Sisu (2022)
If John Carpenter was Finnish
The beauty of the film is the gorgeous, desolate landscape of Finland. Cinematography is amazing. The sheer Determination of a man wanting a simple life then it turns into John Wick, mad Max fury Road, Valhalla rising with a little Sam Peckinpah (Cross of Iron) thrown in. Just a bad decisions made by the bad guys just like every other picture film in this Genre. Pick on the wrong guyand this is what you get movie. Don't overthink it just let the visceral beauty flow over you. Fun if you love practical effects gore and well deserved deaths.
Now I want to see other films by this Director.
Just enjoy.
Gojira: Fainaru uôzu (2004)
The best big G cheese ever made
Come on this is hilarious. Fun from the start. As a human being who has seen every Godzilla movie ever made, this is classic. The movie plays against the history and mocks the worst and best Big G films so good. The cream on the top is MMA fighter Don Frye so good. Just let this film wash over you and enjoy the mayhem. Director Ryuhei Kitamura at his best. Not sure how else to sell this movie to everyone, but if you are a Godzilla/Gojira fan then you should just check all the boxes of pure kaiju maniacs........
Really this is do good/bad/fun that there is room for drinking games and parties based on this movie alone.
Love it.
Invasion (2021)
Is it only me that this reminds me of..
Is it only me that this reminds me of PlayStation's game resistance, and oats studio rakka ?
I do enjoy it so far but I find it very tedious a times. Lack of news coverage in the show. Factions are just tossed in as needed. Great suspense, but fractured storytelling hoping second season gets into the grit of it. Characters make decent choices.
But it's oddly paced and seems like it's still trying to find it's self even after a full ten episode first season.
I'm willing to commit to second season and see if it can start putting its self together.
Acting has been above average and we are kind of starting to get into some good character development. Fingers crossed.
Terrifier 2 (2022)
Over hyped and longer than needed
So it seems Art thinks that the characters are as stupid as I did. Effects are nice but like a makeup school final project. No real good camera work to speak of. The first (and the original appearance of Art were so much better. Nothing will beat those kills. Here just killing for extra gore for gores sake.
I'm disappointed it started so well and never went back to anything gripping. No one could care about these people. Cheap classic troupes made more gross and bloody. Think the Toxic Avenger with no cutaways from the violence. Sorry I would have laughed my ass off in the theatre if I saw it there.
Mad God (2021)
The most beautiful sickness I've ever seen
This is how I dream and wake up wondering if I live here or there.
Im stunned by it simple Beauty and became so immersed in its version of the world we live in.
Sad to see how many people don't see the true sickness of the human world.
Im making this mandatory viewing at my Apparent demise.
Bill Maher: #Adulting (2022)
Wow Ward Cleaver is not funny
Not funny or smart. Not edgy not in touch. Not current not interesting. How does this man have a following?? What is his draw? Who likes this low brow crap ??
Martyrs (2008)
Not anything really
Heard so much about this and maybe that spoiled it for me. Graphic yes and totally predictable. Not shocking at all. The pace is expected and plods to the dull ending. I don't care about these characters because they are sad archetypes that I'm supposed to believe and I don't. Trying to be shocking and failing.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Same old thing
Well I can still find horror movies that mix it up and surprise me this wasn't like that at all. Sifi needs to take a look at its self and come up with better twists. I called everything 5 minutes before it happened through the whole movie.
Try again please.
A Ghost Story (2017)
Simple and beautiful
Love this film. Watched it many times
Watch and make your own choice. So simple and so beautiful.
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
I don't know why
I don't know why I love this film so much.
I've watched 4 times as of this review and I know I'll watch it again. It's beautiful in its simplicity and horrifying in its intent. Love it.
Just give it a chance and let the movie move you not what you think it should do. Then you'll enjoy it as I do.
3 from Hell (2019)
Why you beating this down
I'm sorry... this does start off cheesy? But the last half is great. The shots are amazing and moon Zappa whatever, has some great scenes.
It's like watching Rob Zombie grow in one film.
Because he tends to shot in sequence.
Doomsday (2008)
Wicked fun
It's an homage to the best scenes from your favourite movies. The kill of the mohawk guy set it off for me. It's s pure love letter to post apocalyptic film. Truly brilliant if you are smart enough to get the joke.
Silent Running (1972)
I've never reviewed a movie
I saw this as a kid at my grandparents house a late night movie before the days of Infomercials.
Old school hard Science-fiction. I cried at the end. No action just real life. I believe that is sad story can happen in our life time.
