Ofelas (1987)
Ofelas
Since there's a remake of this film coming soon (from what I've read, it's no good), I thought I'd write a comment on the original.
I am part Saami, and I've lived in the Saami capital, Guovdageaidnu, all my life. This means that I know more about this film than any of you, so listen up! I have watched this film many times, not because it's good, but because I had to since it's a part of school education here.
Knowing the language, I must say the dialog is pretty bad. But that shouldn't bother you guys, since all that needs to sound/ look good to you, is the translation.
The acting is mediocre, but that doesn't necessarily ruin a film.
This film is too close to me, for me to be able to say it's good. But for foreigners this film is all but bad, rather exotic. So I guess there's a good chance you'll like it if you're foreign... so see it!
Casino Royale (2006)
Casino Loyale
I've never been a super bond fan, but still whenever a new bond movie comes out, I have to see it. The last times I've been disappointed over the outcome.
As I entered the movie theater, I wasn't expecting much. I was thinking Casino Royale would be the same old.
As I came out of the of the theater, I had a big smile upon my face that told people around me that I was pleased. The movie had blown me away.
You guys know that feeling one has when just having seen a movie for the first time (that it's the best of its kind)? That feeling usually passes when you see the movie again. But when I saw Casino Royale again, it was as good as the first time.
Daniel Craig has taken the place as my favorite bond - after Roger Moore. His face is cold, he acts like a gentleman and he smirks like one.
Casino Royale has all the action and more (a little bit too much sometimes). You will not be disappointed. Never before have I felt and seen such a complete Bond film. Even the bad guy was BAD! And that makes me happy.
I give it an 8, which means: GO SEE IT!
Korgoth of Barbaria (2006)
Korgoth of Barbaria is in the house
If you like splatter movies and film/ comic violence in general, this is the show for you! Great dialog, great everything. Personally I think this is the very best cartoon show on TV by the creature of Spongebob! And seeing that this is the first episode, I think the best ones are yet to be made. Not that the pilot is bad or anything. I love the fact that Korgoth is a straight forward type: when he get's a chance, he makes love to a chick, when he gets angry, he punches someone down. You just have to love him. So do check out the series for your and the shows sake. This is a hit waiting to be seen by those who do and those who don't like it!
The Da Vinci Code (2006)
The code on how Hollywood screws up movies that could have been good
One day when I was surfing the internet I came upon news about a movie being made after a novel. The Da Vinci Code it was called. Time passed and soon the movie was to have its premiere.
As I and some friends of mine walked through the streets of Sweden (where posters of The Da Vinci Code had found their way onto the sides of the trains) one of my friends bought the book in English. Back in Norway, I found myself reading the book with great passion. The subject discussed in the book was what made the book interesting at all, the events themselves being OK. As I finished the book, I thought for myself: a grand 5 out of 6. That's how good I found the book. The next day I downloaded the movie off the internet and found it...pathetic! What I saw was a movie for children, a National Treasure duplicate. I was saddened by the way the story had changed and turned for the worse. It was like as if the movie had been made in a week: everything happened too fast (no time to breathe) and the end...aw, don't get me started. Take a gum and stretch it. You'll notice that from the point you started stretching the gum, most of the substance still is located - the stretched part being long and thin. That's how the movie is! If you are planning to read the book, by any means do NOT watch the movie first since it will only ruin the essence of the book. In fact, don't watch the movie at all - read the book instead.
1/10 - I'd give it less if I could!
Evil Aliens (2005)
If I could compare this movie with something, it would be dogshit...
First I'd like to say that I am a great fan of splatter movies. My favorite splatter-movie is Braindead (Peter Jackson). The director of Evil Aliens seems to be a splatter-movie fan too since he has copied the following movies: Bad taste, Braindead and Cannibal Holocaust. I like the fact that he is a splatter-movie fan a lot! BUT what does it help when he can't make watchable movies??: the actor suck, the story is crappy, the aliens are too much alien (big eyes, funny suits, silver) and the dialog is shitty as hell... If you compare Bad Taste to this movie, Bad Taste is..what?..some thousand times better. So what I'm trying to say is: Evil Aliens suck's. If you wish to see the movie from which this one is copied, then download or rent Bad Taste since it's worth owning.
