The Devil You Know (2022)
No Ending
So I sat through the whole thing, watching what should have been a story about a family's struggle to help one son keep his life on track after a history of substance abuse. These men have been raised right, they love each other and their parents. So far, so good. Then we find out that one son was involved in a horrific crime, and the recovering addict waffles between turning him in and lying to the cops. Things get progressively worse till right before the end, where we find that the addict doesn't have the heart to turn his brother in for a twist that I did not see coming (only surprise in the movie). So the guy just gets away with killing 4 people and putting a young man in a coma because "It's my family"?? Is this how the actual case ended?? Because if so, I say shame on everyone involved. But the ending is so vague, we can't really say for certain what happened.
There are so many other good movies I could have been watching instead of this crap. Don't waste your time with it.
The Society (2019)
Another Town Run By Teens
This series follows the same basic plot line as Under the Dome and Pretty Lake. I hoped for more, but was disappointed. It's pretty much just a bunch of high school seniors dropping the f-bomb as many times as possible in each sentence, and having as much sex as they can fit in a day, with a little bit of a story mixed in.
There's every teen cliché possible, from the responsible class president to the dumb jocks to the nerdy but loveable geek. Add an endless supply of alcohol and drugs, and trouble ensues. There's a definite Lord of the Flies vibe going on. Plus, despite the fact that these are supposed to be high school seniors, they all look like (with a couple of exceptions) they're in their mid-twenties.
This one is a hard pass for me. I wish I had invested my time more wisely, like doing laundry.
Cold Zone (2017)
Blatant Ripoff of Day After Tomorrow
SPOILERS!!
I am amazed that this disaster of a movie was ever even released. It's a if a bunch of volunteers got together and decided to remake Day After Tomorrow. Not just the idea of it, but exact scenes and ideas. The flag blowing in the wind and freezing, the frost traveling down halls but being stopped by the fire in the fireplace, a female doctor and nurse having a tearful conversation about one staying behind to help survivors, and more.
If you want to watch a disaster movie, watch DAT or 2012. So much more action, better special effects by far, and just more fun. This is just offensive.
The Invisible Man (2020)
My Invisible Money
This was God-awful. Terrible acting, totally predictable storyline, and way too long. I want my $4.99 back from Netflix.
I saw spot-on recreations of parts of "The Terminator," "Hollow Man," "Sleeping With The Enemy," and more. That's the only reason I gave it a 3; it was funny to suddenly be confronted with the memory of Sarah Connor in a completely different movie.
If you really want a suspense movie, go somewhere else. If you want a wanna-be scary with occasional laughable moments, wait till it's free, then give this POS a watch.
