Dreamland (2019)
This movie is gold and deserves an award
Just watched "Dreamland" with my boyfriend and we were totally captured by this movie's magic. This was a stellar drama/romance that will leave you taken in the most powerful way. I also appreciated the movie's country western charm and the ambivalent feelings it gives you with regards to the movie's main characters. Such a win and deserving of an award. Between this and the movie "Let Him Go," Hollywood is surprisingly on a roll and during a pandemic, albeit the tail end of this pandemic now that we have a vaccine. They must have been making this movie during the height of the pandemic in 20/20.
Let Him Go (2020)
Multi-genre brilliance that keeps engaged and fueled
Not often I review movies but wanted to here. Let Him Go was a smash hit in every sense of the phrase. Stellar performance by It's rare a movie strikes me enough to cry, especially as a male, but this movie did in poignant fashion. It managed to satisfy my insatiable ardor for suspense while adding the endearing and intimate elements of a family movie and the depth and emotion of a drama. So many genres intertwined and merged into one made for a stellar presentation. The fact that my boyfriend who usually falls asleep during movies remained awake the whole way through this movie and actively commentating is another proof in the pudding this was a great. Getting past my love for the movie, I fell in love with the characters. All the protagonists were certainly foolhardy and injudicious as much of the chaos could have very easily been avoided if they had a sense of caution and interdependency about them. Let Him Go better deserves an award. Well done!
Virgin River (2019)
Great show but if these characters were real... yikes
Love the show. Here are my thoughts on all the characters: Mel is such a brat to Hope. I think Hope is sweet, spirited and fun loving. I just don't get Mel's bratty attitude towards her. Yea, Hope didn't have the cabin looking nice at the outset of the series. Get over it. Hope has defended Mel against all the characters and Mel remains a bear.
And now Jack is blaming Hope for his love triangle problems all because Hope told Mel. That didn't change anything, her telling Mel so why is he kicking up a fuss. I mean, blaming Hope because he has two babies on the way and caught in between two women is the enth degree preposterous. Hope forever defends Mel against doc, charmaign and yet hope is still a brat to Hope.
I am not quite sure of why Jack is viewed by characters and fans alike as a hunk in this series. He has a scruffy, unkempt, graying beard, looks like he just woke up in the morning and appears haggard, worn and withered away in his every scene. His young bartender who has trouble finding women is the study one or Preacher.
Also, I used to believe Doc was grumpy and scalding towards Mel, but the more I watch the way she treats Hope, the more I realize he just doesn't stand for her bratty attitude like Hope does, neither him nor Connie.
Also, I think Charmaigne has the right to feel some type of way about Mel swooping in out of nowhere and Jack practically ready for marriage at a moment's notice and her engaging it at ever interval. At the end of the day, Jack shouldn't be aimlessly sleeping around with a woman repeatedly unless he is sure it's a girl he wants to be with for the long haul. Engaging in that for 2 years and thinking a girl won't catch feelings is dope face, then all Mel has to do is show her face and he's smitten. Jack is a shallow piece of crap.
Then the nerve of Jack to try to blame shifting his love triangle woes onto Hope just because she told Mel of his mess before he did. Number one, take care of your kids. Number two, Mel is a woman your behinds hardly knows so get over it. Jack is piece of doodling himself like Mel.
And Preacher... albeit gorgeous... a fool screwing up his life by thrusting himself into Paige's ex husband drama, a woman I guess he will now never even see again.
Lastly, one part of this show I don't care for and the reason I give it 9 stars is the far fetched drug gang storyline which in real life the cops would have put the kibosh on and arrested them all for, following the way they held up Mel and Jack. Way too much of a fantastical storyline there.
Hope sure is ditzy encouraging a man who cheated on her to go out with a beautiful woman. Connie's granddaughter needs to take her tramp head back to where she came from.

Anger, bores and pointlessness
Horrible. I want my 2 hours (or however long this movie was) of my life back. I kept thinking the whole way through this borefest "Momentum is about to pick up and things must start gettinh suspenseful and start making sense right here since I'm this far now" but that never happened. By the time I was half the way in, I said something's got to start happening now with only half the movie left, nothing. Said the same thing when there was only 10 mins left. I thought it be one of those movies where it finally makes sense in the end after the borefest and it's like a big twist ending at least redeeming itself in that way for a worthless movie, nope, not even that. If you like movies about characters with anger management problems like our main character and like to see a person who clearly has unexplained personal demons and anger management without any real story or plot then I invite you to waste your time with this foolery.
