Grey's Anatomy: Support System (2012)
A strong episode
The episode centres around the aftermath of Owens cheating and also Teddy coming to terms with the fact that she is a widow.
Sandra oh absolutely smashed this episode. She was incredible and just impressed me more and more with her acting. I hope that eventually her and owen sort it out.
Teddy and the organisation of the girls night was quite funny. However if I was in Miranda's position I would not have been able to say no to Ben.
Meredith just gets better and better. She is absolutely living up to the legend of her mother. Confident and capable but also with a warmth her mother never possessed. She is my favourite character in this season and has grown so much. Her and Derek are amazing and so cute with zola.
Lastly lexi is so sweet in this episode and Mark is so funny as the stand in chief. Beef with the chief was funny but it is driving me nuts that mark and lexi are still not back together. They belong together.
Grey's Anatomy (2005)
An amazing show, is stealing all of my spare time.
I have had people telling me for years to watch greys anatomy and I'll be honest, I have just kept thinking no thanks. Another medical show? I think I'll keep scrolling and watch something decent. Wow, was I wrong.
I have only been watching a few weeks and it has taken over my life. Any spare minute I get is devoted to this show and already I am on series 8.
This show has me invested in a way that is very rare. You genuinely care and root for the characters and it writes characters in a way that can make you love them after 20 mins of an episode. That's not to say that they ate not flawed though. I have gone back and forth on loving Alex and hating Alex more times than I can count.
This show also has the ability to turn you inside out. Never before have I cried so much. When Denny died I texted my friend to tell her how it destroyed me. Her response? Just you wait.
The character development and plot lines are exciting and engrossing and sometimes maddening but I absolutely love this show and it's characters. I am so obsessed with it that I cannot stop watching. I will have to slow down though because I think I will be quite lost when it's finished.
My fave episodes so far:
The train crash where the two people get impaled together.
The shooting episodes in the hospital
The bomb in the guys abdomen episode
The one where George dies
Best relationships in the series so far:
Lexie and mark
Torres and Arizona
Miranda and Ben.
Best Friendships
Mark and Torres
Miranda and derek shepherd
Meredith and Cristina.
Wreck (2022)
Enjoyable series
Really enjoyed this. Had a bit of a scream queens meets squid game vibe for me.
From the very first few moments it had me hooked. The characters were well written and you actually genuinely cared if they survived or not.
The plot was interesting and didn't feel like it dragged or was too slow paced. The villain in the costume at the beginning was really creepy.
The ending could have been better and did feel a little rushed but was good, however it did feel a little bit like it was trying to be squid game and was a little derivative of Netflix shows that have been popular in the last year. That was clearly the brief given to the writers. That being said, I enjoyed it and felt like I had not wasted my time in the slightest.
Shark Night 3D (2011)
Unfairly judged.
I will start by saying that I am a huge shark fan and have seen most shark films out there. I will watch genuinely terrible shark movies including the likes of Jurassic shark and three headed shark attack.
The problem with any reviews of any shark movies is that they are always compared to Jaws. Jaws is my favourite movie of all time and is an absolute masterpiece and to be compared to it seems unfair and also means you set any other movie in the genre up to fail from the start.
Shark night 3D is no jaws. That's for sure! But what most people seem to fail to see is that it is not trying to be. I enjoyed shark night 3D for a few different reasons and none of them is that it is trying to be jaws, because it most certainly isn't.
First of all what it does very well is that it introduces different sharks into the film. Most films have a great white or a bull shark or a hammerhead. This one has all 3 and has cookie cutter sharks too.
It has a decent cast, an ok plot and a set of villains that are frightening and unsettling. It's setting is interesting and the scenes although not very bloody are well shot and tense.
I think give it a shot but be aware that it is no masterpiece, however it is an enjoyable way to spend an evening.
Red Rose (2022)
A fair attempt at YA horror
My husband and I enjoyed this. There was a fairly interesting premise and some good characters however like with a lot of series nowadays are stretched into too many episodes. The 8 could have been condensed to 5 or 6 and then it would have been greatly improved. The episode which seems to just be about getting their exam results was not great.
The first two and last two were decent. The others dragged a bit.
We did feel that the acting was good and they did feel like genuine teenagers and it felt authentic that they were from Bolton and wasn't just like every other teen drama that seems to be based in london.
The characters also had a great bond and each one was distinct and interesting.
An ok way to pass the time, not life changing but also doesn't deserve the incredibly harsh reviews. Could 2 hours have been cut out of it though? Yes absolutely.
