Cockneys vs Zombies (2012)
Great Laughs
What do people want from a Zombie film, l think a lot of negative remarks in some reviews, l like this film and have watched it at least 6 time since l bought it a few weeks ago, and l still laugh, look out for is Dudley Sutton getting all the cockney slang mucked up really funny, Alan White is excellent as is the younger members of the cast, but it great fun spotting all the older actors, Richard Briers, Honor Blackman, and the rest, l like this film it's great fun and give it 10/10.
Survivor (2015)
Very good
What do people want from a film, some of the comments on here are just negative, l found Survivor pretty good, l don't go finding fault with a film if you don't like it turn it off, l think Milla Jovoich did an excellent job, and nice to Pierce Brosnan shaking off the James Bond tag and playing a different type of character, and what a surprise to see Francis De La Tour (Miss Jones from Rising Damp), all in all a good film, plenty of action 7/10.
We Still Kill the Old Way (2014)
Excellent
Well it took me time to recognise Ian Ogilvy, and l only just found out the Charlie was played by Steven Berkoff.
The idea of a load of 70+ years old's taking on a gang youths is great, the film is a gem and l came across it by accident, and l just found out that there is a sequel and l will enjoy that as well, pity James Cosmo won't be in the sequel.
But Kill the Old Way is amazing, there was a load of laughs, and the young actor who played Arron (Danny Hatcher) was really good just a real bad lot, l give it 9/10.
Spyforce (1971)
Excellent
I bought the full 8 disc series some time ago and watched the first episode, l had already seen it in the 1970's, l had seen Jack Thompson in a few Aussie films, but never seen Peter Sumner before, it was gritty, filmed on location, the interaction between Thompson and Sumner was always good, but Redmond Phillips as their boss took no nonsense from either of them, Sumner played a German born character, in the 1st episode called The General Sumner has to impersonate a German, and plays it right down the line, this is the basis of much friction between Thompson and Sumner, in fact in many episodes Thompson's nick name for Sumner is 'Adolf'. All in all a great series, l'm just about to start disc 2, l think l bought the series off Amazon, l give this series a big 10.
High Treason (1951)
Amazing
High Treason is so good l bought the film myself, l must have watched it 20 times in the last few months, it's B&W 1951 but that does not detract from a cracking story, and to watch the Special Branch and MI5 sort it all out is just a dream.
It's not often l give a film 10 points but this is well written, and well acted, Liam Redmond plays Cmdr. Robert Brennan, Andre Morell is his assistant, also Ken Griffiths, Joan Hickson, Geofrey Keen, and an excellent part for Dora Bryan and her kettle....l really do rate this film, it's a real adventure, l can't recommend this
enough, if you like good B&W films, this has got to be the one that you must have or you can watch is on You Tube.
The Secret Agent (2016)
Excellent
I cannot understand the negative reviews about this film, it was excellent, the only actor l had heard of was Toby Jones who played Capt. Mainwaring in the remake of Dad's Army, and l think that's what made it so much better then a film with big start names it felt more authentic, it was sad, dramatic, drama, but bedside anything else it was excellent l give it 9/10
Strike Back: Retribution: Part 1 (2017)
Not good
Where is Phillip Winchester and Sullivan Stapelton, if your going to make another season why get good actors with real characters, from series 2 we followed these two guys all over the world, the stories were tight with no messing about, the action good, the use of weapons made you feel as though they were real agents of Section 20, the fight scenes were excellent.
I looked forward to this series 6, l thought they would bring back Stonebridge & Scott, but no, there are feeble actors, awful dialogue, most of them who use weapons have had little of no training in their use, l'm afraid l will not be watching again.
Dunkirk (2017)
Not good
Dunkirk is not a good film, Christopher Nolan has tried to create a a classic and has failed, he concentrated more on Flying, and the Sea instead of the real battle on the beaches.
There were no character development, no real story, and he messed with history, there were lines of soldiers and the rest of the beaches were clear, only a small part of the film were given over to the 100'a of small boats who helped take of the troops.
I look forward to seeing the new Gary Oldman film about Churchill, who was never mentioned in this film, how can you make a film about Dunkirk and not have Churchill in it, my advice is to watch the 1957 film of the same name, far better with a story, a middle and an ending.
