Redeeming Love (2022)
Great love story
The leading man looks like Luke Bryan. I would have given it 10 stars if Luke was cast as the lead.
Honestly a great movie and I get like I was reading a book.
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
I saw it on Broadway
Yes saw it on Broadway Christmas time 2016 and loved it. I loved the show and loved the story. I'm grateful they put this out to the masses because it's an important story. I'm not going to be a snob and compare the 2 experiences like 'I read the book the movie is terrible'. It would be impossible to compare the 2 experiences.
I have been to the movie theater two times to watch Dear Evan Hansen and it's FANTASTIC they did a great job.
Treat yourself and check it out in a theater.
Zola (2020)
VERY FUN - I enjoyed the story and characters
I heard Zola was based on a Twitter thread and I thought I got to see it. I couldn't imagine how anyone could put it together but they did and I enjoyed it. Yes loved the story or 2 opposite versions of the stories each girl told. I also loved the characters and thought the girls couldn't have played them any better.
It ends quick, very quick and I didn't like it until I remembered this was a Twitter feed and as you know they often just end and leave you hanging - so again the writer was to abruptly end it.
Movie was a lot of fun.
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
SO CHOPPY No scenes over 15 seconds - MADE ME DIZZY
This is a comedy with no humor, no believable characters, no chemistry between characters and the shooting and special effects are better on a Lifetime movie. Most importantly - SO CHOPPY! No scene was more than 15 seconds and HONESTLY most are 3-5 seconds. Guess that's why the characters never develop? IN SHORT: The film made me dizzy like I was on a Whirlybird at a cheap carnival.
Tulsa (2020)
This was terrible! A tent revival at the movies.
Terrible acting! Poor plot! A very 'Jesus' movie that should be played at summer bible study.
The story wouldn't even make a good lifetime movie.
Downhill (2020)
Comedic actors CAN DO a dramatic movie.
This is not a comedy! The trailers didn't advertise this was a comedy. The bad reviews are from closed minded individuals that won't let an actors out of their 'box'.
Great movie about a woman trying to get her family on track to stay together. Slap stick comedy was replaced with very uncomfortable scenes that were important to the story and memorable.
See the movie just to appreciate how talented these costars are.
The Good Liar (2019)
PAY ATTENTION Twists and Turns LOVED IT.
So many twists and turns so you need to pay attention. You can't be on your phone - you must listen and watch. Great actors and of course beautiful English country views. I will see it again before it's out of theater.
Playing with Fire (2019)
Not Home Alone
I saw the cast and thought it might be fun - like Home Alone. Not at all! I like Keegan Key but this is not his best - maybe 'the man' writing his check altered his comedy and quickness he once gave us.
I think Keegan needs to watch his old material and compare it this movie...
Charlie's Angels (2019)
As a woman I'm embarrassed.
Is this the best Hollywood can put together for a all female movie. You either gotta be 'bad assed' like Hustlers or funny like Bridesmaids and this was neither. This movie was TERRIBLE! I can't believe they even finished filming it.
The Goldfinch (2019)
Not The Blindside - unpredictable movie
I read orphan goes to live with wealthy family and thought it would be like the The Blind Side which sounded boring but I gave it a try - SUPER GLAD I DID! The Goldfinch is an amazing unpredictable well written movie which had me interested the entire time. There were no filler scenes like when a song plays and a character stares at the ocean or a sunset. The story constantly added layers to the characters and they would reappear throughout the movie which is refreshing and unusual in today's offerings.
Note: Not dissing The Blindside!
I'm not implying The Blindside was a bad movie, I just thought The Goldfinch was going to be the same story and boy was I wrong.
Overcomer (2019)
This was a Baptist tent revival - not a movie
I thought this was going to be a feel good story like Hoosiers or Rudy and I couldn't have been more wrong. This was a slow boring predictable movie with the worst acting I have ever witnessed. Oh and the Jesus aspect was not just sprinkled in it was crammed right down your throat every 10 minutes. This experience was more like a Baptist tent revival than a motion picture.
Bennett's War (2019)
See the movie and leaving feeling good. :)
An inspirational feel good story about an injured army guy over coming odds. How can you not enjoy a show like that? I've seen worse acting, plots and movies on blockbuster films, so slow your roll on leaving the bad reviews. See the movie and leaving feeling good. :)
Where'd You Go, Bernadette (2019)
This old bird loved it!
Maybe because I'm 54, been married 33 years with children 30, 28, 18 and 16 but I loved this movie! I was thrilled to see an old broad going off the rails and finally living life. This movie is a fantasy for me! Please make more movies like this! It's the current day 9 to 5 that Dolly Parton was in.
Blinded by the Light (2019)
As a Bruce Springsteen fan I'm embarrassed.
Good story with a good message but soooooooo slow and boring! I would have been disappointed if I watched it on Netflix. I honestly can't believe this went to the big screen.
Ready or Not (2019)
A Tarantino ending!
Crazy, suspenseful and weird! The ending is bazaar!
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
I fell asleep
A boring and uneventful movie. I kept waiting for something to happen but it just never took off
The Kitchen (2019)
Bad acting
I can't believe I'm saying this because a couple of the actresses are seasoned but this movie has terrible acting! This movie reminded me of a community theatre performance.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
I don't follow Marvel
I don't watch Marvel and stuff like that. I did see the first Spider-Man and 2 of the first Batman movies so this isn't my world. That being said I loved this movie! It was exciting and never a slow moment. I'm happy I stepped out of my comfort zone and want to watch more movies like this.
Don't Think Twice (2016)
Enjoyed this movie so much!
A great movie about friends bonded by improving their improv skills. Every friend doesn't succeed, the movie is a realistic look at how success and failure can effect the dynamics of this group of friends.
Crawl (2019)
Fun roller coaster
This was a fun straight forward movie that was like being on a roller coaster. You know scary stuff is going to happen and you flinch, laugh and enjoy the ride.
Midsommar (2019)
Mushroom Trip
If you like movies that seem like a giant mushroom trip then get a ticket if not skip it. Weird, freaky and at times grotesque.
Late Night (2019)
Fun time movie!
Don't listen to the dud reviews. I thought Late Night was cute, funny and moved along. There was a group of 8 ladies in the theater that came together and they laughed out loud countless times so I know not just I enjoyed it.
Booksmart (2019)
FUN
I enjoyed the movie! It was quick witted and sometimes surprising which is unexpected in a movie set in high school. The 2 leading actresses were entertaining and very believable that this could be their real lives.
Rocketman (2019)
Loved seeing Elton's story
I knew nothing about Elton John's life and read nothing about the movie so I went in blind. After I figured out this was a musical and not a movie I settled in and enjoyed every minute of the show. I plan on seeing it again.
