Cidade de Deus (2002)
One of the rawest, most realistic films that I have ever seen
I just saw this movie, and it is one of the best foreign language films that I think I have ever seen! I have recently been getting into foreign cinema with a lot of the Korean movies (Parasite, Oldboy), and I know there is no comparing them, since they are completely different, this movie holds up with them! It might even be better! It is fantastic, it utilizes the gritty cinematography and the editing to play to the themes of the story very much. It may be one of the best looking and flowing films that I have ever seen. It is really something unique, and I would recommend anyone to watch this.
Joker (2019)
Enjoyed It
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Joker. I liked how it truly showed Arthur Fleck going more and more insane throughout the film. A good example would be him imagining that his next door neighbor is his girlfriend, only to find out later in the film that it was all in his head. Joaquin Phoenix was also amazing in this film and he completely owned the role of the joker.
The only criticism that I have with this film is that it feels like a newly done Taxi Driver and The King Of Comedy crossover. I believe that director of The Hangover, Todd Phillips really enjoys that era of Scorsese. Fair enough, Taxi Driver is an amazing movie and it inspires me. That doesnt mean I am going to make a movie that is almost a copy of Taxi Driver, with only some sequences and characters changed.
Although I have this gripe with the movie, I still really enjoyed it and I thought the sets, cinematography and Joaquin Phoenix were amazing in this. I would recommend seeing this.
2001: A Space Travesty (2000)
This Movie Is A Space Travesty
I just wanted to make that joke because this movie is painfully awful.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Great, But Not For Everyone
Something about this movie makes me think that it will age very well, kind of like Fight Club. I saw it twice, and both times I absolutely loved it. There is something special about this, and it ranks pretty well among my favourite Tarantino films. It definitely isn't a Pulp FIction or an Inglorious Basterds, but something about this movie is just so appealing to me, I can't get enough of it. I would probably rate this as my favourite movie of the year. Saying all of this, I am a huge fan of Tarantino, so it could just be a byas, but I think everyone should give it a watch and see what they think
Willow (1988)
boring
Just a boring movie. It is really dull and tedious, and it feels like it goes on forever.
Osmosis Jones (2001)
a piece of art
Mixing live action and animation, the film follows the misadventures of a zoo worker with an unknown malady he contracted after eating an egg contaminated with simian saliva. The responsibility of eradicating this lethal virus falls to a white blood cell cop and a fussy cold-cure pill.
