Truckin' Man (1975)
Subliminal pizza
The highlight of this all time turkey is the subliminal shot of pizza that lingers a little too long to actually be subliminal. It's the most subtle and profound part of this film that's otherwise about a bunch of unlikeable characters and the women who inexplicably go to bed with them.
If you missed the 1970's, this film will make you happy you're too young to remember the celebration of trucker culture.
Thank goodness I only watched the Rifftrax version. I can't imagine the regret and self-loathing that would have ensued if I had to watch this movie without their commentary.
Features Larry Drake 12 years before L. A. Law. Proof that aspiring actors just need work, no matter how terrible the work is.
Nope (2022)
Nothing happens
Nothing really happens. A horse dies, I think? Something about horses? Someone rides away from the alien fast on a motorcycle. They reach an abandoned amusement park. Then a fibrous alien shows up. Shoney's Big Boy goes up to greet the alien. Then the motorcycle person stumbles around the amusement park. Then the horse comes back. The person is sad.
This took two hours. Nothing really happened. No plot points are resolved. Heck, I don't even know what the plot points were. Nothing happens. No-one knows what is happening. But people seem sad and excited and then sad again. Does it matter? No-one knows.
Invasion (2021)
A disjointed mess of a soap opera
Introduced several storylines, all cliches, and then proceeded to kill the only two interesting characters.
The main problem is it's just too drawn out and boring. For long stretches, nothing really happens. This is a soap opera, not a science fiction show.
