The Tunnel (2011)
A boring rip off of better films.
So the aussies usually make great horror movies but this one is slow to start and never really picks up the pace. This is the second time I've watched this film and found myself bored yet again, the scene where the guy asks the headstrong female journalist if it was all worth it was ripped directly from the Blair witch project and made my toes curl. Add to that un-inspired jump scares which makes this one a complete dud. Nothing is fully explained apart from you're made to buy into the government conspiracy plus the characters are incredibly annoying,I mean the audio/visual tech is called "tangles"I rest my case, avoid this one if u can.
Dead Man's Shoes (2004)
Newsflash,this is how people live!
Every reviewer has entirely missed the point of this film, having grown up on council estates myself and still being a tax paying member of society there's no shame in saying I can relate to this drama.this isn't watching a drama,we are watching real life people, minus the nutcase out for revenge.....
Broil (2020)
Terrible audio!
So have other reveiwers have said this film falls into the annoying trope of suffering from quiet dialogue to screeching sound effects.why filmmakers do this I don't understand,it's not just low budget films that do this either.lackluster acting also.
Luz (2019)
Terrible
What can I say. I love an art movie but this was a non starter of a movie.no hidden meaning,no hidden art, awful acting and a very worn and not very inventive story arc.terrible ending to boot.viewer be warned.
Mother Love (1989)
Skip this if u missed it the first time round
So where do I start, solid acting and was probably great in 89 but the characters are so stuffy, self absorbed and wooden,if like me u grew up in a real family,on a real street,in a real county,in a real.....the stereotypes are endless.women aspire to sleep with or marry rich older men and discussed it freely with their girlfriends.was that ever a topic between people in 1989?oh wait maybe in surrey.frightening!
Banshee Chapter (2013)
And this is only rated 5.5!
How is this rated so low yet garbage like paranormal activity is so much higher.I must of missed something while sitting through years of horror film, this is a genuine creep fest with an impeding sense of doom, where as the latter is cheap jump fare bore.do yourself a favour and go watch a real horror movie.
The Void (2016)
What a film!
As other reviewers have said this is best watched if you know something about creature feature/and or 80's and 90's horror.sure the story is a little lackluster but if your down for some awesome body horror then this is a must watch!epic.
The Mortuary Collection (2019)
Great anthology
I'm a huge fan of horror anthology's done right and there's so many bad ones out there that are badly acted and look cheap, this won't please gorehounds and I would say it has more of a fantasy/fairytale vibe but it's done really well!it looks fantastic and they captured the look of the different eras brilliantly.i would go as far to say this looks better than scary stories to tell in the dark which is a similar movie.its no masters of horror, which I adored and would love to see a reboot of,but it looks great,is well acted and doesn't look cheap.job well done to all involved, and to all the cynics out there,no I'm not affiliated with the film in any way.
Toad Road (2012)
Great, only for people who have been there and done it.
Just to explain, this isn't a horror film,it's a great commentary on heavy drug use and mental illness though.believable characters in believable scenarios.the low reviews are from people who have no understanding of these scenarios.
The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann (2019)
Poor
As far as in depth crime documentary's go this is lame!this didn't feel authentic at all and was definitely not objective. As someone with no strong feelings either way this felt like a witch hunt with no real evidence.bad filmmaking.definately not compelling enough and I'm not surprised the mcCanns lawyers wanted it taken off air.terrible!
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018)
Brilliant
Where to start,Charlie brooker and co have delivered an absolute masterpiece here, great storytelling and the interactive narrative really makes you question your own morality. The story starts with a run of the mill nerd in the 80's and progresses into something much bigger....the plot is very clever and deserves multiple viewing, the interactive stuff actually has the viewer questioning their decisions.such clever film making is scary!shout outs to everyone involved in this project.genius.
