All Round to Mrs. Brown's (2017)
Time to have a holiday and refresh Brendan
I have every respect for Brendan O' Caroll and his comedic genius of the Mrs Browns Franchise. This however has hits and misses of it but mostly misses. The thing I find most annoying is that Mrs Brown has to be present in every segment it gets too much. I would love to see the development of the other characters like Buster and Dermott, Winnie and Grandpa and even Cathy to be given their own right of development instead of being kept on a leash. Chef Ali is refreshing but the reggae has lots its appeal. The new Rory i also annoying sorry:(
Big Little Lies (2017)
Big Yank Hijack of a great Aussie book
I am so dissapopinted that Liane Moriarty let the yanks hijack her book and turn it into a very sensationalised only the yanks could love drama. I realise that she is mentioned as a producer. Must have been good money hey Lianne?
It is a stellar cast however I am not and never have been a fan of Reece Witherspoon.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
Dissapointed but loved the beasts and the movie special effects
My thoughts are pretty much summed up in the lower star ratings here. The story line was very lacking and all over the place in continuity. Eddie Redmayne is however still great as the foppish awkward Newt, just love him! If you are a HP fan you have to see it. However to me as a fan it was dissapointing.
The Durrells (2016)
So refreshing
It has taken me longer than most to start to view this series... and yes I read the books in my younger life. No its not a true dedication of Gerald Durell's books but by crikey the writers of this series have given them a wonderful lease of life. Accolades to you and to the choice of actors. Love love love them! Whoever is in charge of the animals, they are a major and most integral part of this series.YOU deserve the best awards for this ever.(If there are any:)) Thanks to you all .
Maudie (2016)
WOW and WOW!
Most of the sentiments I feel about this film are already written in the many reviews here, so will not repeat. A great film, great cinematography and superb acting. In my you must watch this list.
Picnic at Hanging Rock (2018)
Not watching anymore
I waited with anticipation to this production. All the post hype accolades, told me it was a must see. I had to watch the first episode twice, yes twice to understand the intricately but complexing weaved story of its characters.
I m not a fan of the background/ music/score if you can call it any of those. The costuming and photography are outstanding, though I question Mrs Appleyards Sunglasses. Did they actually have sunglasses then?
I am hoping it will all develop a bit more and I can stick with it.
Now 3 Episodes in and I cannot watch it any more. The story line does not flow its all over the shop to follow. Very disappointing.
Swinging Safari (2018)
All over the shop
I grew up in this era and expected to be entertained. Big disappointment. I wanted to walk out on it in the first 5mins but stuck in there at least for a while till I did. The nostalgia of costuming and food, toys and living of the times were spot, not all the music fitted the era. On the whole movie lacked cohesion of a entertaining story. eg what was with the Magda Subanski Sharon like character with the cricket bat????
I would be embarrassed if I was an actor to have this on my resume. I expect much more from Aussie movies.
Jackie (2016)
Could not finish watching
This movie is disappointing in the storyline and acting. The portrayal of Jackie is manic, self consumed and well a little unhinged. I found delivery of her a little monosysIlabic from Natalie Portman. I had to stop watching as it was annoying me. If this is a trueportrayal of the first lady married to JFK I have ended up no admirer of her.
The Neverending Story (1984)
Great Fantasy movie for all ages
I remember watching this as a much younger lass than I am now. At that time it was magical and now in my late 50's it still is. It would have to be the movie that started the incredible journey of fantasy animatrics that everyone expects today. I applaud and admire the folks in every area who were involved in making this film. Thank you! Its one of my again and again watch films. :)
