline and some pretty cruddy acting.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022)
Slasher dreams come true!
You cannot compare this to the first series and spin off, this one holds its own with a solid story line, gore, adult content and odes to the history of horror in many ways.
I'm looking forward to rewatching it already to catch any clues I missed the first time.
If you're a teen slasher fan, you'll enjoy this!
