Keeper of the Ashes: The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders (2022)
Great, apart from Kristin Chenoweth
I had no idea who Kristin Chenoweth was and came here to find out. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one horrified by her forcing herself into this story. The families of the victims deserve so much better than a Z list "celeb" trying to resurrect her career. Her helium voice is incredibly grating, but the moment she started singing, yes singing, IN A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT MURDERED KIDS, I was done.
If you skip through the adverts for Kristin Chenoweth there's a really interesting story being told, and plenty to keep up interest. It would be greatly improved if it had warnings every time Kristin Chenoweth was about to come on screen and start auditioning for some imagined part, or even better just edit her out of it completely. One of the most insensitive things I've ever seen.
Treadstone (2019)
Tedious fights in fancy locations
It's like the makers thought the only good thing about the Bourne films was the fight scenes, so they've made an entire TV series with just enough plot to get them from one tedious fight scene to the next. The fight scenes themselves are jump-cut to ribbons too so they look incredibly fake, with edits that cross the line so it's hard to tell what's going on. I was quite excited going in to this but it's terrible.
Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street: Mel vs. the Future (2015)
Extremely moving
I think this episode might be the finest writing for a kids TV show that I've ever seen.
