Beetlejuice (1988)
One of the worst movies I have ever seen
I am baffled by this film's popularity. The plot is weak as water, the acting is rubbish, the comedy is painfully unfunny and has nothing interesting to say about anything. The characters lack any depth, and are flat stereotypes at best. I was quite frankly bored throughout and kept asking myself when the movie would actually begin or what the point of any of it was. The visual side is, furthermore, annoying to look at. The slight influence by German expressionism is nothing more than an empty quirk present in all of Burton's cinematic disasters. If it weren't for the handful of jokes of a sexual nature, I would have thought this was a bad kid's film that anyone above the age of 12 would have found torturous to behold. Yet it seems it is the type of film that middle class individuals with an average IQ and some probably rather unimaginative degree might enjoy watching because they read it had received good reviews. In fact, I am sure this movie could serve as an excellent test to filter out all the people who are not worth talking to. Life is short, don't waste 90 minutes on this garbage.
Saw X (2023)
Somehow a pretty good movie.
The saw movies aren't know for being great works of art, and most of them could probably be described as exactly the opposite. The only movies that are generally considered "passable" in their own right would be the first two. Yet, somehow, by some miracle, this tenth instalment may be the best one so far. The acting was surprisingly good. The story was interesting, and whilst calling it "deep" might be a stretch, it undoubtably had more depth to it than most main-stream movies do these days. The twists were clever despite the many plot holes. That being said, it is still very much a Saw film and thus contains the same typical flaws and cliches of this franchise. On a final note, I appreciated the fact they didn't de-age the characters, but never have I ever had to suspend my disbelief so much before in regard to a character's age: There is no way in hell John Kramer is a man in his 50s!
House of the Dragon (2022)
A promising start
Whilst not as good as the first episode of GOT, I really enjoyed this episode. The cast did a decent job, especially Matt Smith! The story was engaging. I found the references to the White Walkers a bit silly, but I am very much looking forward to the rest of the series.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
The story we've heard a billion times already
Terminator 3 is often criticised as being a copy of Terminator 2. This is more than just a copy, it's a rip off. Why does this movie even exist? The answer is money of course. It's all about money after all... Money, money and money.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
They messed up Game of Thrones
What an anti climax to a great build up. Felt more like a Disney movie than Game of Thrones. And the Night King should have won, not been killed in the stupidest way possibly!
Loving Vincent (2017)
Great visuals, but strongly lacking substance in the plot.
The visuals are truly stunning! The plot however is about as forgettable as they come. That's not to say that it's not a good movie, because it it is! And it obviously wasn't made because it had a new and unique story to tell, but to show off this truly stunning technique. Should you watch it? Yes! but don't expect to be intellectually stimulated, or sitting on the edge of your seat.
Den utrolige historie om den kæmpestore pære (2017)
An hour and a half of suffering
My young cousin wanted to watch this movie, so I took him to the movie theatre to watch it. The trailers looked OK, if not a bit cheap. But don't judge a movie by it's trailer I guess.
We Start off in the sunny town of "Solby" were we get introduced to our two main characters, Mitcho (an annoying little cat) and Sebastian (and even more annoying elephant) Who wants to be a captain or something because his great grandfather disappeared at sea. the mayor of Solby disappears and they all go on an adventure to find him. Stuff just kinda seems to happen around them, and the awful animation and voice acting makes it unwatchable. I'm not gonna spoil it for you incase you want to watch it for yourself, but I wouldn't recommend doing that. This movies make The Room look like a master pice. How the writer of the novel (who I used to know) was satisfied with this mess is beyond me. 1/10
