Un pas în urma serafimilor (2017)
One of best Romanian movies in the last (many) years
This is a movie not only worth seeing, but also worth having it at home, in your DVD collection. With an amazingly well-written script, the movie is extremely well played by a group of young and very talented actors, with an awesome direction throughout their entire play. In addition, the fact that the movie has a well-established humour, with scenes and acts that depict very authentic the life in a Romanian Orthodox high-school, a taboo place for many in Eastern Europe countries, is an added value to this movie. Do not worry if the film takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, you will not notice how time flies, when seeing it. One of the most enjoyable and well-made Romanian movies in decades.
Comoara (2015)
Not interesting at all
If you decide to invest two hours of your life, thinking that you have hit the jackpot, and you will see a great movie, with a taste of Eastern European within, you will be more than disappointed. There is no credible or smart script. As a result, the actors are simply not playing well, as they do not seem to enter under the skin of any of the characters described by such script. In addition, the directing is just wrong, as you cannot expect your viewers to accept a script completely empty of ideas, and a poor performance, as a good basis for your film. However, if you want to see a text-book movie with poor script, acting and/or directing, that's the one for you.
Doua lozuri (2016)
Lame
A lame, rather average comedy, using all cliche's of Romanian films from the last 25 years (poverty, countryside, policeman on duty, etc). Another movie aimed at making fun of the locals. Lack of creativity. It's not a happening that comedies are always difficult films, as the director needs to invest a lot of creativity, to make sure the characters are indeed credible, and as a result, the actors can play them well. In addition, the script can be better, as it is based merely on poor-rural daily facts, with no additions to a good directing. This is a mediocre movie, in line with other similar mediocre Romanian movies such as Comoara, that will rather make you feel bad for wasting the hours to watch it.
