It Happened One Night (1934)
It's been 85 years since this movie released. 85 years later it's stood the trial of time. 85 years later, people still make movies like this. If you like romantic comedies, then do yourself a favor watch this one. It was perfect in every way a rom-com could be. The acting, the direction, the dialogues, it was all splendid. It's the type of movie where you just watch it. Don't overthink it, don't over analyze and just sit back and enjoy the show.
Paraísos Artificiais (2012)
Lack of words
This movie is going to be a hard one for me to review. Looking at the rating you can see it's probably not my favorite but this movie has a spot in my 're-watchable' folder.
There's a bit of everything in this movie, a bit of good and a bit of bad. Some might find the story really predictable, in fact I found it a bit predictable but what sold me was the Characters and their acting along with the direction and the editing. The intertwined timelines and the direction of the story was really nice to see. I liked the character development, kept me drawn in till the end. The editing was really nice too, some beautiful colors and scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. If you've got a slow evening then I don't see why you won't enjoy it too.
Venom (2018)
A good flick.
I gave this movie a 5 because I thought it was fair to do so, by no means is it a bad 5, it's a good 5. It's entertaining. To be completely honest I started to feel the plot wasn't good enough. It's has the basic run of the mill plot and I was starting to lose interest in it. It changed when they properly introduced venom. That's when things started to get funny. The comedic part of this film distracted me from the mediocre plot. So if you're bored and just want to watch an entertaining movie. Go ahead. Great graphics. Amazing acting (It's Tom Hardy after all).
Outlaws and Angels (2016)
A bad pizza.
Now you might wonder why I'm calling it a bad pizza, that's because no matter how bad a pizza might be, I'll always take a slice. That's what I did with this movie. Now the slice might not be good but hey at least I GOT a slice..
Now applying my Pizza philosophy here:
The 'slice' being, it's a damn good story. A twisted western. Loved every part of the story. Hats off to the writer and the person that came up with the idea. I'll give credit to JT Mollner there.
Now about the pizza:
The director was absolutely horrible. The weird zooms. what the heck was that. Completely unnecessary. The editing had it's flaws too, picked out some mistakes as well but assuming that the editors had to work with what the director gave them, I don't blame 'em. The acting was mediocre at it's best. The only actors that stood out as actually decent was the female lead Flo (Francesca Eastwood) and her mother, Ada (Teri Polo). Rest all were mediocre. And finally, Luke Wilson. How the hell did this guy become an actor??! He was horrible the first time I saw him in Idiocracy (2006) Although I thought that movie had potential. His southern accent (I assume) sounds like a HORRIBLE impression of Owen Wilson. All he had to do was say 'Wooow'. Honestly I could go on ranting about this movie, the unnecessary scenes, amateur camera work. Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you do a bad job. You can find people who have lower budget make YouTube videos a millions times better with better actors.
Should you order the pizza in the first place?
If you got time to kill and have nothing better to do, and I mean absolutely nothing, then go for it sure, watch it. BUT if you're looking for something entertaining and you don't watch a lot of movies then I'd skip it
Redistributors (2016)
A low 2/10
I'm going to keep this review short. The movie entirely is not that good. The actors aren't good. I feel they were a let down. The story has a potential to be something really good. The only thing that stood out was the directing. It was actually pretty good and I can see some good potential in the director. Maybe over the years we could see an actual good movie from the director. Some parts of the film were lazy and sleazy. At one point I even saw the reflection of the camera man on a car window. It was pretty clearly visible. In all honesty I wouldn't recommend watching movie.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
All over the place.
The only reason I give it a 7 is because is Star Wars and it will always have a soft spot in my heart. If it was something else I would have rated it much lower. The story was all over the place. Literally. It felt like I was watching a TV show where all the episodes were compiled into one part. The action was fine. Some good scenes and it seemed they tried to bank in on nostalgia too much. I understand it worked in the first movie and they did it properly in 'The Force Awakens' but it doesn't work so well here. The story for the characters felt out of place. The only thing I'm excited for after this movie is the next part which hopefully, they would do it right and have better characters and more action and a fresh story. The rating I gave for this movie would have gone WAAAAAY up if Rey actually joins the dark side. That would have been a really good twist.
The Mummy (2017)
Decent at best.
(May or may not have spoilers considering how you look at it) Now let's get this straight, this movie is NOT thaat good. It's nothing compared to the original mummy movie. It lacks the feeling of mystery and darkness. Watching the first mummy movie actually had me creeped out when I first saw it, but considering I was little kid I was creeped out by a lot of things. But I do know that the first one was mysterious and also, badass.(Brendan Fraser was the sh!t) But considering that this is not an actual reboot, we owe to the film maker to consider this as a separate movie and not compare it to the previous version.(Although I recall a little book from a certain movie in one scene *wink wink*) The jokes in the movie were actually funny so a plus point for that. The action was fine, another point (or half a point). Story? Ehhh, it was fine for what it's worth. Acting? What you'd expect from the cast. Good and professional. Overall, If you're looking for a movie for pure entertainment value this has it all. But if you're a movie fanatic like me. It's fine to watch but not that impressive.
Aftermath (2017)
An unexpected performance
Aftermath. When I sat down to see this movie, I did so without any expectations. To be completely honest, I thought this was another action movie (The title and the poster is to blame here). I knew that Arnold was going to be starring. I had no idea about the plot. That being said, this movie is one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven't seen much of Arnold's films other than The Terminator and some other one or two action flicks but his performance in this surprised me. It showed me a side of his acting skill set that I haven't seen before. It was a very unexpected but pleasant experience. The plot and the writing was overall very good. The direction too was fitting for a movie of this intensity and the other actors did very well too. I have to say Scoot McNairy (Jake) did a very good job. Kudos to him. Overall this was and is a very good little movie. I would highly recommend it for a nice evening watch.
