The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Alloyed (2022)
This ain't it, chief
I honestly don't have the time or frankly the will to write in full just how awful of a finale this was, which is almost fitting to cap off just an absolute piece of crap opening season. Aside from absolutely butchering the canon, I could at least excuse that if the writing was decent. But it's not. The "standoff" between Galadriel and Sauron was just cheesy AF, the idea that mithril has ANYthing to do with the power inherent in the rings was lazy, and the "worshipping sycophants" of Sauron and how they acted towards Gandalf when they thought he was Sauron made zero sense, and the transition into the big reveal where they figured that out was again, just cheesy.
The writing on this show is so bad. I gave it a chance, but I don't think I'll be tuning into the second season.
Amazon: go hire the writers of House of the Dragon. It's not perfect, but they are kicking your show into next week because the writing is just that much better.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
At least you tried, Amazon (pats writers on the head)
This is definitely "based on the works of Tolkien" and not "Tolkien", i.e. His vision for Middle-Earth prior to the events of LOTR. It's almost like someone took his universe and did the "What if...?" thing that Marvel has done. It's like I'm seeing Tolkien's legendarium through the eyes of someone else and what they've been able to conjur up that is in the same environment, but ultimately has little to do with the source material outside of the names of characters and places (although the madeup Harfoot characters are a bit silly, IMO).
The cinematography is beautiful, but overall as a show....meh. I can only hope it gets better. As of episode 2, this feels like badly written fan fiction.
The Orville: Future Unknown (2022)
So boring, I couldn't finish
(that's what she said) Seriously, this was an aimless, dull, uninteresting episode on par with some of the cheesier Star Trek TNG episodes. Just spare yourself the time. There's nothing to see here. The writing is awful, the acting is so-so, for some reason they are obsessed with Moclan culture and this AI relationship Isaac has with Claire. It's just ridiculous to the point of stupidity. This season has had a couple of good episodes, but overall it's been a disaster, and Seth's preachiness and the way too long of a leash he was given with the air time did not do any favors. This show needs to get back to what made it great in the first two seasons: short, catchy punch lines, mixed in with some action, and only a sprinkling of interpersonal relationship stories in it. Leave the rest at the door.
Billions: Icebreaker (2018)
A preview of things to come?
I just got into this show and loved the first two seasons. Heck I even enjoyed the first part of this season. But the reviews in season 6 say it turns to absolute leftist garbage, and this episode sure showed signs of that and cracks in the foundation. I think might be done with it after this one, which took its pot shots at anyone who dares to be right of center.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Woke political BS
This series isn't worth your time. Complete BS and full of woke leftist political garbage. Plot is OK. But the script just ruins it.
Hamilton (2020)
Not accurate to the life of Hamilton at all
This musical paints Alexander Hamilton as some kind of hero when he was by far one of the most sinister, statist founding fathers who basically wanted a centralized federalist system tantamount to being under King George all over again. Just a lot of leftist talking points in the script too. Singing and acting was good though.
In the Heights (2021)
Generic singing and dancing. Yawn.
Just a bunch of flashy dance scenes and music without a substantive plot. Yawn. The actors are good. But just nothing I'd watch again. Plus just a bunch of woke left talking points scattered throughout. Enough with the propaganda from the left.
American Horror Story: Winter Kills (2021)
I think Ryan Murphy was trying to make a point...
...what that point was, I have no clue. I don't think he knows either. It's almost like he was trying to be really "Twilight Zone" with the writing but it just fell flat on its face.
Pretty bad ending for what was a great storyline. The writers definitely come off looking like the "pale people"....
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Blue Flu (2021)
Has its funny moments, but...
...ultimately it's the show slamming on cops again. Sad. I hope the writers, producers, director, and actors never need the police after producing this.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Woke political BS
This series isn't worth your time. Complete BS and full of woke leftist political garbage. Plot is OK. But the script just ruins it.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Good Ones (2021)
Just stop with the woke crap
Seriously, just stop it, Media companies. We are done. You've made your point, stupid as it was to begin with. They did exactly what I thought they'd do with this show and just turned it into a bunch of talking points for the woke agenda.
Black Panther (2018)
Meh
Decent storyline, great special effects, fun to have as part of the MCU. But the writers getting in their little "white people bad" pot shots every chance they get really gets a bit tiresome and causes some eyerolls.
Supernatural: Alpha and Omega (2016)
A disappointing ending to a disappointing season
I have no clue why people seem to like season 11. It's total crap, not to mention just flatly blasphemous and poorly written.
Gods and Generals (2003)
I have no idea why people rated this low
It is a masterpiece. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
Family Guy: Rich Old Stewie (2020)
Swing and a Miss
I know what the writers were trying to go for here, but frankly, it wasn't funny. It's a far cry from the good episodes from days gone by that gave you a good "belly laugh".
Family Guy: Christmas Is Coming (2019)
Just weird
Most of the episodes this season have been funny but this one was just weird.
Gotham (2014)
Could have been much better.
I'm not going to expand on this thought all that much. But it was a decent show periodically ruined by terrible acting and screenwriting.
Gotham: Legend of the Dark Knight: The Trial of Jim Gordon (2019)
Just...stop.
I have followed Gotham since the beginning. But this episode just sucked.
